Got another call from 01618263251 just now.  Same patter as others report.  

I disagree with those who urge you to hang up immediately.  That just improves the efficiency of their technique.  Instead, go ahead and press 5, then leave your phone next to the TV or radio.  It's their call and their time you're wasting now.  They'll cross you off their list soon enough once you give them a dose of their own.

Exactly same message received from female with Welsh accent.  I hate these scammers and hope their ears fall off and their tongues dry up like a twigs.

I too keep receiving a recorded phone message from;
01618263251.  Voice rambles on Saying' This is an URGENT MESSAGE regards your Pension'  Then tells me to press 5.  I ignore such and it hangs-up.  Yet again I wonder if ...IF, BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS know about such and if so, what are they doing to stop such a Dodgy ,regular Phone Call..... As they have said for past 4 years, 'We are looking into such calls'.  What a wonderful world,,,,,so much for New Technology.

There are a very similar number of reports for both numbers.
And calls from both numbers seem to be about pension claims.

Yes, I quite agree.  We have an elderly relative in this area, and it is worrying when you get a similar  
number calling.  We have had several different numbers ftrom this area, so now we have our family names and numbers listed in the phone and do not answer any others.  If it is important they should leave a message anyway.  Nothing but phone pests!!

These people are a real nuisance. Mention is being made of reporting them to the FSA as well as the ICO but more to the point, they introduce themselves as "The Pensions Helpline" I have tried to keep them on the line to discuss their bona fides as being part of the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) but they hang up quick-smart. The DWP need to close these people down but, like all the other commenters, officialdom creates these government offices for the protection of the public, at great cost to the public, but then they do not actually protect the public - and nothing is done. So what is the point of officialdom? Lets save money, close down useless 'officialdom' and ignore all these calls. That's simple but the state of the hospitals is part of the same malaise - and nothing is done; no one is prosecuted and megabucks salaries continue to roll their way. And parliament wonders why MP's are rated little higher than child molesters. Ho-hum back to the coal face.

Called at 11.15 - same recorded message to "Press 5" ( Don't !! ) as from 01519091965 and 01216672481
who called at 1723 and 1151 respectively.
It appears they have learned how to get around a Call-Blocker by changing their Caller ID each call. Tough luck - they can only use a number once and get past !

Make a point of NOT speaking when you lift the receiver - the line then usually goes dead.

How's about adding another category to the "Call Type" below   "CRIMINAL"   ???

I have a call blocker & same as Dave above says - same numbers used as above on previous occasions and more (eg 01618 263541) - put that on the bar list aswell as the ones above & this one !

They use many numbers starting with the Manchester code 0161 and the only way to get shot of them is to block the area code if your blocker does area code blocking.

I have blocked all numbers starting 0161, 0151, 08 and 0700 and its very rear for anyone to get through now but it can be a pain because like in my instances I have someone with an 0151 number that may ring, be it once in full blue moon, so in this case I will release the number in a few weeks time when the scum have given up.

I have had loads of calls off this number. As it is a recorded message unfortunately TPS can't do anything even though I am registered with them. They forward you on to ICO to make a complaint. Please take 3 minutes to log the call with ico.gov.uk. If we all do it, it might make some difference. This is obviously some sleazy chancer trying to make a quick buck by conning the public. Do your bit to ruin it for them.

Just had a call from this number 01618 263251 and it wasted my time, a part of my life was stopped and why?  Because someone wants to be a greedy so and so at the expense of others.  Shameful!

2nd phone call in two weeks - automated call re pension.

Something about qualifying for a pension bonus of £1000. Answering machine cut in so following is verbatim: "Please press 5 now to clarify your bonus and begin the process. If we've already processed your payment, please press 9 to unsubscribe. This message is urgent and will be dealt with immediately. Please press 5 now."
I have reported this to the Information Commissioner's Office.

It's very straightforward to fill in so I would encourage everyone d to report these calls as it's the only hope of getting something done about them!

Received a call about a pension refund of £1000 which was URGENT apparently - when I was put through to their call centre I spoke to GEMMA and I asked her which company she was calling from she said

I politely asked her what she knew about my pension and she immediately SLAMMED THE PHONE down on me

Where do these people get my number from ? I am plagued with various calls from idiots telling me that I am owed money from P.P.I or from a pension fund or , as in this case, I can save money through Energy saving . You ask for information of their whereabouts or manager and they hang up ! You press 9 to be removed from their data base and that just encourages more calls. Why can't the Ofcom or government do anything about these nuisance calls, after all they seem to have nothing else to do except to snipe at each other !

Silent call - I didnt answer as I have caller id and didnt recognise the number - went to answerphone .. but silence!!

Claimed to be a pension helpline, caller said he was in Manchester but wouldn't give a postcode or contact number.

I tried calling back and spoke to someone who said they were from an online battery retailer "bash up 321" or something.

They said they had a call from BT just this morning to say someone has been spoofing their caller ID.

called me - recorded message inviting me to press 5 or 9.  I didn't.
Said they want to help with a claim.
