It's a company that has the contract with DOC and all county jails

Its all part of the scam.  Put people in jail you know, then extort money from you to talk to them. If you give money expect them to see the inside of jail cells more often.  Its all big business.

Sadly, it's not a scam.  Not completely anyway.  Someone you know and probably love has been arrested and this is the only way they can reach out to you.  The scam is the company who services the calls; talk about a ripoff... they need some competition!

got a call from this number saying someone from a close county was in jail and to speak to them it would cost me $14.95

This number is for inmates at jails etc.. when they call you it comes from this number.. but you have to pay if you accept...

this is not a scam , it is someone calling from a jail or prison , they had a free
1 minute phone call and then you will be charged after that minute , if you have a loved one incarcerated i would answer the call

At least ten recorded calls a day.  Something about a phone bill for $9.99.  Using my cell number, which I NEVER give out to anyone except family and very close friends.

It was the Grant County Sheriffs office wanting funds for phone service

I got a call the recording said it was from weld county jail. As a collect caller who needed monies put on their calling account.

This is a SCAM - the recording may 'claim' to come from a correctional institute in the county where you reside (or your phone number is) and the person's  name is deliberately 'mubmbled' so that you cannot hear it clearly - the ONLY POINT of this call is to get you to PAY and/or to say "YES" (as in 'yes I'll accept the collect call charges)......then they have you recorded as saying YES and they can bill you whatever they want.  HANG UP IF YOU GET A CALL LIKE THIS from this number or any number.  Definitely a scam call.

i got a call like six times ( cell phone and home line) times and i heard my sons name i know it was from him and before i could complete all the BS he had hung up. I was still charged for the calls (13.99 each) They processed my payments before the call ever went through> I want my money back!!!!  oh and i cannot say i knew who the call was from below only OTHER which is untrue

Someone from van burden county jail is trying to call you. Wanted credit card number to set up calling account. In the background it sounded like a girl saying dad come and get me

Keeps calling me and recorded voice is spanish.

this is not a scam. i just got a call from an exgf who is most definitely in jail. it did say her name. i know i have had trouble contacting people when i was in jail also so... its probably someone you know who cant get a hold of anyone else because people dont answer numbers they dont know.
