Just had a call from a Scottish Guy.
He asked for my details to confirm that I was who I said I was (I'd already told him that he was talking to the right person) , I asked what it was about and he said that he could not tell me unless I gave him my personal details. I told him that unless he told me who he was was and what the call was concerning then he would get no details from me ....... he said," well thats the end of the converstaion then, and hung up.. It was like a Monty Python sketch.
As if youre going to give your details to a stranger !

Whoever they are they want to people with  more than one brain between them, it obviously wasn't his turn.

this number keeps calling 01482 590502 asking for an indian sounding name.

Told BT about the calls and they have changed number because they gave me the number and introduced the problem in the first place.

I decided to be a bit brave and answer to this number yesterday and no one spoke. They have rang me 4 times already today. If it is Westcott it isn't mysel that will want to speak to but my partner. As he contacted them once from my mobile and now keep tryinmg to contact using my number. I was wondering how many times a company can call you before it becomes harrassment I think the fact that no one is there is also slightly annoying

i moved house 12 months ago and informed my utility supplier of the move but they kept sending the final bill to old address and after months of calls to them to ask where the bill was they referred it to "westcott debt services" and i went crazy as it was they're fault! got straight onto "westcott" who were going to bill me nearly a hundred more than the final bill was originally and then to the utility supplier and flipped with them and they couldnt apologise enough!

Called me up, I've had some problem with 3 recently.

To be fair to them, the personal details they asked for is what I, as a call centre op am required to ask for, so I didn't really have qualms about giving up my address and PC.

And also, they got the amount of debt spot on. When I told them about my grievances with them, gent was apologetic and nice enough.

They rang asking for someone specific (not me). I said they werent here. They gat extremely rude, would not tell me the nature of the call and would arrange for someone to call back. Wouldnt tell me where they were calling from or who they were. VERY DODGY!!!! AND RUDE!!!
    • Caller: Wouldnt say and put phone down on me!

They have phoned me 3 or 4 times in last few days. They won't say what it's about and ask me to confirm my postcode. I just refuse and put phone down. Confirming details is fine when I ring the bank but what muppet gives out details to someone who cold calls them and won't say what it's about!!! And I definitely don't have any debts. Only worrying thing is they seem to know my name and mobile number. Am prob going to report it to my local police.

My husband gets pestered with these people constantly.
He used to say to them that if they keep hassling him he would go to a lawyer etc but it makes no difference whatsoever...
They use different numbers to try and catch you out I suppose so he has a reject list full of numbers from these people.
He can get up to a dozen calls a day...all rejected...but they do not take the hint!!

I agree with a few others that if a company is legitimate and law abiding...they would contact you by post and not by phone.

    MY ADVICE...
Do not answer any number you are not familiar with...
Check the number on this site (it has been a godsend to us!!)...
If you find it is Westcot or any other 'debt' agency, then add to your reject list...
They will still try to call but least you wont be pestered by constant calls...
