Except it isn't...the recording doesn't offer a name, it just asks for credit card information.  Some people say their card info has been hacked from this site.

They call from jail it's dispatched to a office who knows where and it's connected to you so the company has no idea who is calling.

Are you dumb? If everyone in your office gets a number do you think that number just magically appears from nowhere? No it's a port number meaning when someone stops paying there phone bill the number gets put into a system that you can choose from. Obviously you have never got a new phone number and had people call you asking for someone else cause that number at one point belonged to someone else.

My brother is in prison. I send him money and he can call my cell for a lot cheaper than $1 a minute. My phone call said nothing about an inmate. It said my location could be confiscated and used for investigative purposes. I blocked the number.

Like Tamie, it said the same thing to me. I truly don't believe it's a scam actually, a friend of mine went to jail 2 days ago. But 14 bucks is a bit steep to pay, I'll wait till my friend comes out and ask if that was them.

I have about 20 of these calls. They says they are from the Fairfield Minimum Security Prison. I recently put my number up on Craigslist to sell a truck. I wonder if that is where they got my number?

I thought this was a scam after looking at sites (including this one ) to see who was calling me at 3 in the morning. The calls went on for about an hr before I answered. It was a friend of mine who got arrested and needed help getting out. Wasn't a scam at all. He was calling from the county jail.

Got 3 calls in row from Butte County Jail. Did not answer first 2 & called back to find out who was making these calls. They were unable to give me an "inmate" name so I hung up. Decided to answer 3rd call & a garbled voice said a first name unfamiliar to me. I hung up. I am also on the Do Not Call list but this call came through. I say SCAM

My friend is in Euless, Texas jail and this is the number he called from.  Not s scam.

Got a call from this number saying my son was in jail. I hung up and called my son and he answered. Guessing they just wanted my credit card information.

Want to know how is call.  I didn't answer.

Received two calls from this number before blocking it. If it's legit, why can't they tell you who is calling!

Got called today from 877-710-1116. Let it go to VM. First thing I hear is "Hey." voice sounded like my ex boyfriend. Then recording saying an inmate at the Lake County jail is trying to reach me. Same prompt 3x in a row saying hit key to hear recording. Then said go to www.securus.net or call 877-710-3334 for information on more products and services.  I live in this county and ex has a record and might have done something stupid, but with so little info and the fact that he's my EX, I'm not biting.
