01709764400

A female rang at 1320hrs today from 01709 764400 saying she was from BT and asking if she could complete a survey.  However, it was a bad line (her end - my other calls today have been OK) and when I said this she rang off.

I had a call from 01709764400 today.  I could hardly understand the person as their English was poor.  They did not ask for the account holder and just rattled on.  He said he was ringing on behalf of BT and it was about broadband.  How NI broadband is improving and that he would send an engineer out to my house.  I told him not to bother.  He wanted to know why.  I said that I wasn't interested.  He then hung up.

Oh dear - doesn't sound good to me - better check with BT that you have not been transferred to another service provider - keep your credit card in your pocket!

Stop making unsolicited calls - you are not calling on behalf of BT.

In my experience BT always uses an 0800 number for customer enquiries and never an 01709 or 03 number. If you are on the TPS scheme BT will not call you - they will not share numbers and most importantly - if this was a decent company they would abide by the rules of TPS and not call you.

What a load of annoying (******) at that call centre - They have been spamming my phone and not answering when picked up.
When I do catch them (01709764400) and ask them to stop calling, they immediately call back - obviously they think its funny to put me back in the que for calling.

I don't know how they sleep at night, knowing they just spent the whole day annoying people.

has a missed call from this number yesterday evening, 3rd time in many weeks. left no message. getting fedup with their phone calls from different companys.

its hero tsc telemarketing firm working in partner with bt. checked bt website and they are a legal partner of bt

its hero tsc calling on behalf of bt to tell people about bt offers. tps does not stop cold calling and i have found out that to stop cold calling a landline with bt is required and put on 'bt privacy at home' i have done this and it does work!! if they ring ask them about it!!!

All the posts claiming this is a caller on behalf of bt- this number had been calling me all week whilst I have been at work, they called today and i answered- they told me they were bt and said that they had noticed that my address had once used bt many years ago ( I am guessing the aim of this was to then ask if I would like bt again) this was immediately an epic fail from this annoying caller as the current land line I own has only existed for one year and 3 months- reason being my house and address has Only existed for 1 year and 3 months. A new build built on what previously stood many miles of farmer/crop fields for years. I would like to know how a bt line once existed amongst miles of crops!? Epic fail and immediately brought to my attention this caller is a not legit!

I've had two calls - one sounded like a party in the background - and they hung up soon as I answered.

I've been getting calls from this number 2 times a day and late in the afternoon. During my investigation of this issue, over the past 3 days, I was advised to sign up to Tps online etc, by my service provider, but having seen this web page, it‘s pretty clear, that being ex-directory or on Tps, makes no difference as to whether you will receive calls from the 01709764400-phone number; Which made it pretty clear to me, early on, that they were probably not from a legitimate BT company.

When you phone back the 01709764400 number, you get through to a voice mail message. The voicemail message, gives you a legitimate BT number (0800 0282272) and a legitimate BT affiliated company website address (www.bt.com/partners), which makes them look legit, when they are not!!!

Its basically just a voice mail, with legitimate information thrown in, but the source from where the voicemail is coming from, can’t be verified, anywhere! And although the The Hero Tsc firm does work in partnership with BT, I can’t find the 01709764400 anywhere on their websites!

The number 01709764400 does not seem legitimate, because I checked with “BT Billing services department” and they told me that the number is not on their system, or from a BT company. After further discussions with the BT employee, he told me that they would now be investigating the 01709764400-phone number.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and it’s taken me 4 days, of harassing phone calls and investigation, to try and figure this all out.

I’m just posting this here, to give people some kind of heads up, on the situation.

Had three calls from this number in 2 days but trueCall took care of them. They left no message.

you cant call the number back because it is an auto dialler number not a landline number - i work for a company which outsources work to another call centre but i wouldnt know their dialler number either so wouldnt expect your friend to know this one, but the name of the company, i believe tsc, is mentioned several times on here and im pretty sure if your friend works for BT, esp if in a call centre - they should know who tsc are

This is a legitimate call from an outsourcing call centre handling calls on behalf of BT (which as previous post explain anyone that has used BT agrees to). You have checked out TSC as a company, and if you have done this you will see that their Rotherham call centre is 01709..... this number is a dialler number - which is a system used by most outbound companies, therefore would not be shown on their website as it is not a number that can be called to speak to someone so why would they advertise it.

I work for a company that outsources via a diff outsourcing company and and they have a similar set up only they dial with an 08 number which means people who call back are charged the higher rate - the fact these are using a landline is a good thing - and BT wouldnt have a record of this number because its tsc dialler number and nothing to do with BTs numbers.

As someone who works in this industry it really angers me when people who have no idea what working in a call centre involves post comments like 'its a scam' without knowing this for fact as people who would actually be interested in the products then dont answer the calls because they dont believe them to be legit.....also comments I have seen for my employers number saying to scream down the phone or make a loud noise and hurt their ears - yes very nice thing to do to another person who is just doing their job - I actually like my job, but even for those who dont at least we are working full time hours and paying tax etc rather than sitting on JSA.

So in response to your 'giving people a heads up' it is incorrect, i have checked this information out based on the fact the call centre is not far from me and can 100% guarantee it to be legitimate - my reason for posting on here - I also had the same call and am very happy with what i was offered (didnt take as in contract with someone else) and as I am a decent person who doesnt believe in trying to make life hard work for others or verbally abuse others over the phone, i found the call to be rather pleasant.

It may well be legitimate number, but “customers service and billing department” told me they were investigating the number, because it wasn’t on their system. So I’m just going off the information I was given over the phone.

I don’t really care who they are to be honest, they have no right to make harassing calls twice a day, to my landline number. And if you had read through most of what is written on this entire thread, you would see, that there are tons of people on here, who are ex-directory, and signed up to TPS Online, like myself, who are still receiving calls from this number, which is breaking the TPS rules.

But the voice mail message on the 01709764400-phone number, gives you the legitimate (0800 0282272) BT number; which the voicemail then recommends you can call, in order to have further calls stopped.

You see, what stated above, encapsulates the entire problem i.e. “BT wouldnt have a record of this number because its tsc dialler number and nothing to do with BTs numbers.” Because what’s the point of TCS, giving a BT number, to phone up, to stop calls, if BT aren’t even aware of the 01709764400 phone number??? Think about it!!!

It means BT can’t stop the calls at all, which is the problem I’m experiencing right now. So essentially, the TSC company are being deliberately deceptive!

I never said it was a scam, I only posted the information that I was told by a BT employee; but the point is they are breaking all the protocols of contacting people, especially when their already signed up too TPS online, or ex-directory etc.

Like I said above, when I made my first post here, I was just going off the information, I was given. Yesterday BT told me they would contact me within 24 hrs, to inform me, whether the number is legitimate, or not, which so far, remains a mystery.

The thing is, all your post is concerned about, is whether it’s a legitimate company or not. You haven’t even given any prior thought, to what I have written and pointed out above, or thought about it, from the perspective of someone receiving harassing calls, to a landline, that is  (A) ex-directory, (B) on TPS), (C) not even with BT! But with another service provider

Anyway, I don’t think it’s fair (legitimate or not), that people should be repeatedly phoned up, especially when I have phoned BT, and already asked them 4 times! not be to phoned by that number And I’m still receiving calls from them! And if you think about what I said above, if BT isn’t aware of the TSC number on their system, then there’s no way for them, to stop the calls, which is completely ridiculous. And is the entire point, of why I’m having the number investigated.
