Had a call today from Redress claims allegedly. The call back number was 0161 660 2344. I checked with the bona fida company and they don't cold call and it was not one of their phone numbers. They are based in Bradford the 0161 number and the rest of the call is a scam to get your credit card numbers and your building society roll number.

Got a call from them this evening. Indian lady tells me about claiming credit card charges from cards before 2007. She passes me over to a indian male called Antony Hawkins. He gave me his company ID number and address and also he says his personal phone number to contact him any time if i have difficulties with the form. I started to give information and then i thought about it. I told him i did not have the start and end date of the card and he said to call my credit card company and get a new card. I had however given my card number. how stupid am i. This guy told me he will call back on Friday.
I called my credit card company and cancelled the card immediately. Thank God. This company are using lots of different numbers to call from and i just saw a message similar to mine and the lady had already had £1,200 taken from her card by the time she realized and called her card company.
If he keeps to his word and calls on Friday i will let him know in no uncertain terms that people are on to them.

Had a call tonight at 6.30. Got passed from one indian person to another then another who was called Raymond Davies.  He asked me to list what credit cards i had before 2007 because i could claim back 3 grand for each card due to being ripped off by the credit card companies.  After 25 minutes on the phone (more fool me) he asked for the expiry date of one of my credit cards which thank god i said i didnt have to hand so he will call me back tomorrow at 4pm.  So glad i did a search on the telephone he gave me which was 0161 6602344.  How can this be allowed to go on time and time again.
I feel really angry with them and myself for listening.  At least i didnt give any details away but where can they get your name and address and telephone number .. makes me sick.
Quite looking forward to 4pm tomorrow now.  Cant swear on here but will to him.

The man called himself Steven (I found this to be not impossible, but less likely), as he had a strong Asian accent.  Before anyone accuses me of being racist, I am Asian myself.  He claimed to be from the Ministry of Justice, wanting to refund '£3000' of excessive credit card charges.  I knew immediately this was a scam, as this would not fall under their remit.  The Financial Services Authority would deal with this; or your bank would contact you directly.  They didn't ask any data protection questions.  PLEASE BE VIGILANT.

Guy caller Leonard called similar to above posts. I asked for website address & contact number, he became evasive but eventually gave me the Manchester number & redress claims website address - do these scammers actually work for that company or are they just using redress claims as a cover?

Can I thank all those above who have commented. I was a fool and was duped into giving my details before I realised what was happening. I woke in the middle of the night concerned and looked up this number - You persuaded me to cancel my credit card and I have escaped being a victim of this scam. I was alerted by the fact that the number was not a Bradford Number and yet all the places they sent me on the internet seemed so genuine. Thanks everyone.

P.S. Has anyone persued this matter with the police - how do we progress when things like this happen - can they be caught stopped?

Redress Claims customers who never saw their cash

Customers who paid Redress Claims to get PPI money find they are out of pocket

    Anna Tims

The Observer, Sunday 3 February 2013

    The letters are depressingly similar:

London RT of London was cold called by a company called Redress Claims which promised to reclaim mis-sold payment protection insurance for her on a no-win no-fee basis. "I paid £450 for them to look into potential claims on each credit card and was told I'd get the money back if the claim was unsuccessful. I've never received any claim money, or a refund."

AB of Humberside paid Redress Claims £1,700 in 2011 after being cold called. "We trusted them, as we are desperate financially. They did obtain £958 for mis-sold PPI on a mortgage for which they charged an additional fee of £287. And £1,419, £608 of which they pocketed despite the promise in their terms and conditions that they would deduct no more than 25%."

SG from Coventry found that £3,855 had been removed from her credit card after a cold caller from Redress Claims gave her a hard-sell in April 2011. "I never received any bill or acknowledgement of this payment and they've since demanded further payments," she says.

PR of Southport, Merseyside paid a similar upfront fee which he was told was refundable if his six claims were unsuccessful. One claim was won but he was told to pay an extra £149 per claim to a company called Credit Clear Services to have the outstanding five resolved.

R E-H found £3,245 removed from his account, £590 of it for invalid claims. "I made more than 20 attempts to get the £590 back but none of my messages was replied to. They managed to get me £120 back from one credit card issuer and £32 on another and charged me £100 fee for each. Now I've had a letter from Credit Clear Services telling me my contract has passed to them and I must pay £99 for them to proceed."

After a long overdue investigation by the Ministry of Justice, Redress Claims's licence to trade was suspended last month due to breaches of the code of conduct. "We will take further action if breaches are not corrected," says an MoJ spokesman.

Given that a suspension can be lifted after three months if a company gets its act together, and given that Redress Claims will have made a consoling profit in the 18 months it has been allowed to operate, this is unlikely to pain its director, Naman Hussain.

Suspension does not stop companies dealing with refund requests from customers whose cases are pending, and the MoJ recommends they write asking for one.

Simon Helliwell, director of Credit Clear Services, which provided "auditing and legal services" for the company, declares that Hussain will be pursuing "other interests" and would not seek to reinstate the licence when the three months is up.

"We've agreed to take the thousands of unresolved Redress Claims' cases off them for no extra charge and will proceed on a no-win no-fee basis," says Helliwell, who insisted that "in comparison with many in the market Redress Claims was not that bad".

He was vague, however, about what percentage of any claim would be deducted in fees. "We'll abide by Redress Claims's terms and conditions," he says and admitted he didn't know what percentage these specified.

As compensation claims for mis-sold PPI can be made for free with a form provided by the Financial Ombudsman Service http://www.fsa.gov.uk/consumerinformation/pro ... /claim-back-ppi , anyone who paid Redress Claims by credit card should consider applying for a refund from their card issuer, which is held jointly liable under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Some debit card companies also offer chargeback if a company is in breach of contract.

Sadly, though, many are likely to be left out of pocket and will have learnt NEVER to hand bank details to a company that COLD CALLS.
