- mindyJust got a call from this number saying it was very important too call back. They called me by my madon name and I've been married 3 years and everything is in my new name and they said my father ws in the office with them and I havnt spoken to him in over 6 years. Sad thing is they said the last name wrong if my father was really there they would have known how to say it.
- MThey called my cell phone but I don't have voice mail so I just googled the number and found this site. Glad I did. Thankfully I don't answer calls whose numbers I don't recognize, now I know to just ignore if/when they call back.
- KRISSWOW, I am so amazed, I was just sitting at my computer when I got a call from this number, I don't answer many unknown calls, so I googled the Number and all of this appeared, glad to see ppl like the ones above to inform others of this situation, so i just called back and got a recording. I don't even own a credit card so I have no idea why they are calling me, just pure HarrASSment!!

- CJI received a call from this # today from a Ms. Lewis, who left a voice mail as I don't answer unfamiliar numbers, or something requesting that I call her back regarding a very important matter. She didn't identify the company she worked with or what the issue was regarding and since I'm aware of my debt, there's nothing that's not already being handled. Total scam and I will ignore the calls until I can find a way to block them.
- AnonymALL these ppl (or person) is a fraud!

- rswLike many collection agencies, Avante is another example of one that does not have any level of standards. The first letter I received from them was rather kind, stating that I would be treated with respect if I called and that reasonable payment arrangements could be made. It was the first time I had ever received such a "nice" collection letter, but this turned out just to be a new tactic employed by debt collectors.
When I called, I was treated with disrespect and my payment arrangements were refused, despite the fact I was willing to pay the full balance and just a settlement of less than 50% of what I owed. The manager I spoke with was no more helpful. A month later they called me and asked why I didn't make the payment I had "arranged with them." That was simply flabbergasting -- first they don't accept my payment arrangements, then they change directives and claim they did and I failed to comply!
If you're debt is with the University of Phoenix, I suggest you do what I did -- pay your debt directly to the school through the school's student website. Just mark them as general payments and they will apply them toward your "write-off debt." Your debt is not with Avante -- they did not purchase it from the University, therefore you *can* pay them directly. Once you've made all of your payments, call Avante and inform them. They will claim that it isn't good enough, as they did in my case, stating the school must provide a letter showing I have a zero balance before they cease their efforts.
Ridiculous company. I told them I had the right two do two things: (1) Insist they stop calling me; and (2) Confirm the accuracy of my alleged debt. Since the University of Phoenix is their client, there is no reason why they cannot do this.
Regardless, you can't collect a debt that is no longer owed.- Caller: Avante

- Christine| 2 repliesI've been receiving calls from this number for quite some time now on my cell phone. Since it's a number I did not recognize, I never picked up. No messages were ever left and I didn't care enough to bother to return the call. Well, today they decided it was appropriate to call me at my job. The first phone call was from a woman who was very hard to understand asking me to verify my SSN#. I asked what this was regarding. She very rudely refused to tell me anything until I verified my SSN#. Right, because I make a habit of just giving out my SSN# to everyone who calls and asks for it. She got very nasty and hung up. A few hours later, I received another phone call from a woman (who refused to tell me her name). Again they called my job. She is claiming I owe them $1100 from college tuition I paid over 8 years ago. I ended up withdrawing from this school and any monies owed were settled before I withdrew officially. I in fact am still paying off a student loan that covered all tuition costs. I never once received a letter from the school or from AvanteUSA regarding this supposed debt. I politely asked to be sent some written documentation regarding the debt so I could confirm the validity and research my own records. She started yelling, telling me what a lowlife I was for ignoring debts and by asking for documentation I'm just employing stall tactics. Again, I asked for documentation. She asked for an email address and I refused. I requested a letter in writing be sent to my home. She refused again. When she got so nasty I couldn't take it anymore, I requested to speak to a supervisor.
I then spoke with a man named Craig Kinser. While he was perfectly nice (much nicer than the previous woman I spoke with), he still insisted I owed this money and even offered a settlement amount if I paid now. I politely declined stating AGAIN that I am not sending over $1000 to them simply because they call me asking for it. H said "well, we'll take half if you're willing to settle." "No, I'm not sending you $5.00 just because you say so over the phone - send the documentation and I will look it over and have someone else look it over and then I will contact you." He was not at all happy, but finally said "Fine, we'll send it."
Are these people kidding me? I never once questioned the legitimacy of your company, but when you start requesting personal information without telling me who you are or why you're calling me, then I start to get annoyed. If you are a valid debt collection agency, then there should be no problem with sending me requested written documentation. It was unreal.- Caller: AvanteUSA

- DaveI used to recieve calls from this number all the time. Now I only recieve calls from them about once a month. When they call me, they claim to be a law firm wanting to sue me for unpaid student loans. since I had never had a student loan at the time they first started calling, I know they are committing fraud. If you talk to them ask them to mail you a copy of the original agreement or contract with you signature. They will most likely not becuase if they did it would be forged and they would all go to prison for mail fraud. I did file a complaint with the FBI due to the constant harrassment but nothing has come of it so far.

- Dave replies to Christine| 1 replyDid you ever get anyting in the mail? They always tell me they will mail me something but never do.
- Never Suffer A Fool replies to harrassedSame here! I just got left a voicemail and the lady was speaking so quickly and out of breath, I thought it was an emergency! I couldn't even hear her name (Ms Peachy)? Anyway, she was looking for the wrong person. But whatever this company is, it's obviously a sham since everyone there seems unprofessional, fidgety and apparently rude. I will not tolerate any rudeness. You must not suffer a fool.
- Norse WinterThe fact that they asked Christine for the SSN is PROOF that these [***] are frauds. NEVER give out such personal information, especially to people who are as unprofessional as these clowns.

If they call you send them a "Cease Communication" & combine it with a demand for "Validation". There are many good letters that you can copy.
Your agreement/contract is with the originator, you owe them. Unless the debt collector can Validate, not verify, this debt in writing, you don't owe them a cent.- Caller: AvanteUSA Ltd
