I had a call from this telephone number and it is something to do with endowment policies relating to mortgages

This number 01473 241700 has called each day this week and never leaves a message, just hangs up!  It is a nuisance to me.

Had a call on these lines a few weeks back (supposedly my son - not me - had taken out house insurance), not sure of the number, but got one yesterday from 241700, claiming their records showed I had an endowment mortgage (I have no mortgage) - I asked where this information came from; "market reseaerch survey" - on a point of principle (awkwardness?) I have NEVER answered one of these - so I stated that whoever had (supposedly) given my name and address was guilty of identity theft, and suggested that the police be contacted - the immediate response was that they would "pass it to their investigation department".
Received another call today, same spiel - this time I asked them to wait a moment, then came back and asked them to repeat what they had said. I then told them that I was recording the call, had received one yesterday and repeated what I had said - but this time also added that I was passing all this information and the recording to the police as they were continuing to pester me and gain business on information that they now knew to be incorrect and unlawfully given......
I didn't actually record it or tell the police (yet), but I wonder whether they'll call again? If they do, I think the next time WILL be recorded and passed on....

This website is a great service. I too received a call which hung up. I cant see what they get out of it maybe their operators cant operate (a phone). Still keep up the good work advising people to stay away from these noodleheads.

This company refer to themselves as the Ministry of Justice and make out that they are a government department assisting you to claim for a mis-sold endowment. I'd heard of this scam before they called and challenged the caller about this. She back-tracked and said they were regulated by the Ministry of Justice. I asked for their website address - which if it was a genuine government dept it would end in '.gov.uk'. Needless to say it ends in '.net', a private company. Even their written reply below tries to make out they're 'regulated by the ministry of justice to perform these tasks.' No, you're simply regulated by the M of J - don't try and make out you're doing anything on their behalf.

I have just answered a call from this bunch - they have been trying a few times over the last few days. They say they are Endowment Advisory Service and try to hurry you into agreeing to let them handle your compensation claim. I wasn't sure about this and googled them when I came across your website. I do have an endowment policy but wasn't sure where they got my info and didn't challenge - could hardly get a word in to interrupt the sales pitch.

They called me this morning so I googled the number and hey presto here I am!  They were rattling on about bank charges! If I wanted to get my 00.1p per month interest back for the past 6 years then I would simply ask my bank - I am sure they would oblige!!  I think a lot more people may be getting calls re the bank charges now due to the recently ruling by the Law Lords.....!!!  This company are just smelling money and running in the direction of it.

BTW I also am registered with the TPS!  Would love to know how they got my number??

Called me back again (twice in one day) I have now warned them that any future calls from them will result in legal action for harassment! I really suggest that no one deals with them as they are very very dodgy!  BTW this time they were talking about endowments (which I have never had!!!!)

This number has called me twice so far and when I answer there is no-one there and I certainly will not be calling them back.

If you going to claim for endowment shortfall do this yourself, not through a company like this as they take a big chunk for the pleasure of a few phone calls and letters..

Rang this morning and hung up as soon as I answered, but I think they've rung before and have tried to get in contact with my mum (who I say is never in) about endowments and they just say they'll ring back later. Didn't check the number those times though, never crossed my mind. However, I have reason to believe it's just a scam of some sort because I don't believe we have anything to do with any endowments.

Well little different for me - phones rung a couple of times but they have never actually spoken - goes very quiet and then hangs up!
I would never divulg info over the foneto unknown sources anyway - so they are wasting their time.
But it is odd that their number is traceable through 1471!

This number is also used by debt collecting agencies. It's a hired line/service used by many companies to deliberately hide behind.

I used to work for Ministry of Justice - this is nothing to do with them, nor does the MoJ regulate such activities.
Caller just did not answer when I picked up the phone.  My suggestion - just let them keep talking (at their own expense) which means they are not bothering someone else.

we've had the same - endless calls whereas they hang up as soon as you answer. Eventually they DID leave a message on the 1571 message service, saying they were calling about mis-sold endowment. I have no idea where they got our number, as we're also exdirectory, but funny enough, and maybe more than just coincidence, the amount of loans and credit 'help' junk mail coming through the door has increased too...
I called them back, and just told them I knew exactly what I was doing at the time we got the endowment(they did try to covince me otherwise) and then I asked them to remove our numbers totaly from their database as their regular dropped calls were a real big pain.  
My advice - BE FIRM but polite, say no thank you, and TELL them that you want to be removed from their list. Hopefully that'll be the last of it. Fingers crossed!

I'm sick of these people ringing me.  When I answer there's no-one there.  They always seem to know when I'm upstairs so I keep on stopping what I'm doing and run down the stairs incase it's something important, like the kids' school or something.  They are a pain in the [***].

Just had a call from this number they hung up when I answered . I am registered with TPS. I answered a telephone survey a fortnight ago i told them i did not want my number or any imfomation passed on to third parties,they agreed to this but obviously they have passed my number on. Moral of this story DON'T believe any of the lying B***TARDS.
