- hawkeye replies to PeteThese pests are enriching the phone companies, and the Treasury, so it's not in the interest of TPS, ICO, or any other Government Quango to interfere in the abuse of unsolicited calling even though it is an EU Directive(PECR2003) which applies to all EU member States, including the UK. Phone providers sell various facilities like, Anonymous Caller Reject, Call Barring, for around £100 per anum for both; so you can imagine the revenue this generates for the Government. The most effective way to deal with this pestering is to get the national media involved, because they have no vested interest, or gain from these companies.

- ElmoEric from PPI Claims Line first called from "00501" asking for someone who the scammers have ask for before and mentioned an address they have also used before (neither of which are anything to do with me.)
I told him the line was bad, so he offered to, and did, phone me back from a different phone "002392987559".
He gave the same rubbish about having paid off my loan that he could get me money back from the PPI insurance because I hadn't claimed on it. He told me I had paid off my loan on time and I was of good character (despite not knowing my name.) He wanted to know which bank I had got my loan from. He claimed he had the information, but he couldn't tell me because of security issues. I told him it was obviously a scam and that I would report him and I hung up.
Call Type: Scam- Caller: PPI Claims Line
- SteveJust had a call from them and they claimed to be calling from Microsoft saying they were receiving error codes from my computer. They said they had to sort it out and when I told them they were a scam they went all defensive and tried to get me to turn on my computer etc. HANG UP ON THEM.
- Caller: Claimed to be Microsoft

- santafeJust had a call from man claiming that he can get me money back from old PPI. After shouting down the phone to him 7 times, telling hime
I have never had a loan in my life, he finally put the phone down. I have now got a whistle by the side of my phone, I will give the next cold calling pest a headache ten times worse than they are giving me. If they call you about your pc, tell them you are 86 and do not have a computer, it normally works. - Monica| 1 replyStarted to receive a whole range of calls from numbers like 00501...started about a month ago and get between 4 & 6 calls a day! He we obviously then leading up to asking me bank account details so I told him to p**s off and hung up. - Fed-UpI just got a call from these, I never answered but it's just a long line of people trying to phone me. So far today (and it's not even 11.30am) I've had 0, then unavailable, then 00, then 000, then unavailable again now 00501. 6 calls in a few hours. It's been the same for about a week, up to 10 calls a day from 0, 00, 000 and unavailable. Now this new number. It's ridiculous and TalkTalk do NOT care!
- Anup replies to Missy| 1 replythis is the number of Microsoft
- trevor thompsoncan you stop this number
- Brian replies to AnupAnup; either you're a troll or one of the scammers based in an Indian call centre.
What I'm absolutely certain of, is that this number is definitely not Microsoft Support calling to solve a (non-existent) virus problem. Nor is it a legitimate financial/legal company dealing with PPI repayment claims or loans.
The callers from 00501 are SCAMMERS, FRAUDSTERS and CRIMINALS.
My advice is to not verify or give any personal details AT ALL. Get yourself a CALL BLOCKER (Google it) and block unwanted calls. - george replies to b patelreport it to ofcom
- MarcAsked if I had made a motor insurance claim in the last 24 month. Bad line, and poor english. I hung up.
