- MexJust got a call from these scammers, asked to speak to me by name, I asked who was calling , they said they were calling from "the bank" I asked which bank, and they said they couldn't tell me due to confidentiality and the data protection act, I laughed at them and hung up. Hope they enjoy their new home in my blocked callers list.
- ScottReceived on yesterday on my mobile timed at 20:15. No response from caller and no voice mail. I agree these cold marketing calls are becoming a real nuisancs

- Reg| 1 replyMy wife just received a call on her mobile from this number. Caller said that they were ringing up about changes made to her Tesco Mobile account. She suspected that it was not a genuine call as she had made no changes or even contacted Tesco mobile and abruptly brought the conversation to a close. After reading the growing list of comments above, it would appear that as most of the calls previously recorded claimed to be on behalf of banks, building societies etc and not a mobile phone company then she made the right decision.
- Caller: Tesco Mobile? (claimed to be)
- coolforgotTele Maggots, it's only right to try and forgive these poor mugs, who cant get a proper job, what a way to live eh !
- Caller: Annon Maggots
- denisgot a call from this number. they knew my name, bank, and address. and the day i was in my building society. asked to do a survey. then asked me to name the transaction i was in the bank for. a specific transaction. i stopped there - and asked for the supervisor. the person gave me a number - i rang and it was a nationwide out of office message - or was it? will phone again tomorrow. - the 'survey' company rang me just after 7.30 pm! they also gave a name of speaker, which i asked for. i will try to check it out tomorrow.
just dialed the number 01233648537 - answer machine said it was (i think) Fax (or Facts?) International - a Market Research Company and an MRS Company Partner. the message explained i may have been called about a survey - and that they work for many banks...
hope this helps - of course all of this could still be a fabrication for all i know at this time.
(even if this is all above board - it doesn't seem a good way to go about things to me) - MeJust had a call from this number and they wanted the wife.
they said it A survey and would not give any other details so they got no details when the wife would be about. it works both ways i get no info they get no info- Caller: survey

- Caller: missed call
- TigerEngage them in conversation as they are paying for the call. after a minute or so Ask them to hang on while you get the information they are looking for and leave them dangling. Alternatively say"Just a moment while I get them " let out a shout saying "Hi John there.s acall for you" beside the cradle and put the phone

- Dick Turpin replies to Jimbean500to Jimbean500 "what 147? and whats 1471 got to do with it?" thanks for pointing out my lack of explanation on this comment. These methods allow other telephone users to make calls anymously and thereby protect users such as cod callers and nuisance callers to take avantage of people at home on the phone. This means that when we try to find out wh is calling etc the numbers are untraceable or flash up as unavailable etc etc. dialling 147 etc on a landline will withhold callers number so you do not know who or why you are called as the number does not register on recipients telephone. in the case of mobile phones these type of calls will be listed as 'unknown'. If this system was removed it would go a long way to preventing many such calls. however, it will not stop all nuisance calls and other measures need to be applied to do this. Hope this explanation helps.
Dick turpin - gcI got a call from this number on my landline. I do not have the facility at the moment to block all future calls on this line, but my mobile number is different. All [***] calls to my mobile are very easily blocked by immediately adding the number to the blocked list. This bounces all calls and texts. Let them spend money calling me forever. I never know about it - brilliant!!!
- denfloI received a phone call from this same number asking to speak to my husband. I asked who was speaking and what was it about The well spoken man replied it was concerning his building society account. I told him he did not have one and TO NEVER PHONE THIS NUMBER AGAIN. The next day I changed my number. I will only give out this number to family and friends as I have recently been scammed and once bitten twice shy.

- FrustratusBeen ignoring all calls prior to 6pm, but just got this 01233648537 call at 6:40pm, now they are going into the evening. Why can't somebody put a stop to them, surely BT have the technology to trace these calls and then close them down.

- Jim YakamotoThis is a company called "Fax International". They do market research for banks. They are members of the MRS group.
Basically ... they are a bunch of con artists. Report them to your bank and give them this telephone number so they can chase them. It may also be worth your while reporting them to the Police so they can chase them
What they are after is the answer to your security questions. What they use them for I don't know, if they are a legitimate company. If not .. the Police need to be on to them.
It has been suggested that the banks actually DO get them to suss out your security info. Then if you are hacked and lose a pile of money to scammers, the bank can produce the evidence that you have given out your security info ..... and refuse to reimburse your cash. In other words it's a bank scam to stop them having to pay you back if they lose your money.
Bankers ? I can think of another word that rhymes, which is much more apt !- Caller: Fax International
