- Mitch replies to David M LaBuda| 1 replyDavid, I received a call this morning from 888-918-7313. After calling my credit union (Direct Federal Credit Union) to verify that that number was legit, I called them back and we determined that some else was trying to use my card this morning. We blocked those charges, canceled the card and issued a new card. This happened once before about 3 years ago. In my case, they did exactly what I would want them to do. Maybe their fraud algorithm has improved in the 2 years since your post.

- TAMMY| 2 repliesI WORK FOR A CREDIT UNION AND THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE CALLING OUR MEMBERS SAYING THEY NEED TO VERIFY INFORMATION ON THEIR MASTERCARD/DEBIT. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! IF A CREDIT UNION NEEDS ANY INFORMATION FROM YOU, THEY WILL NOT DO IT OVER THE PHONE!!!!
- Caller: CREDIT UNION
- BradThey asked for several pieces of personal info. But when they asked for my account number I ended the call. My CU told me that this number belongs to scammers.

- Daniel| 1 replyAnyone saying that "routine security checks" or any other topic at (888)918-7313 WORKS FOR THE SCAM, and is trying to refute the warning messages on this log. There are many "fake" credit union web sites that reference this number - purely to make you think it is legit. You have been warned!
- Caller: routine security check
- ReeniRcvd a call frm dffrnt # that left msg to call back on 888-918-7313 to prevent interuption of use of my credit/debit card. Tht was at 6:00 pm on Aug 3rd 2010 . I called my credit union nxt morning & was advised to call them back bcuz they work for my credit union trying to prevent fraud. Another words we have others watching our buying habits etc! They called me on transactions I do EVERY MONTH & I was livid. My credit union is working on the matter. The name of the company is PSCU &
is also known as Falcon. Bottom line they are Valid.- Caller: PSCU and or Falcon
- Linda| 1 replyThis is a legitimate call. Falcon Fraud is contracted by many credit unions to monitor their credit card security. If worried, call your credit union and asked to be transferred to the credit card security division.
I also checked my CU web site, and it lists Falcon as their security (no number listed, though. thus I just called my CU and have them transfer me instead). https://addisonavenue.com/resources/fraud_detection.htm
Got a message from Falcon Security with 1-888-918-7313 as a number due to suspicious card activity. I first called them. as they started to ask for my personal info beyond the phone number (which they obviously already had anyway, and is used to primarily identify which account they are looking at), I told them that I'm not comfortable giving them the info before I verify who they are. The woman said that they really appreciate that precaution, and told me that they are Falcon Fraud protection services, contracted by my credit union to monitor credit card security. She recommended two methods to verify their identity. First to call my credit union (and they identified which credit union) using the phone
number on the back of my card or on my statement, ask for their VISA security department and the CU should transfer me to Falcon. And once connected to say that I got a call regarding some suspicious activity on my credit card. Or I can ask them to give me the Falcon credit card security number, and I can call that number supplied by the CU (I think the 888-913-7313 is their central number, so some CU may have CU-specific 1-800 number). I did the former. It connected me to Falcon. After my identity verification they rattled off few recent charges which were all legit except one...
Falcon detected a charge by screensaversrise.com which was suspicious. I did not authorize the charge (charge was for $7.90) so they recommended that I cancel the credit card and have a new one issued as they believe someone was trying to break through my charge account. I closed the account and then did a search... and came across this.. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-240-284-4437 screensaversrise.com apparently is a front for a known stolen credit card number clearing house specializing in turning stolen card number into cash. was shocked. (why hasn't the CC companies shut them down, or FBI do something about them? I reported the incident to their identity theft complaint form via fbi.gov)
was very glad Falcon was doing their job and contacted me before the crooks did something really bad.- Caller: Falcon security
- EnricaAfter receiving a message to call this number, I called my credit union for verification as there's no way I'm going to release any personal information to someone I don't know. While I'm not clear on the connection between this business and my credit union, I was told by a supervisor that they had tried to contact me twice today (no messages received) and wanted to verify three credit card transactions that I had made and that turned out to be legitimate. So apparently the number is semi-legitimate, anyway.
- FasollkaLegit service, they were calling on behalf on my credit union, to verify pending authorizations on my credit card. In the past, this helped me catch several fraudulent charges before they had a chance to post. If the call is not answered, they usually leave a message asking to call them back. No personal info needs to be given other than the name, they simply try to verify suspicious charges. Sometimes it is a false alarm, but given my experience, I don't mind the occasional phonecall like that.
- Caller: Falcon Security
- KarenBefore calling these people back, I checked my credit card details online (something everyone should do periodically), and sure enough, there were $267.00 some dollars of fraudulent charges on my account. They canceled my card and will send a new one. So if you get a call from them, check your credit/debit card statements online and see if there is a problem. If you remember making those charges, no problem. If there are charges supposedly from companies you've never heard of (or would never buy from) or from supposed charities that you've never contributed to, give these folks a call and thank them for catching the fake charges.

- tshellI have a PenFed Visa card. Got a voicemail from Falcon Security (888) 918-7313 re suspicious activity. Called them back and they asked for my Name, Birthdate and the Case ID quoted on the voicemail. Then they were able to pull up my account info and verify several legit and fraudulent charges.
PenFed's website has this number listed as Falcon Verification https://www.penfed.org/aboutUs/contactUs.asp.
So this is definitely a legitimate call. I was told that the account is closed and PenFed will be mailing me a new card in the mail.- Caller: Falcon Security
- KyleThis is from credit services to make sure recent charges on a credit card are legit.
- xxxanother scam
- xmanbabyThis is a legitimate call.
This morning I called a company in the UK to pay for a computer hard drive that they fixed and I paid with my credit card. About 2 or 3 hours later I had a message from this phone number with a 'case ID' and they wanted me to call them back about some recent charges to my account.
I called my credit union first and they verified that they do work with a company that monitors their accounts. I provided my details to the credit union, they verifed that I had received a call from the outside company and it was because I made a purchase for several hundred dollars outside the US. The credit union person I spoke to updated their records (the charge was legitimate and I knew all about it) and told me I did not need to call back the 8889187313 number.
This was all welcome for me as within hours of making a charge I had them calling me to verify that I was behind the charge. I felt like someone has my back! But if you have any questions, just call your bank/credit union first like I did. - ToddAbsolutely legitimate. They are a third party company that is a contractor for many banks and credit unions to protect customers from fraudulent credit card charges. When I refused to give them my date of birth, they gave me the complete name of their company and told me to contact my credit union and/or the number on the back of the card for lost or stolen cards. They verified the company as legitimate and contracted by my credit union. They called me within 24 hours of 3 pretty large internet purchases (ON THANKSGIVING no less!!!) So all in all, I am pretty happy with my credit union for contracting this company. I didn't even know they existed.
- Caller: PSCU/FALCON
- KevinThis is legit. I just got a call from this number, claiming a fraudulent charge had been attempted at a toys-r-us today in Tennessee for over $900. Initially, I was skeptical, but I called back my credit union and they confirm it was a legitimate call from their security department.
- KakaduDreamer| 1 replyGeez, this whole thread just pisses me off! Some folks say this is a scam, and some say it's legit. Which the hell is it? It can't be both!
Anyway, I called the number today and they told me I had suspect charges on my account, but I can't contact my credit union today to verify what the hell is going on (it's Sunday and their customer service center is closed).- Caller: Educational Empl CU Star Debit, Omaha NE (on letterhead)
- DHThis was a legit call. My Credit Union's security agency verifying credit card/debit purchases.
They were polite, informative, and did a great job. - JamesI received two calls from this number on behalf of my credit union (BECU). I apprehensively called the number and found it was legitimate. The representative walked me through the recent charges (business and amount), asking whether they were mine -- in the end, there were more than $1K in fraudulent charges. I asked them what their business name was and they said that BECU knew them as "PSCV Financial Services" or "Falcon" -- the fact that they said BECU knows them by these names may indicate that they may use different names with other banks/credit unions.
- Caller: PSCV Financial Services -or- Falcon
- Card Compromised replies to scottoThis is a legit call. I called my directly though and they told me that my card had been used 3 times in another state. I got it shut down. I hate these people that are getting away with this. We work hard for our money and its not fair that they are free loading.
