Karen, I hear what you are saying and in some ways I agree with you entirely.  However, the real problem is the "advisers" or "introducers" who recommend or advise the investments in these schemes.  If you were to go for every dodgy, risky, toxic, unwise financial activity you would have to shut down every betting shop, race course, casino and poker room in the world.  And don't forget, a few risky start-up ventures have turned out very well, while the majority have failed.  It is up to the adviser to analyse the risk and make a competent decision as to whether the risk of the investment matches the risk appetite of the investor.

And if I'm not mistaken wasn't the celeb endorsement done by our old friend Quentin Wilson?
