- carolyn hendrix| 1 replyI can I stop this harassing phone call? It has been going on for months. I have talked to my phone provider an theFCC and they say because it is an 888 number I cannot block it.
- Lyn Torden replies to carolyn hendrixYes, you CAN block it. You just do it yourself using a special type of caller ID device that your phone is connected to. The device is programmed to recognized caller ID numbers you want to block. When a call comes in, the first ring will not be passed on to your phone (which is connected to this device). The caller ID data is transmitted between first and second ring on analog phones. When the device gets the caller ID, it looks up its list of blocked numbers. If it is blocked, it still keeps the rings away from your phone. Other numbers will ring your phone on the second ring. It may be possible to make it work the other way, too, where only numbers you program to allow ringing will ring and the others won't.
Here is one such device: http://jfteck.com/
I have never used or tested this device, so I cannot vouch for it, or the company. I would be there are some others, too. Google for --> "caller id" block
Another option is to get a new phone number, or a cell phone. - KeDon't answer it.. if you pick up they keep calling. just ignore the number and in a month they will stop calling. I know i owe them money but i will not pay.

- anthony campbellThey were trying to say I owed s debt with Discover card. I called them and got a lady who said they were a debt collcter and trying to collect for Discover card. I explained that I did have a Discover card or ever did. They then told me they were looking for someone else and gave the name of the person that they were looking for. I then asked why did you call me and inform me that I had a debt. She said that the were looking for someone else. I asked them if they knew what they were doing was actually against the law. Because no debt collector can call someone else about a debt that belongs to another individual even if they are fishing to find out information on the orignal debtor. I also told her that I better not recieve any more calls from them on a debt that is not mine for I will consider it harassment. She informed me what she was doing was legal and they would call me again. I also informed her that I was also recording the conversation and that I was going to called the state attorney generals office to double check the laws about this and report the company for the tatics they were using and she quickly hung up the phone.

- J.M. West| 1 replyThis company is A L W Sourcing, LLC. It's some type of collection agency, but the person they are looking for doesn't live at my address. Most of the calls show up as "unknown caller" or just show the 888 number (no name), and they don't leave messages. They call 2 and 3 time during the day (as early 7:50 a.m. and as late as 9 p.m.) AND they call very early on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, they're operators need to take a speech class because they all talk like they have marbles in their mouths. Can't hardly undersand them. Wish I had an address for them. I would pay them a visit.

- eftJohn's (April 8, 2009) answer is very helpful; the statue of limitation applies for credit card debt. The time varies by state; for example, for NY State, it is 6 year.

- SmokeyBQIt is very simple to have these calls stop. Go to their web site and locate address, deliver a couple three or four racks of BQ ribs and leave your phone number on the delivery slip.
End of story, no more calls. Life can be so simple. They are the bottom feeders in the debt collection world. Check out their CEO on the web page. He used to be with the Cadle Company until they discharged him for eating outside of his lunch hour. Again the ribs...- Caller: ALW Sourcing

- FedUpWithALW/HSBCWe have been getting calls from 888-379-4884 and 800-684-8429 (HSBC Bank) from 6:00AM until 10PM EVERY DAY for many, many weeks. Maybe 2 months or more. It's outrageous.

- EdThis company has no legal power to collect on debt. It is what is called a "Zombi Dept Collector. In almost all cases it can not do anything but be a pain in the butt. Do not talk with these people. Do not ever send or agree to any payment. Keep track of the time date and number of calls from them. Check "Zombie Debt" on a search engine and get information on how you can sue them after you get enough information to charge them with harrament.

- Courtney| 1 replyThey have been calling me for the past month now. I never answer the phone and the people that leave these message really need to learn english! The last few days I've just been picking up the phone and letting them listen to the TV or radio playing or bang something really loud in their year. I have gotten them to go down from calling me 3 to 4 times a day to once or twice a week! They might just give up!!

- PMJust had a new cell number issued from ATT And within a day I started receiving calls from this company.
They exploit the minority card by employing real low life's. They do not even have the balls to stay on the line . They want you to call them back.
They are bottom gutter feeders. Do not provide any information.- Caller: ALW Sourcing LLC
