Got two calls, answered the second one, no one spoke on the other end, then they hung up...guess I didn't sound scamable...but tell people not to answer if you don't recognize the number, really callers leave a message.  Block the number immediately.

Called a few times, I sent it to voicemail, no message.  After seeing some people reference Citibank, I check my credit card.. and sure enough I missed this months payment.

So, for me this was a legit call from Citibank reminding me that I missed a payment.  If you have a Citibank credit card... check your payments

Keep in mind they're just calling the number on the account in question... If you don't have a Citibank card, it's entirely possible that your number ended up on someone elses account.  Just tell them they have the wrong number and if they're legit, they'll stop calling.

I started to get phone calls from this number about 4 weeks ago, once or twice a day, so I called them back. When they answer, go ahead and select the number for your language and do not enter your account number one time and the system tells you that your input was not understood and please enter your account number, again, do not do anything a second time and you get the same answer along with 'transferring to an attendent'. I did talk to an attendent and told her my name only, not any other information, the attendent asked me for the phone number that was being automatically dialed and I gave that to her, she then told me that my name did not match the phone number they were dialing-tada!, she removed my phone number. If you do not want anymore phone calls from this auto dialer that Citi and AT&T has, and you have an account with them, just go into your information and change your phone number, this is what where the auto dialier get the information.

What if you don't have a card with citiBank and you don't owe them any money?  I don't want to give them any more info than they already have which by the way is just my phone number.  How do you get them to stop calling???

I get a call from this number at least twice a day.  Since I am not familiar with this number I don't answer.

They call many times and will not speak when I answer. Whoever it is should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. If it is Citibank, the media needs to get wind of this annoying and insulting practice. "Normal" debt collectors at least say who they want to speak to and who they are.

This # calls 1 or 2x a day. This needs to be dealt with by authorities. My next move will be calling citibank and get to the bottom of this or a harrassment suit WILL be filed!

So this number called FIVE times today.  Finally got a live person, the lady on the phone spoke with a heavy accent (Spanish) and told me I hadn't paid for two months.  She gave me a last four that do not match my Citi account.  I played along, and started asking for her to provide some personal information she should have (Credit Limit, address, etc) but she could not.  Told her I didn't believe she was legit, and I suggested I should call the police for harassment.  I finally called Citi's REAL customer service on three way.  She hung up.  Hopefully its the last I hear of this.

This is a BullSh*T. You people who says its NOT are a bunch of LIERS! A regular Credit card service would NOT call 15 Times in one day everyday and just hang up everytime you say hello! So STOP commenting on these...yes these sites thats its real. Get a life!

I initially thought it was a phishing scam too, especially since they called very early Sunday morning. They knew my name and said that my Citi payment was overdue. It really was. When I called Citi back at their official number to make my payment, I asked if anyone had called me earlier on Sunday, and they confirmed that it was Citi. While initially I was skeptical, since a bank would probably send an email first, telling you to please log into your account or YOU to call them, this is indeed Citi's very unprofessional way of letting you know you forgot to make a payment or you are over the credit limit.

Yes, this is Citibank. They are extremely annoying and don't leave messages, plus they use some sort of autodialer, so it seems nobody is there or that they're hanging up on you. However, if you are getting these calls, you owe them money. If you don't, someone gave your phone number to Citi in error, which is easily resolved... call them and tell them the party they are looking for is not there.

Either way, you can have them stop calling you, even if you DO owe money. Under the Fair Debt Collection Act, all you have to do is ask them not to contact you by phone anymore. However, at that point, if you don't make a payment, they may just take you to court. It's your dime.

(I got a call from them today, and I know I'm late in my payments. I do not work for them. Anyone saying they don't owe money or have a Citi card is either the victim of someone giving out their number or embarrassed by their debt. Whatever.)

Just got a call.  They left a message saying they were Citibank.  That's all well and good, but I don't bank at Citibank and never have.  I can only believe that it is a scam.  Beware of ANYONE that asks you to confirm bank account numbers OR social security numbers over the phone!  Tell everyone.

Victoria and Jan, you are correct.  And as far as the others go that agree they are over their limit and made a payment, well they are in on the scam.  DO NOT LISTEN to them or answer the call. I DO NOT even have a Citi Card.  They call me at all hours of the day and nite.  I want to know how to block them from my number.  They wake me up on a Saturday or Sunday morning when I am sleeping in.  These posts are old, so how can they be getting away with this for so many years.
    • Caller: Citibank (supposedly)
