Had an automated message from this number this afternoon asking to call them back.  Should I ring them???

It isnt a scam. I had a postcard from them to call them so I did.
They call when you owe money. It sucks but we borrow money ect so we pay it.

He is obviously in debt. They contacted me....now its being sorted. They seemed really nice and sorted out a reasonable payment plan

Yes Fiona. Westcot are so helpful...................not. Parasites. Ignore them people. They have NO powers at all. Can only assume they got their worker droids posting on here. They are scum. Unsecured debt? They can't touch you. Pay your rent, gas, electric. Feed the kids. DCA's come bottom of the chain. 100% SCUM

A woman with a strong Glaswegian accent called from 'Westgate' or 'Westcote' Credit Services and demanded the first line of my address. When I asked what it was about she simply said 'it's an important personal matter and if you don't tell me, we'll just keep calling you back'. I said I know who my bank and pension fund are and asked for at least a general indication of what the call was about and she said she couldn't tell me until I confirmed my address. At which time I said, 'OK, I'm going to run a check on this number - you can call me back but I can't promise I'll answer'.

I definitely do not have any debts, so if it is a collection agency they aren't getting anything out of me!!

Number called me today and asked for me by name, to which I said speaking... they then asked me to confirm my address I said what is it about? They said they couldnt tell me unless I confirmed my address so I said I would not tell them unless they told me wjat it was about.

She then stated that as they had not managed to cofirm my identitiy they could not tell me anything else. ?

Weird.

I think they are a debt service for sure but I  havent a clue what its for? Maybe my ex would know :-)

Anyway I would say if you are debt free then dont answer.. if you are not then its up to you if you want to find out why they are chasing you...   If they have your number then likely they already have your address anyway !

I get them ringing me asking for a Sarah Parker.
Got sick of telling them they had the wrong number, so now I just answer YES to every question they ask.
Call centre staff like these are paid by results and if I waste their time having a little fun so be it.
My record is 17 mins and that included the caller and 2 different supervisors !

Same scam - trying to collect personal details and rang off saying they would call me everyday once I challenged them. I reported it to Vodafone and added it to my silent profile... also warned my wife to do the same. Should be a way to close these vermin down.

My partner works for various gas and electricity companies and their policies are usually the same, they demand half the balance upfront to get set up on a payment plan or the other option is a pre-paid meter (if you are still with the company).

We had a the same promblem with this company but their client was Scottish Power, we recieved a £1500 electricity bill on a PRE-PAID METER which we contstantly disputed, they transfered the account over to them and we were advised that if we didn't pay they would raise a warrent and have our electricity cut off - we have 2 disabled children in the house and are WELL aware of our rights, plus we had moved to Britidh Gas 3 months before they started calling.

We very kindly sent them a copy of the video we took of the call on loud speaker with attention being focused on the phone number we also sent them copies of the proof of postage showing a copy being sent to Scottish power and the office of fair traiding as their call breaches numberous rules and regulations of their consumer credit license.......revenge is soooo sweet.

Another useful tip is when they ask for the wrong person ask them to hold on a second as you were in the middle of something and keep them hanging on they will get bored before you do

My way to annoy cold callers is just to answer the phone but to remain completely silent (I've got caller id so I can tell if it's someone I know, or if it's a cold caller ringing a second time) - sometimes it really freaks the cold caller out, and sometimes they don't hang up the phone properly, meaning I am not only stopping one of their lines from annoying other people, but also costing them money.  My record for keeping the connection going is 29 hours in a phone call with O2, who were constantly ringing my number wanting someone who didn't live here.  They've never rung since.

Anyhow this number just left a message asking me to ring them, but I'll wait until they ring me back so I can annoy them.

I find screaming at them makes them hang up pretty quick.

got a call from this number but didnt answer as dont recognise the number. Then recieved a voiceamail off them asking me to call westcot services. who are these people??

I just got a phone from a girl saying she was phoning from westcot and asked me to confirm my address and post code. when I asked what was the reason of her call, she said she will let me know once I confirm the details. I asked her again to first tell me why she was phoning and she went bananas and hung up by saying she was going to end the call....................such a rude,illiterate and arrogant girl she was.........I will never give out my personal details specially on an inbound call when I dont know the reason why I have been contacted

westcott, calls for person who doesnt live here, still call even though write and spoke to them.

Had a miss call and i googled the number code was a hull area put it in fully and seen all the messages and has worried me, but i'm glad i didnt answer.

These guys are very rude and when I would give my address - she hung up!

scam, never been in debt and they just want ur details.

These guys were calling me asking for Miles Barnard. I kept telling them i didnt know who he was and that i was the first person to live here and the first with this number.  I asked them to remove my number and they said i could not do that. They told me that they had been provided with my details and that i had probably been given a recycled number (landline). I called BT who said it wasnt recycled.  They then stopped calling after that. Last night they started calling again this time asking for Andy Ward.  I told them that a few weeks ago they were calling me and asking for Miles Barnard.  They told me the same again that i probably had a recycled number.  They never ask for my address but refuse to answer when i ask what town they think they are calling.  Are there no commsioners such as OFCOM who these people can be reported to.
