You can sue the directors to get your money back.has been done recently.any help let me know.

SJ Associates did nothing to reduce our rates, they are nothing but a scam to dupe people out of their hard earned cash. normally i dont entertain telesales but after a few calls and their promise that there are no upfront fees i agreed for them to send an expert round. when the guy came introduced himself as an ex valuation officer and told me "straight" you are paying way to much and reducing your rates will be a walk in the park and it will take no longer than 3-4 months and it will be backdated. for the idiot that i am i believed them and paid £800 for the application and the admin fees, after waiting for few months i started calling them up to find out whether there has been any progress and i was always met by their incompetent staff and quite rude, they have not kept me up to date with the case as promised, i had to call them to find out anything then, after a year of the appeal i found out that we have a tribunal date for the business rates, and i was delighted that i will be able to present my case, and started getting ready all the evidence and collecting information to help my case (as the did not do or ask me anything that may help my case). 2 weeks before the tribunal date i get a letter saying that my appeal has been withdrawn and that the valuation was correct all along, they did all this without even calling or consulting with me before deciding to withdraw the appeal.
SJ Associates you are nothing but a bunch of conmen and i will be contacting trading standards and BBC Watchdog and i would urge everyone of you who have been tricked out of your money to contact BBC WATCHDOG so we can show them up for what they are

well if you paid on a credit card then put a charge back on the card under the terms that the said rate reduction service you paid for could not possible be delivered..it works.

also chech the V.O.A webb site to see if they actually did put an application in if not its fraud

you can put a rate reduction in your self and its FREE  make sure you read the 12 terms of conditions as to how it will be successful.

I have also had problems with S J Associates. They initially promised there would be no payment upfront until we knew what we would get back  . Tricked into agreeing in Oct 2013. Rang to cancel 2 days later - they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee of nearly£400 + vat . I refused . I had several  conversations with them over the following couple of weeks , then nothing !! Yesterday Aug 20th 2014  I received a letter saying that if I dont pay the cancellation fee I will be taken to court. They give me the option of making contact and as a gesture of good will they are prepared to reduce the invoice amount !!!!???? Rip off merchants

I promise you they will not take you to court.of course they are scammers like a number of other firms in the Manchester area.i have already been to the newspapers with a list of every appeal they have submitted on the 2010 rating list.it makes very interesting reading.a pal of mine has just had his fee refunded by taking them to the small claims court.however you must sue the directors namely a nadine worden not the company itself.

We are having exactly the same issue ourselves.  Have not paid them but they are threatening Legal action.

Let me try to be more explicit to all who are being threatened with legal action.the vast majority of their appeals have no substance.there were never any grounds for their appeals to succeed.they promise you something verbally ie the council owe you thousands of pounds but this is not backed up by their contract.if any of those with complaints please give me your postcode of your premises so that I can go to two highly respected newspapers.they have made millions out of scamming and a stop has to be made.

I have just been reading some of your messages and I feel exactly this same as SJ Asso have done the same to us.  Unfortunately we did pay and nothing was done so I am in the process of contacting trading standards.  I also feel we should get in touch with our local government representatives as we are being ripped off with Business rates  and they need to address this and reduce our astronomical rate bills and at the same time naming and shaming these pests at Parragon House.  It doesn't look like TS have done anything as these messages go back 3/4 years and the company is still ripping people off.

Trading standards are a waste of time.as I have explained sue the directors not the company through the small claims courts.this has been done recently and guess what they paid up.people have been complaining for years about these firms but tend to do nothing.words will get you nowhere but action will.

Simple the company could fold but the directors will not want a county court judgement against there names.which part of the country are you based.

Yes do not pay them.on what basis do they promise you thousands refund.i bet their contract does not back this up.read the contract and inform us whether it states you will be guaranteed a refund.it will not.i am thinking of arranging a meeting for everybody with complaints.they were recently sued through the small claims court  and the upfront payment was refunded.i know sj read this website and have tried to get it closed down but every message  I place is a fact.i do not know where you are based but contact the vo yourself.their success rate is appalling.anybody who would a like a copy of every appeal submitted since 2010 by this firm I would be happy to disclose it.

I have had an initial meeting with the yorkshire evening post about people who have been let down by a number of these firms.i am collating a list of people who are prepared to come forward.if you give me the post code of your premises I can then contact you.

got a call from this company but now also ringin on 0161 872 7145 claiming they are phoning about a rebate on the property, nothing but a scam who then try charge you - avoid

If you give me your postcode I will tell you if there is any chance of getting a reduction.as I keep reiterating we have already sued this company and got the money back for taking an up front payment on spurious grounds.if you want help I will help.

You keep saying you have evidence - where is it?......We know who you are and we know your working from Stoke and all your doing is gathering peoples information and your going to offer them a no win no fee!...........

Come on people this is just somenoe working for another company trying to get you to hate other Business Rates companies........If she knows so much about it, how did she come across this site????? yes she puts appeals in on a no win no fee service, shes worked for rates companies so therefore played a good part in ripping people off (so she says).......
