DON'T USE DOTCOM CHROME - IT WILL COST YOU!

I urge you NOT to use dotcom chrome.  I stupidly fell for their sales pitch - they are convincing and sound like very nice, professional people.  I agreed to do it for 1 month and specifically stated that I did NOT want it to roll over to a second month without my express authorisation.  When I was put through to their "Compliance Department", I stated the same.

Month 1 (September 2009) came and went.  They did as the said they would - my website was on page 1 of Google.  However, at the end of month 1, they did not provide me with the report showing results that they had promised.  They also did not seek my approval to "roll over" to subsequent months.

In October, they took another amount out of my account, by the debit card provided by me.  Then again in November and December.  I queried it as I had not authorised it and my website had not been on page 1 of Google for any of that time.  I insisted on voice recordings of the conversations I had had with them to be sent to me.  I got a curt email back saying "You must have us confused with another company you have used"!!!!

I have now received a bank statement (March 2010) to show they have taken 2 further amounts from my card this month.  And yes - you've guessed it - my website is not on page 1 of Google.

I have now instructed my bank to recover this sum, which they are dealing with.  I urge you not to touch them at all - just hang up once they say who they are.

Send them a cancellation letter via registered post and via email, keep record of everything then cancel your credit card that they are taking the money from otherwise they will take further payments regardless. They will say that they haven't received your request to cancel and try to take further payments from your card and then threaten you with legal action but just don't reply to any of their threats, you only get into pointless time wasting arguments.

You should also be able to reclaim payments made from your credit card company who will then claim back from dot com chrome so you should contact the card company and find out how this works.

And report to Trading Standards asap as they are building a case against them

    Good luck :)

How did it all end up?  Your story is very similar to ours except we cancelled within a couple of hours of getting the "welcome pack".  We sent the email to the address that sent the pack and received a response to the effect "I am but a humble techie and cannot deal with your request".  Since he was the person sending the contract, after all, that is what the "welcome pack is", there is no doubt in Law that the cancellation has been properly served.  Also note that the contract quite clearly allows for all forms of communication, including emails.  However, each month they stole money from our credit card.  Each month I disputed it with my card company.  Each month the card company returned the money, and each month I received ridiculous threats from Dotcon (deliberate spelling mistake) to which I responded pointing out that the contract was cancelled and what they are doing is criminal theft.  I have now cancelled the card and after an amusing conversation with one of their idiot employees (or maybe owner?) I am waiting to receive a call from a local debt collection company.  To be honest, I am now at the stage when I am deriving pleasure from teasing the idiots.  (I even sent them the contact details of three debt collection companies in my area "to assist them" as a response to their latest bunch of threats.)  I know it's cruel but that seems to be the game they're playing.  I'll miss them when they finally crawl back under their slimy rock.  I hope your saga ended OK.

I have the unfortunate misfortune of dealing with dotcomchrome, what a bunch of thieving swine. My adwords cost me 250 plus vat sterling. I never saw my ad comming up in a google search, and when I enquired about it I never got a reply. Then they contacted me to get more money I said I never saw my ad and would not be using them. Further money was taken out of my account on three occasions. They are aggressive over the phone and should be closed down

I have recently had a similar experience with dotcomchrome.  I understood the first month was a trial basis.  However, when I received Bank Statments I discovered that they had been taking money on a monthly basis.  Again, I could never find my page on Google.  Customer Service is a disgrace.  Once I sent my letter of cancellation, they plaged my business with phonecalls from a blocked number demanding money and rude emails threatening debt collection.  I have requested technical reports and copies of accounts etc but to date have not received any support.  At the moment I await hearing from them.  I refuse to let the matter settle in their favour. I urge people not to deal with dotcomchrome.

I'm in total agreement with your warning to stay away from Dotcom Chrome. We are in the process of reporting them to the authorities. I've been putting together a list of complaints found on the web and they go on and on and on. So many people with similar sad stories of being ripped off and lied to. It's hard to believe they haven't been shut down by now.  The only way to stop them STEALING money from your account is to cancel your credit card and report all evidence to your bank, who should reimburse you. If in fact they are not a registered company in Australia then it is an actual scam and should be reported.

Funny how any 'positive' comments always display the same uneducated style of writing including hopeless spelling and bad grammar.

I haven't be duped by them, but not for want of effort. I would guess I've received 100 calls from them over the past couple of years, always offering the same package, though sometimes using slight variations on their business name.

The sales staff are aggressive, and use the "you shouldn't be in business" line when it becomes obvious to them that you wont be buying their 'service'. Worse still, they lie and lie and lie. The most common lie is "this has only just come available" - they use this one nearly everytime, and will elaborate with some [***] explination about its previous unavailability, even though the same person tried to sell you the same thing a week ago. If you know anything about the internet, have some fun with them letting them get tangled up in their web of nonsense. If you don't, just hang up - they won't take no for an answer.

The most amusing aspect of their shameful campaign is their is the way they troll sites such as thins one producing obviously manufactured responses praising their amazing service. Take a look at http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews240325.html for some examples. I would be surprised if ANY of the comments that weren't 100% negative were genuine.

The police are actively investigating the activities of dot com chrome and the director Jamie McDougall. Anyone with any information about any threatening or abusive telephone calls or emails received from this company should contact PC 6755 Pat Murphy or PC 6274 Andy Jordan, both of the Sale Neighbourhood Policing Team, telephone number 0161 856 7865.

You can also report any such incidents as a crime to your local police force who will pass the details on to Greater Manchester Police, or directly to Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050.

There are several existing cases so you are not alone in your misfortune at having come across this company and Jamie.

You might want to think of that with all the credit card cancellations against your company, Dotcom Chrome.  I know all of the amounts stolen by Dotcom Chrome were quite properly refunded by my credit card company.
