Call from a "law firm" named Ed Overcash. Would not divulge the reason for the call until I gave them the last four digits of my SSN. Also have gotten calls from something called called Capital Management using the same basic script.

The Law Office of Ed Overcash is a VERY aggressive credit card collecting ring.  They will stop at nothing to 'recover' debt for the credit card company.  They make threats, call other family members, treat the debtor like a piece of crap, you name it - they do it.
Even if your debt has been resolved, they still pursue you.

You're best bet is to fight fire with fire with these people.

Just to be clear The Law Office of Ed Overcash has nothing to do with Capital Management.  We are a separate company from them.  In Fact, The Law Office of Ed Overcash is part of a network of attorneys in every state assigned to collect upon unpaid credit card debt an focuses on Collection laws.  As for you Brenda Fiers we would stop calling you once you do pay yours' and own up to your defaulted Credit card debt.  Until then we will continue to contact you.  It is not the Law Office of Ed Overcash fault you didnt pay your bill.  Thank you

Same here....they claim to be a legit law office and according to the website:http://overcashlaw.com/atty.php, they are.
However, they will not discuss any matters unless they confirm that you are who they are looking for and then they want to verify your last four digits of your social.   DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!!!!  Amanda at ph# 888-51-1130 x. 147 called me today.  She would not tell me where she obtained my information.  She was very rude and persistent.  She wanted to know why I was so defensive.  I had hung up from a phone call the night before from a Scott Chambers, calling from the same ph# and stated he was calling from an atty. office in South Carolina.  I can't understand why these people are allowed to do what they are doing!!!!  Anyway....it's a scam.  Don't give them any personal information and just hang up.  I am blocking the phone# and have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.

That's right, report them. It's against the law to threaten you. Here is a sight that you can't report to about these collectors and by the way, capital management is the same way. They will lie to you because I know here is the sight the collectors don't want you to know this sight because they know what they are doing is wrong and you can sue them http://www.ftc.gov/

    Typical
Scammers like these thrive in economic crises.  They threaten you until you feel strongarmed into paying a debt that they claim you owe.  Simply put these people are sick. In essence, what you have here are people with sub-par intelect paid approximately $8-$12 and hour to harass you, make false claims and rattle off information that they probably shouldn't have in their posession to begin with. Don't deal with them.  If there is a debt you are responsible for, go directly to your source and deal with them.  In most cases the debtor has taken your nonpayment as a loss on their books, these people buy the debt for a fraction of its cost and then try to collect on the whole thing.  That's why they make offers like..."if you pay us today we'll cut it in half...."  I think we all know a true debt doesn't just get cut in half out of the goodness of their heart....come on.

I told these people today that I closed my small business and until I have a new job I can't pay. They answer was" OK, you refuse to pay, we will sue you."
I want to pay but right now I can't.

I have been bombarded by phone calls this week from Ed Overstreet's office and Capital Management simultaneously too.  Considering I have never possessed a Capital One account in my life and have told these yahoos they have the wrong guy, the calls keep coming.  I have invited Ed to contact my office and discuss the matter attorney to attorney, so perhaps I can get his people to cease and desist.  However, my patience is wearing thin.

I also have been bombarded by phone calls the last two weeks. I have asked for conformation before i send any money to these "people", and they tell me that i need to resolve this debt by the end of february($1000)dollars. I have been unemployed for quite some time and no income whatsoever, which i've told them and they still insist that i atleast pay them $200 dollars before this month is up. I truly believe they dont care if this country is in a recession or not. They should remember that thousands of americans are losing there jobs daily with families to support. For @!*#@# sake show some love Mr.ED OVERCASH, thats probably not even his real name!

Nice reply "bill collector" from Oct 2008 - you sure show the sense of class, sensitivity and understanding that we are dealing with when 'you people' call to harass those of us who have already made arrangements with the 'real' creditors.  By posting this nasty comment, I do believe you have given me enough of a basis for unfair harassment - see you in court, if you want to take it there!

    You'll never see a penny...
Since I now know these morons come onto these sites, I guess I'll waste just as much time as they do posting information about them.  Here are some numbers from Ted Nocash:

    *(864) 298-1130*
    *(888) 511-1130*
    *(864) 298-1141*
    *(864) 298-1145*
    *(888) 511-1145*

Do you people have to make a certain quota of successful calls per day?  All I hope is that this is just your day job and that, in the long run, you're chasing some sort of dream that you ended up maxing your credit cards out on trying to achieve.  Because if this is it for you, take a [removed:lang] leap, already.

    Kindest Regards,

    ;)

These monkeys have not called me but they sent me a threatening letter with my name and adresss stating I have a a balance with one bank I have never done business with. When I called they realized the had the wrong ss# and dob. They only told me I got some one else's mail, "like when you get your neighbor's pizza coupons by mistake" I requested a letter confirming the letter they sent me was a mistake and the rude supervisor (Joshua) told me he was not customer service and hung up on me. These idiots send letter without verifying any inforamtion, they make a mistake and then they treat you like crap! I dont know why these companies get business licenses.

The Law Offices of Ed Overcash have been calling me since July of last year. Come to find out, two companies had been sold my debt, and I had been dealing with the "wrong one", Ed Overcash.  Mister Joshua Bishop, manager there, after realizing I had settled elsewhere, became a dick on the phone with me when I called to inquire on where they got my account (to which the only thing he would tell me was CACH, and wouldn't give me a phone number), and proceeded to tell me I was wasting their time, and when told I would just contact the person I know who owns my account his response was, "Oh, so you are just going to call and waste their time then...".  This is MY CREDIT, this is MY INFORMATION, and someone is going to be answering to how this person acted with me, so be happy Mr. Bishop, I hope when the lawyer comes a calling with the stress you have put me under, that your company stands behind you.  This isn't proper business tactics, and this is MY information, and everything to assist me in getting down to the bottom of it should be provided, and not answered with a defensive response from a jerk.

I hate collection calls and rude personalities like the rest of you do - especially those who have bad information. However, I happen to know the Ed Overcash in this case. He is a retired judge and a respectable businessman, so you would be ill advised to take it to court or file a lawsuit unless you have a genuinely solid leg to stand on, and then you might still lose your case. If you have bad debt and don't care, you get what you deserve. If the caller is in error and you can prove it, your best bet is to do what someone mentioned earlier - contact the S.C. Bar Association and file a complaint. If they get enough legitimate cases, they will eventually act upon it. (I know, I know... you want it to stop right away. I've been in your shoes, and these organizations drag their feet, but be patient and it will work out to your satisfaction.)

    legit but a jerk?
You say he is legit, and yes his bio reads as such.  if he is, why would he employ people who don't follow the letter of the law, and instead resort to tactics that violate the law? Just because someone has been a judge doesn't make him above the law - in all honesty, why would a respectible judge get involved with the bottom-feeding 10-cents-on-the dollar collection business?  simply being associated with the industry .....when you lie down with dogs, you get fleas as they say in the south.....
