It's amazing how stupid some of you are.
This number is the number that shows up from an inmate in jail and even if you don't answer they leave a voicemail because it is a recording on the inmates line, and it just keeps running.
It is asking for money because it IS an inmate in a correctional facility calling you.
They aren't trying to scam you lmao.
You don't get to talk to the inmate until you pay for your call obviously. It will say that you have a call from an inmate in a correctional facility and it then allows them to have their name said so that whoever receives the call at least can know who it is from if they answer. The jail calls are ran through a company called securus. It is the same company that also allows you to have video visitation with an inmate.

    www.securus.com is the website.

    It's a scam, period.
Those who said it was not by their 'personal experience' are probably in the scamming team.
Don't let them scare you, people.

I have been receiving this message on my business phone. I rarely use it. Everyone in the department by default gets a number. I only used it to check the map and receive company emails.
No one in my inner circle knows this number. They don't need to because this phone is not used for personal communication. I actually don't even accept business calls on this. I sit at my desk every day. No one needs to contact me by phone. They can just walk over.
So... a call from jail from someone who needs my help???
    I think not.

This is the recorded message you receive until you are able to set up an actual account with funds on it. You get 1 free 1 minute call. After that minute it gives you the option to pay $14 for another 15 minutes. Ever call after that is also $14 you pretty much have to be ready with your credit card. It's much cheaper to set up an account with the facilities telephone provider.

I  started getting these calls yesterday calling me every hour day and night. Yes, my caller talked about accepting a call from a correctional institute.  I hung up and Googled the number. I called National Do Not Call List. Next, I  am calling Verizon to block this number. I think the phone service should do more to protect their customer's privacy. We certainly pay enough for the data and service.

877-710-3334 calls gives recording press1 to accept 9.99 call charge. they are https://securustech.net/   INMATE phone processor. Don't bother contacting that number or securustech - they will only refer you to their 3rd party company 'paynow' which is 1tell.com - website is useless also.
CALL-  1-877-224-7002 follow prompts, enter the number that is being called, press 2 or whatever they instruct to block you number. Mine were coming from Knox County Jail, this number will also tell you where it came from but not who was calling.

Oh, and I have no family in Knox County TN, so no one would have my number there especially my cell.  And, yes, scams can be run from inside jails and prisons.

I have actually had this call twice in my voicemail and I have written bad reviews on it because of reading the comments. Today I got the call from the same number and I answered and paid $10 and it was my husband. I do not work for the company and I felt the same way, but it's not a scam.

The number it's self is not a scam it's from a county jail now if the person calling you is somehow trying to run a scam on you I don't know but in my personal experience it was a friend of mine who needed me to get in touch with her dad

After coming home to 2 messages one day and another the day after, it said some one from a County Jail. Next day I answered and it was legit, I actually knew the person.  It does end up costing you 14.99.

Really Rachel you should not be calling people stupid, perhaps we do not have the experience you appear to have dealing with correctional institutions.

This is not a scam you dumbasses. This is a legitimate call from an inmate from your local jail. Don't know anybody locked up? Well maybe they miss dialed you, dumbass! Yea they are having their way with you by making you pay so much for such a small amount of time to talk, but yes this is the number inmates use to call people from inside jail/prison.

NOT A SCAM, just a company exploiting the fact you want to talk to a family/friend in jail by charging you a [***] ton of money. Period.

Source: father is currently in local jail that used this call service.

Got the message about paying for phone time for an inmate.   I don't know anyone in jail.  It's definitely a scam and the scammers are leaving notes on this site trying to trick people into thinking it's real.
