these people call continuously.  I want it to stop.

Got this number several days in a row now... they called for my husband and when I asked if they'd like to leave a message or who's calling, they just stopped talking all together. Very aggressive and very very rude and annoying.

After reading the posts here, I'll have my husband called Discover Card and complained about it. Thanks so much!!

They've been doing it to us as well. I've gotten 2 calls in the last 2 hours. Seems strange though...if it's a Discover telemarketer then why are they calling Discover members and not saying anything? Seems sketchy to me...

Just call 1800 Discover and tell them to take you off the solicitation call and give them the 866-831-4847 and no problems, will take a few days. We're nice about it.

they call 3 to 6 times daily and each time they call it jams my answering machine and there is no doubt this is intentional. i never answer since i have caller id but i am tired of having to clear the answering machine each time they call. these guys are bad new and have already changed our society for the worse. we used to always answer and always be polite and friendly but because of their abuse this is no longer true.

Discover card called for my husband from this number.  Since it's not my card, I do not know exactly what they wanted.

Calls several times a day, 3-4 days a week. Leaves no message and hangs up if we answer. We called the number and get a recording saying "Yo have been contacted for marketing research or a sales call." We reported it to the do not call list.

I just read all of the complaints that relate to 1-877831-4847. I have never worked in tele-marketing before but I have been around for a while. Based on what I have read on this site, this number seems to belong to a tele-marketing company associated with Discover Card. It's my guess that all of those calls people mentioned that related to radio stations, political calls, asking for your spouse, etc., are likely from the same firm working with Discover Card. What is one likely answer to the following questions: Is your husband home? Is your wife home? Is the man of the house home? Is the lady of the house home? Can we count on your support for so-and-so in the next election? You have won our contest from radio station 97.5 (etc), would you like to hear what you have won? May I ask you one very quick survey question? Is the weather nice there where you live? Are you the man of the house? Are you the lady of the house? These questions and SO MANY more can all lead to one possible answer. The answer is YES !!! It is possible that once you say yes or of course, or definitely, etc, then your positive response could be edited into what would seem to be a call the tele-marketing rep had with you asking if you would like to sign up to receive a free credit report, or ANY other offer. Your credit card would later be billed once or monthly for that service that you said YES to. When you call to complain to Discover, they contact their affiliated telemarketing company which later supplies "proof" that you said YES when they asked for that offer in question. Please do NOT say YES or any statement in the affirmative. Call Discover as so many here have done and ask to be taken off of their call marketing call list. I have received about fifty calls in two weeks from this number. I will call Discover VERY soon. I pray that it ends the calls from this number and many others I have been getting from around the US. I have tried to block this number with my QWEST phone service, but it doesn't recognize the number. I have never answered these calls and I never will. Monte in Mesa, AZ.

I have just started getting calls from this number for the past 3 days.  I only get the number and Toll Free Number.

I screen the calls and they hang up and don't leave a message.

Yep...i called discover and they removed my phone number...it takes 2-4 weeks

These people have called 3 times today already, and it's only 2:30pm.
I am SICK of these calls.

It's the [***] from Discover Card calling to sell id fraud protection.

866-831 4847 keeps calling me at least 5 times a day and hangs up when I answer.
This number is owned by DISCOVER. One of their telemarketing company's owns this number.
If you have a DISCOVER card they will likely call you on this number.
If all DISCOVER members would call DISCOVER maybe we can get them tp stop using this computer generated number that does not work properly for Discover.

Calls everyday every other hour and after reading this site contact Discover card who apologized for the inconvience and will let HQ know of the issues that people are having with this company.  Not sure if this will stop Discover from using this company but atleast I'm off their list as of tomorrow.

Same as everyone, several cals a day, no voice, no message.

They called 7 times this day so far. No one was home and they did not leave a message. Who is this calling and why? My number is on the no call list.
