Does anybody know who owns this number?
They keep calling me, and I want to setup forwarding so the call gets forwarded back to them.

They called  here twice today and hung up on the answering machine, so I looked up the number and found this.  Interesting that some people say it's Discover and my husband recently signed up for a Discover card.

I phoned Discover directly and asked them to remove me from their lists. I also told them that this site claims I'm not alone in being annoyed by whomever is phoning from 866-831-4847

Calls three or four times a day -- for at least a year and a half -- never leaves a message.

Thanks for the tip about the 866-831-4847 Discover card calls. Since the caller i.d. is anonymous I haven't known who it was. Just called 800-discover and they  removed my home number from all solicitation lists - I'm crossing my fingers.

They called me twice today and when I answered they hung up. When I called them, the message was that I had called a sales or survey number, then nothing.

start canceling your credit cards with discover that will get their attention to the matter, just let them know thats the reason why.

These calls from 866-831-4847 have been irratating me for days!!!  I finally googled the number and found out that it is Discover.  Shame on them!  That is not the way to do business, unless they are trying to get rid of us that pay up our bill each month and they don't get any interest.  Now there's a thought! Guess my next step is to report them to state attorney general.  That helped one other time I was being bothered by a similiar call.

Calls house several times a day with no message.  If I answer, they hang up.

I also get several calls from this number pretty much each day and has been going on for months. I am led to believe this cakk is Discovery card related.  I never pick up. Why can't this be stopped?

I use to work there, and all you people who say I am on the National DNC List so they can't call me its illegal, are wrong. They are calling existing customers and your TOS and their contract with Discover allows them to do so. They do remove you from the list when asked though.

You need to read the fine print from these companies.
The way they see it,they are calling their customers to tell you about a great new product.

As for the hang ups, time is money 3 rings and its time to move to the next call.

They do not leave messages because this is a financial matter and only the card member is to be talked to regarding this. Imagine if you didn't want your Wife to know you have a Discover Card.Or anyone could reply to the message pretending to be you.

So quit whining about the NDNC List like it some kind of Marketing Shield, that list protects you from cold calls only.

When you ask them to put you on the DNC list they put you on THEIR DNC list, other companies that Discover outsources to have no way of knowing and you have to be removed from each companies list as they call. This is not a removal from Discovers DNC List. You have to call them directly.As for their policy regarding DNC Request , you have to ask them.

Just remember the numbers are sent to them by Discover and they send them numbers from card members who have not requested to not be called.
Discover saying they know nothing about it is a cop out.

Note this company does legit work for all kinds of Radio Stations and Politicians.

They asked for Donna (my wife).
I said that my phone number is on

They call my house often and I wish that

Whoever calling me on this number does the call at least three times day, i dont know picking it up would be a good idea. Maybenot, looking at those messages. I wish not be bothered by the calling agency.

Receive several calls from this number. Caller/computer hangs up when voice mail box answers.  No ID provided.

I get calls from 866-831-4847 several times every day; today 5 times.  I am on the donot call list.  They never leave a message.  Let's face it, the Donot call list law has no teeth.  It's ironic that we, who pay for our phone service, have to be subjected to this harrassment.  Congress should passed stricter laws.  Our privacy is trampled upon !
