- SRI got a text aswell from C.A.R.S and to call Lucy Palmer urgently with a ref number. I called and was asked to confirm my name, I did, she then asked me to confirm my DOB...I said why, who are you? She informed me CARS was something like "Credit 'something' Recovery Service". She wouldnt tell me why she was contacting me without me confirming my details so she said she would send me a letter through the post! No idea what it is all about!

- LouiseHi everyone. I had an unexpected bill for Admiral Insurance breakdown recovery, £95.
I disputed with Admiral, and while i was disputing started getting numerous texts and phonecalls from this C.A.R.S place.
In the end, i just paid up. in fact i have just come off the phone to them.
Although i begrudged paying the £95 (long story, i basically requested breakdown recovery from my insurance not realising i wasn't covered, then cancelled it not realising i still had to pay), in the end i realised there was no way out of it and i just paid up.
C.A.R.S are a debt recovery firm as you have probably all worked out. They are contacting you because they are following instructions from a company who believe you owe money to.
***The best thing to do is just give them your name and address as they ask, then they can tell you who the company is that you owe the money to, and you can dispute it with them.***
Trust me i did not have £95 to spare and was NOT happy about paying, but at the end of the day C.A.R.S. are just following instructions. Take it up with the company you owe the money to.- Caller: C.A.R.S

- Steph Lou| 1 replyI recieved a text today asking to call a lucy palmer on 01256306797. Anybody actually know if this is a scam or not? i have seen fitness first mentioned and wondered if its to do with me cancelling my dd to them?

- AnuDamn them! I too... like most people got this text with a ref no. asking me to contact the Palmer woman!
Anyway I know it's about the fitness first contract, which btw I would like some help with.
I joined FF in Nov 2009 on a 'Lifestyle' membership, which is a one year contract. I had to urgently travel to India this July, so I called the branch I go to and told the woman on the line, I needed to terminate the contract early and asked if it was possible. She said the obvious - it's a one-year contract and can't be terminated early. So anyway, I HAD to go and didn't see point of paying for a service I don't need and am not using. So I went to the bank and stopped the Direct Debit payments to FF, at the end of July, before leaving. I returned a few days ago and saw 2 letters from FF saying I had breached the contract and had to pay them a fine + whatever the dues where for august and september. I've completely ignored the text from Lucy palmer's company 'C.A.R.S' ... because, well if you're not going to tell me who you are and why your contacting me, and still have the audacity to ask me my details, like anyone else, I WILL ignore you.
When I called the head office now telling them my situation, they said I would have to pay outstanding fees + the fine and I would also have to continue paying for october and november?! Which is something I don't WANT to do, since I won't be using their service anymore. They didn't enter any minimum period on my contract (it's left blank) and there's also no signature of the GM. Also, their contract states ' we have the right to terminate your membership, if fees or other charges remain unpaid after 7 days of the due date. So then, can anyone explain to me why I should continue to pay them for october and november if my membership hs been terminated by them?
I'm still willing to pay (if absolutely necessary) the fees for aug - sept and the fine, which btw amounts to a total of £168.80 ... but I will absolutely not pay for oct-nov. Also when getting the membership, I was told this is a 1 year contract, which will by default end in nov 2010. Now the guy from the head office says it will 'roll over' if I don't sort it out.... WTF!
Any help/advise would be highly appreciated
Thanks- Caller: C.A.R.S.

dont owe anyone so they can take a hike, glad i checked out C.A.R.S. first on google - Pat SelwoodI also got a message to call Lucy Palmer URGENTLY on this number. As I have had so many problems with Tiscalli now called Talk Talk who have ignored all of my letters to them and have continually tried to harrass me by phone I can only presume it must be them as this is their service so if you haven't signed up with them I strongly advise you not to.
