    It's not British Gas - it's a scam trying to get money off you.
    Agree with Eric - ignore it and don't ring back as they can make money out of you in that way.
    Anyone you know or important will get in touch legitimately.
    I had this number call me in May.

    Anyone had the phone number 0412283089.  Has 'AN URGENT MESSAGE FOR MISS LITTLEWOOD'
    which says to call a certain number.
    HAVE IGNORED IT.

    Had a very strange recorded message stating 'it is very important you contact immediately regarding your BG energy supply. I did contact Brit Gas on the proper number found on a bill and guess what...they had no idea why i had received that message. Even she was very suspicious...asking if it sounded like a foreign accent. She checked all my accounts and confirmed nothing outstanding or needing action. She said she would type up the incident and leave details on my account for future reference.  Bset comment from her, don't call them, if it's that urgent they will no doubt call you again!. I.E. ignore them!! Have done and will continue to do so!

    this is british gas i have recieved phone calls neally every hour for the last 3 weeks from them i answered last week to the a women started asking me my customer account number said im with scottish power she asked for the phone number they have been contacting me on i told her she told me the account was for some1 that says in crewe   im scottish and stay in fife   told me she would take me off the database but as yet im still getting phone calls

    Just had a call from this number telling me they were British Gas and they had not received my payment and I could pay by Debit Card, which I refused to do, so was told my next bill would be higher as they had not received my payment but I could save money if I paid now by card but I still refused, I will not give out my card number unless I have phoned them, so please do not give out personnal details if you are not sure.

    I emailed that Peter guy and got an auto-response saying they would look into things and get back to me.

    Not a lot to ask for a copy of a bill before paying it.  I suspect that this is an offshore call centre.  Anyone?

    Thanks for posting this, i was worried i'd forgot to pay something, luckly they called me at work so i did not answer.

    British Gas hassling for a 2 day overdue bill. I explained I would call back later in the evening when I had my cards on me to pay, they wouldn't take this for an answer, even hassled me for my partner's number so she could pay. I asked to speak to a manager, after being on hold for a further 7 minutes I had to hang up. I then phoned their complaints department to complain about the aggressive attitude of the caller, and asked them to listen back to the call. Shock! They couldn't trace the call!

    Conclusion is, this combined with the 7% price increase announced today, I'm taking both my gas and electricity custom elsewhere - both my home account and my company. This number and the person on the other end just cost British Gas a pair of accounts totalling somewhere around £10k per year.

    British gas are not having it good at the moment, a bad rep from this scam AND there gas and elec prices are up another 7%

    British Gas recovery department. Oh the joys!

    My Direct Debit got cancelled by my bank. The very next day I called British Gas and reset the Direct Debit and also made the first payment that had been missed by the cancelled Direct Debit. All sorted.

    .....oh no it wasn't!

    Received an automated phone call with no caller at the other end. Returned the call, only to be told I owed this amount of money and that I needed to pay it pronto!  The guy wouldn't listen to me whatsover, as I tried to explain the DD was reset. Then told me to stop shouting, which I wasn't!  His abruptness finally pushed me over the line, so I decided to shout abuse and put the phone down. (felt great! Raaaah!)

    2 mintues later another call from the Recovery Department and this time a nice calm and polite gentleman wanted my payment. This time he allowed me to explain myself and my situation. He confirmed the DD had NOT been reset as I was told it had been. So he kindly reset the DD for the original amount.

    What a F***ing joke!!  Talk about one department doesn't know what the other is doing!!!  

    A complete waste of my time and brought me to boiling point in less that 20 seconds.
