Said that it was a ales call and that someone may or may not call me back press 9 to stop calls I am on the TPS

got this call as above **on my voice-mail**  LOL if the thing cannot recognize 'please leave a message' it is definitely very DUMB!!!

to stop these idiots , put 'call barring phone' into Google or other search.. :)

there are some nice DECT phones that look nice, that can be set to *not* ring if the number is not in the phone book - It WILL go to voice-mail, so you will not miss an important call!! :)

If you 'bar'  a number it will give a 'busy' tone to the caller..

TPS is as useful as a wet paper bag... it take a month to register, by then the number has changed!!

Just to add my ha'peth, I got a recorded message from this number today saying something very URGENT to do with my pension. I really didn't listen to it, didn't press any buttons, and let it finish and go to a constant tone. I think recorded message junk calls should be illegal.

I now make a note of all junk phone calls so that I can report them to the ICO if they become intrusive.

Pension scam of some sort. Scattergun as they don't really seem to know people's ages. Possibly also a premium rate keypad scam.

My partner was called by them today. A recorded message was followed by a woman who rudely hung up when she was told my partner is 60. Have reported them to TPS and will have the ref's whistle ready for next time.

Just received a recorded message by well spoken woman, about pensions, £1,000, pressing buttons 5 or 9 etc.  Hung up without pressing any buttons.  Obviously some scam as no legitimate outfit would approach in this manner.  Looked in whocallsme.com, confirms my suspicions of a scam.  Hope weight of reporting calls helps to stop them.

Called by this number this morning. Reported to TPS. Very rude lady who hung up after I told her I was not under 60. Maybe should have told her I was and strung her along.  Next time they call I have a whistle by the phone for such callers.

Got a call from this number to-day promising £1000 as I am a pensioner   I did not reply

Recorded 'urgent' message. Just hung up. Nobody to swear at. Will report number to ICO as others have done. If enough do the same, something might happen, but don't hold your breath.

Just had the same experience as all of the above.  Have put in a complaint on the ICO website.

The trouble is they are getting wise to this and keep changing their 0161 number. Today I have had a call from 01618261211 re PP. From now on any call from a 0161 number just won't get answered.

Called twice today from this number. Recorded message saying because I am under 60 (I'm not!) I am entitled to £1000 because of private pension. Then says to press 5 to proceed or 9 to be deleted. I did neither and ended he call.  I am registered with TPS which seems to be a waste of time. I was worried it was Mother of 97 in difficulty. These people should be prosecuted. Beware of pressing any numbers as under some scams one can be connected to very expensive premium rate numbers.

All this crap has been said before, until bt are forced into doing something we all know nothing will get done! get onto your local council and your m.p.

It is nothing to do with BT, TPS, or the local council.  Prerecorded calls should be reported to the Information Commissioner's Office.  They are the people who deal with pre recorded calls and texts.  You don't need the caller's name to make a complaint n the ICO website, just the number.  The ICO recently fined two men £440,000 for setting up a pre-recorded call operation, so they are trying.  The only trouble is people just hang up on these calls and moan on here, so the ICO doesn't know aabout them.

Just received a bonus pension scam call from 01618263251

Received a call from this number at 15.27. An automated call claiming to be regarding a bonus pension payment. I did not listen to the rest of the call and hung up. I advise anybody else to do the same. I will be reporting this to the TPS as my number is subscribed

I've had this number call a few times now - I even pressed 5 so that I could speak to someone and get them to stop calling, but it was just re-directed to a call centre - but I still asked not to be called again.

If the call is automated (recored voice at the other end) then please take a couple of minutes to fill the number with this website: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/marketing/31.aspx  .TPS only covers live call but this site colllects info on automated ones. As a previous person here said, if enough of us take the time to report it then something might be done. I was encouraged by a Scottish Sunday newspaper's campaign (The Sunday Post) to have these [***] fined - they will be stamped out eventually.
