Just had a call  from this number - it was a recorded message saying - dont hang up etc - I hung up. Then the post man delivered a bill from them that was now a red one ( I had forgotten all about paying over xmas and now with all the snow etc and not being able to get out etc.....wooops)
Anyway as I was reading the bill, I got a phone call from 08000724699... british gas  AGAIN!!! asking if I would like to know about their "products" my daughter told them If I was interested I would call them back....NOT!

Okay we did owe B.Gas some money for an outstanding bill... BUT they keep ringing even though it has been paid ages ago. They ask for someone who doesn't even exist, and get as many as 7 silent calls every day.

I've tried to explain that its all up to date and the person they want to speak to is incorrect... Do they listen? Do they F***.... I don't normally swear, but they are now driving me to it.

I was told yesterday that they also ring one of my friends who is NOT a B.Gas customer and never has been. They have told him he has to pay £300 for an outstanding invoice - WHY? he's never even been one of their customer (and won't ever be now)...

this number is annoying.I have debt or any business with British gas but they keep on phoning me. I ALWAYS IGNORE THE NUMBER.

i get 4 or 5 calls a day......when i answer the phone it goes all silent then a long tone as if they have hung up

I get the  initial call around 8am everyday and then twice during the day.   I think it is linked to a company called LCS because I have received a letter from them saying I owe BG money despite the fact that I don't have an account with them and I actually was living in another part of the country in the period they said the gas was consumed. Besides, it is my partners flat (she was also not in the property in the said period) and I only stay there occasionally. In my opinion, it borders on harassment but I have chosen to ignore the calls, however I believe there should be some sort of legal steps an individual can take that will prevent them from harassing innocent citizens.

0161 332 6130 called me just now (for the first time) to thank me for paying my British Gas Bill.  Is this a joke/prank?  I felt very uncomfortable with this phone call but clearly they had my mobile number and quoted the exact amount I had just paid to British Gas a few hours ago via telephone.  Are they for real???

keep getting calls for a Mrs Turner!  No idea who, I have lived here for 5 years!!!!!!  Wont stop calling even though I have told them not to - SICK OF IT.....

This number has just started phoning me! I have constant phone calls from British gas throughout the day - everyday! It doesn't matter how many times I tell them I'm not interested they keep persisting. Can't belive this is them too!

Called today during working hours asking me to pay my bill over the phone or I will incur charges of £14 (i think this is what they said cause i could hardly understand a word that they were saying). They said they were from British Gas and quoted how much I owe but there was no way I was going to give my card details over the phone to some random. When I said I'd pay over the internet he started telling me they wouldn't receive the money instantly and that I would still be charged. Also asked me to provide an email address even though they already have the details of this cause they send bill electronically. Don't know if this is scam or not but when they start harassing me at work for bill that is only a week overdue then am not gonna be answering again!

The 0161 no. has been calling me at least twice a day for a week - no one is on the line when I answer. I called them back on an 0800 number that was left by an automated service on my answerphone and it went through to British Gas Collections who they said just to ignore the calls and that they were caused by a system error! What a waste of time. They are rubbish. I would write to the complaints dude but clearly as you guys did that in 2008 it had no effect so not going to waste any more time on it!

Its BRITISH GAS. Why do these big companies think that 'prank calling' is clever? They think that we will call back so that they dont have to pay the phone bill? It is an OUTRAGE!

Have been called on our land line which is ex directory,once a day for the last 5 days,when we answer phone is put down.

this number keep calling, when i answer they give 10 secs then hang up

Calling me at least 25 times a day for the past 2 weeks driving me mad as I gave a newborn son and the phone keeps waking him up I refuse to disconnect but I just scream when I answer hopefully will annoy them out of ringing haha

Well Neil, believe it or not...I have had several calls from this number too in the last few days.

As several posters have said....when you answer the phone it goes dead... I do NOT owe British Gas any money.

I am going to call up the customer services department and demand they remove my number from their database or I will report them to the data protection agency.
