- ArmyWifeThis is a BullSh*T. You people who says its NOT are a bunch of LIERS! A regular Credit card service would NOT call 15 Times in one day everyday and just hang up everytime you say hello! So STOP commenting on these...yes these sites thats its real. Get a life!
- Mina replies to victoria| 1 replyI initially thought it was a phishing scam too, especially since they called very early Sunday morning. They knew my name and said that my Citi payment was overdue. It really was. When I called Citi back at their official number to make my payment, I asked if anyone had called me earlier on Sunday, and they confirmed that it was Citi. While initially I was skeptical, since a bank would probably send an email first, telling you to please log into your account or YOU to call them, this is indeed Citi's very unprofessional way of letting you know you forgot to make a payment or you are over the credit limit.
- SarahYes, this is Citibank. They are extremely annoying and don't leave messages, plus they use some sort of autodialer, so it seems nobody is there or that they're hanging up on you. However, if you are getting these calls, you owe them money. If you don't, someone gave your phone number to Citi in error, which is easily resolved... call them and tell them the party they are looking for is not there.
Either way, you can have them stop calling you, even if you DO owe money. Under the Fair Debt Collection Act, all you have to do is ask them not to contact you by phone anymore. However, at that point, if you don't make a payment, they may just take you to court. It's your dime.
(I got a call from them today, and I know I'm late in my payments. I do not work for them. Anyone saying they don't owe money or have a Citi card is either the victim of someone giving out their number or embarrassed by their debt. Whatever.)- Caller: Florence, KY
- Call type: Debt collector
- RattleheadJust got a call. They left a message saying they were Citibank. That's all well and good, but I don't bank at Citibank and never have. I can only believe that it is a scam. Beware of ANYONE that asks you to confirm bank account numbers OR social security numbers over the phone! Tell everyone.
- Caller: "Citibank"
- BellaVictoria and Jan, you are correct. And as far as the others go that agree they are over their limit and made a payment, well they are in on the scam. DO NOT LISTEN to them or answer the call. I DO NOT even have a Citi Card. They call me at all hours of the day and nite. I want to know how to block them from my number. They wake me up on a Saturday or Sunday morning when I am sleeping in. These posts are old, so how can they be getting away with this for so many years.
- Caller: Citibank (supposedly)
- Bella replies to MinaAnd you are in on the scam......some of us are not that stupid, IDIOT!!!
- JamesGCalled me 5 times already today! No one answered when I picked up, and they didn't leave message when I let it go to voicemail. Very annoying!
- HankThey call me everyday & they refuse to answer. All they do i s hang up. I will not answer this number anymore.
- Caller: Citibank
- LNo one talks when I answer. Calls repeatedly, never leaves a message when I can't answer. Is this the same as "Card Services" or "Household Bank"?
- BayerThey called one of our business phone and it was a recording from "Citibank" and they gave a callback number of 1 800 388 2200 but the caller id showed 859 283 8071.
- BryanI have gotten many calls from this number. Always a hang-up or just a hello when I answer. Called the number back and got Citi bank. Did extensive checking. This is a scam using an auto dialer and the citibank # as an ID. If the callers do talk to you they will be trying to get any information from you they can use. Dont give them any thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FYI I do not and have never had a Citibank credit card.
- Caller: Not Citibank
- LianneI get calls from this number-Citibank, and I don't even have an account or a card with them. I called the number back and a lady answered. She asked for my social security number but I didn't give it to her but said she needed it to see if maybe someone opened an account with my social to confirm possible fraud. I guess that would make sense, however I can check my credit report for that.
- Caller: Citibank
- AngelaTons and tons of calls. Most DEFINITELY A SCAM! I have never ever banked with Citibank. I don't care if it was my real bank though, I would say thanks for the notice and hang up. Then I would call a local branch directly, or their website directly (no email links).
People, please protect yourselves and be smart. People that commit fraud feel entitled if their victim is "dumb enough to fall for it".- Caller: FLORENCE;KY
- barbCalls a couple times a day ..... no one speaks .... VERY annoying!
- gia kirbythey called me 3 times a day or more-never give up-leave msgs. iam poor and live on fixed income and disabled.it must stop-its now harassment.
one cannot get money from a poor, person.many others try as well. i can give $5 or $10 a month-thats it. the calls need to stop.- Caller: citi
- BrePosters who say this number is really Citibank are part of the scam. This actually a call bank company based in the Phillipines trying to solicit your credit card number & social security #. DO NOT give out your info. Call Citibank & the Do Not Call Registry to report these criminals.
- MonaIt is Citi Bank. They are on my answering machine up to six times a day. They leave a number to call. Called it, and was on the line 10 minutes waiting for them to look up the reason that they were calling me. Couldn't tell me. The only Citi Bank card I have (Sears) has NEVER been used. And the calls keep coming.
- Caller: CitiBank
- CK replies to JasonThat's a lie, it's not Citibank. We do not do business in any way with Citibank and that number has called us every day for two weeks.
We registered ourselves on the 'Do Not Call List' this morning and have reported the number as a scam.
Get a job, scammers. You'll sleep better at night when you feel better about yourselves. - CaraCall from 859 283 8071 twice today. May the cell phone co can block the number
- SundaypeaceThis # has been colling my house over 8 times for the pass 4 days. I called Citi and they told me that they were not making those calls. my account was in perfect condition and my payment history was remarkable. I called the phone number that has been calling my house and they said that was from Citi Cards. They want me to give them my secret code. I refuse to give any information until they will tell me what do they want. They did not volunteer any information. They keep on asking me for my account number.
I did not provided any information and they told me that they couldn't updated my account. I told them that I have told to Citi, which is a different number and I had check my status. Ten minutes later, they called again, and the did not talk and after a minute they hang up. What is this?- Caller: Citi cards
