Just had a call from this number .Something to do with pensions and a refund as I am under 60....wish I was...and to press 5, which naturally I did not!

Called today - recorded message as below - I hung up

Received a call from this number, a woman (pre recorded) telling me that being over 60 a £1000 is due to me and I was told to press 5 for more information.
This is obviously a con and possibly aimed at the elderly. Why can't this be stopped?

The Pensions Helpline Ltd is registered 83 Mesnes Road,Wigan. The listed sole director is Kenneth Reason.

Kenneth Reason is also a director of The Mortgage Helpline Ltd reg 03481191, Reason Empire Holdings Ltd reg 05362392 and Morgan H Lewis reg 04563818. Helen Fairhurst is the company secretary of these 3 companies.

Morgan H Lewis trades from a different address to the registration address; they are, among other things, estate agents. Their telephone number is 01942 824 482, fax 01942 615 827, web www.morganhlewis.com. Reason is well protected and very difficult to get through to.

K Reason's address is thought to be Tyrers Barn, Wood Lane, Lathom, Ormskirk, L40 4BW.

Yep same as everyone else when I tried to call back to identify the phone goes to a ring tone and then to a second number like you are being re-directed to another phone that is engaged.  
put phone down and will not answer again.  
Boy the pain it causes me to get up and answer the phone even!!!!!!
how do we stop this??????

Feel it is very dangerous to older people and vlunderable people as it offered me £100.00 if I pressed the numbers.

Don't be duped by this one just because it is a lady that you can understand for once!

I received a call on my home number from 01619610056 at 12.25 pm today. (28/11/2012)
A recorded message stated that it was "urgent" and informed me I was due £1000 pensions refund as I'm '60 or under'.. It went on to tell me to press 5 for an instant connection to an operator or 9 to unsubscribe.
There was no mention of a company name or information as to why I was due this refund. Like some of the others have mentioned, I am also registered with the Telephone Preference Service and should not be receiving these calls.
I suspect that pressing any digit to either connect or "unsubscribe" (who the hell subscribed my number in the first place?) would result in a premium rate call to the benefit of the scammer.

The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system.

So it looks like the agency that should be taking an interest has been cut back so that it can't be any actual use.  Maybe the company owner is a party contributor?

Received the call at 11:36am yesterday. Pre-recorded message about £1000 entitlement if over 60 bla,,bla bla and to press 5 for more info and 9 for assistance. I hung up just before message ended. Checked calling number via 1471, and just for curiosity sake...I phoned that number!!! Did the same throughout yesterday and today...guess what?...constantly engaged!!!! They tried me in the past but somehow their recorded message did not activate and I hung up after 20 secs silence. PHISHING SCAM in my opinion. Like previous correspondents, our phone is ex-directory and managed somehow to access it??? HOW DO WE GET RID OF THIS DAMN NUISANCE?

Same pattern as others have reported.  The recorded message said I was on their database and being under 60 (I'm  not) I would qualify for £1000 payout if claimed soon.  I was invited to press 5 or 9 to claim or not claim.  I did neither but hung up.   I wonder if pressing 5 or 9 gets you onto a premiun rate line somehow.

Same as other people, just hang up. Why can they not be stopped ?

This was a recorded call about pensions and getting £1000.00. Asking you to press 5 if you had not received anything. Could be very worrying for older people, and could be a scam.

Got a recordeinge saying it was an Urgent Message concerning my pension.
This in spite of the fact we're registered with the telephone preference service.

Did not answer as lots if cold callers this week while off work,thought I would check it out as unknown number,glad I didn't answer it.presume its a scam.

This number phoned me at home and a recorded message told me that I was eligable for £1,000.00 cash back and to press 5. An offer of free cash always makes me suspicious so I wrote down the phone number and checked it out on the internet.
Hope this post helps others to avoid cash scams.
