Accepted a call from this institute n don't even know who the inmate is

I do know someone in the local lock-up, but I'm not paying out fifteen dollars to talk to anyone. This is a scam to victimize inmates and their families and friends, pure and simple. This is what we get for 'privatizing' what used to be public services. The real crooks here are not in the jailhouse.

This is NOT a scam. It means an inmate is trying to call you from jail or prison and they don't have money on their books. It's normally around $15 for a 15min phone call, and they can both record the call and look at your GPS location for investigative purposes. I thought it was Spam at first as well.

In my state collect calls are not allowed from jail or prison. Enough said.

It told me that I was under investigation but why would they call me about it??

They keep calling me with a prerecorded message something about billing money to my phone service. They call me at least 2-3 times a day and are spamming my voicemail.

Yeah, I get the exact same message, about charging $14.99 to my phone bill.

said they were calling from jackson county jail in michigan.  The name was Laura I believe.  they called my phone multiple times in a row.  My grandson has also been getting the same calls on his cell phone.

2 calls from an inmate. Around midnight. But each time after saying you would except. Recording said your party has hung up.

They have called a number of times. I don’t pick up anymore if I don’t know the number. I listen to the voicemail. VM said they were going to charge my debit card  of 14.99 if they don’t hear from me.  That’s when I copied pasted phone number and googled. I found this site.

Received two calls about one minute apart from this number - first one from 1-877-710-3334 which didn't go through since my phone wouldn't answer it, but the second one from +1-877-710-3334 went to my voice mail-to-text program.  Supposedly the Sheriff's Department asking to hit one number for so many dollars, then another number for more dollars, and saying my phone bill would be charged for the amounts.  These guys are nasty characters!

This isn't a scam. Someone is calling you from jail.

A grasshopper approach to pull funds on a phone line that is and will always be free. Its a number now often used to get or pull funds on an internet site which gives an inmate an ability to contact his/her loved ones via online account or debit issued allowance ... There for granting canteen or visa via consent of phone line. Be aware that this is unnecessary to have consent or authorization of any debit issued trust to communicate with any entity in a place in time. It is at it's core just another service collective finances from the consenting party.

This is not a scam, it is from a correctional facility. My daughter has called from MCDF in IL several times in the last few days.  The automated system automatically engages when it thinks the phone has been answered and it will always record on voicemail because it is automated.  Just block the number if you know you have no friends or relatives in jail or answer the call and speak to the person.
