Had 3 text from 88818 and when I checked my account with Orange I found that I had been charged £1.50 for each text.I contacted Orange and asked the operator how a person can send me a text and I have to pay for it.His answer was that 88818 was a third party provider and I had to ring them on 08451309911 to stop them and claim the money back. When I rang this number it was an automated voice and I could not get throught to claim the return of my money. If this firm continues with these text then they could clear all the money in my account. As a pensioner I rely a lot on my phone and cannot afford to pay for something that I do not want.Is there any way to claim this money back

my mum kept receiving texts from jiucy win, 88818. They happened 3 times every sunday  for a month. This cost her £18.00. I had already advised her to txt stop, which she did after the first 3 which is clear on her bill. However she has kept getting them and is now fuming as t-mobile barred the number (apparantly!!) but shes still getting them! Any advice most appreciated

I had exactly the same thing happening to me - 3 texts in a row taking my credit...........how rude.  Just call 0845 130 9911 follow the instructions and they WILL deactivate the number from your phone...never to be botherd again.  My advice, dont enter any competitions or give out your moblie number again !!!  I wont !!

    Hiya

If she has called 08451309911 and it hasnt worked, i think the only advise would be to change her sim card.

these fuck3r$ are theiving! I also received these dodgy texts and just thought oh well ...however i'd notice my top up would reduce so much!I just thought it was because I use my cellphone a hell of alot esp for international calls until today when I topped up with 10quid and the [***] message came and £5 was taken away-I had to google it,then landed on this page- ITS A SCAM-THEY ARE THEIVES ..just opt out by texting STOP ALL as a legal adviser told me-and avoid wasting your life by calling service providers or having it with them-avoid them in all costs. I have sent the STOP text and a msg was sent back saying I opted out - If I lose my top up again I am suing the ?UN7$ !!!...all this while I have been topping up and I find out in 2011-the govt should look into this as this is not what the economy needs

Yup they got me too.  Not an honourable way to make a living but at least it gives me more reason to hate people in flash cars

Last night we received calls from this number on our house phone telling us we had a text message. Thinking it was one of the kids I listened and quickly realised it was some comp and switched it off. It was followed by more calls which I cancelled without listening. Hope we don't get charged!

Hi I am a long standing virgin customer to T-Mobile Pay As You Go LG Cookie. I topped my phone up last week and had not used any of my credit, however in my message inbox I have three or four recent messages from 88818. I have not topped up my phone since as I am afraid of having all my credit gobbled up by the above number. I feel sick to the stomach as I am registered disabled so need my phone for emergencies. Can you please tell me the protocol of removing this? My number is 07940495076. Kind regards Carole Watson. My email address is carolewatson2009@live.co.uk.

Report this on bbbwatchdog, and maybe something may get done abvout it if enough people make noise about it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/

I've been charged £1.50 each for nine messages since 10th February. Just called the 0845 130 9911 number to deactviate my number, hope it works, but this is daylight robbery, and someone needs to expose these thieves!!!!
