The public spat between Russell & Sasha is all just a big front. I would bet anyone that they'll be winching each other by Christmas.

    don't waste your money

I spent £3900 in November 2009 and this last year have had to start wearing glasses again, since finding out the lifetime aftercare included in the price is no longer valid, as they were taken over. But have no shame by still trading as ultralase. The lifetime guarantee was a major influence when choosing this company at the time for my eye treatment, so what's stopping them doing it again in the future.

Nothing. If you think for a while, why would you expect private companies with no government gurantees to trade happily forever and be accountable for their actions in case they go bust. Where there is greed there is no shame. And the greed is immense.

Teetering on the brink of depression for months, but managing to fight it off, I finally crashed a few weeks ago and have been struggling to cope since.

Many of you similarly suffer with depression beyond tablets thanks to the debilitating results of refractive eye surgery, so I don’t need to explain what I’ve been going through. This time my depression was apparently mainly due to exhaustion, and I’ve been warned that I need to take some time off, which I intend to do before the end of the year.

I’ve been absolutely crippled and barely able to function, but I didn’t want to publicise this with my trial v Russell Ambrose/Optimax Unltd on the horizon; any sign of weakness and he’d have taken advantage of it.

Russell backed down btw and agreed to settle - on my terms!

    Bullies don’t always win :-p

The antidepressants are now starting to kick in and I hope to be back to normal very soon.

To those who were aware of what I’ve been going through, I thank you all for your kind messages.

To anyone suffering with depression I advise that you seek help from your GP asap. Depression is a big black hole that I believe is almost impossible to climb out of without help!

Meanwhile, I have lots of news and will share as soon as I can…

Optimax Employment Tribunials for staff that got shafted after the Optimax/Ultralase consolidation. Got a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of these.

Time to get out now while you still can.

Having read the comments above regarding Russell Ambrose settling in favour of Sasha and bowing down to her settlement compensation demands, I ponder whether it's possible that this 'depression' is in fact a cover story to camouflage that he has ordered her to sign one of these now infamous 'Optimax failed laser eye surgery claimants gagging orders' and can no longer speak of her case due to legal repercussions. I must stress that this is merely speculation of course.

Another aspect of this case that I admit does tickle my curiosity, is that the claimant has no regular job but makes money allegedly through accident lawyer referral fees and the above mentioned £500 per month advertising deal on www.mybeautifuleyes.co.uk

If the claimant is earning money in this way, is it being declared to HMRC and assuming they are claiming benefits such as incapacity benefits (employment support allowance) due to ill health, have they declared this additional income to DWP officials?

This is not a mere speculation. This is obvious although this will change nothing. The fate is oblivious to settlments.

The my beautiful eyes website and campaign is nothing but a ruse orchestrated to harvest the details of individuals to then pass onto claims lawyers for a fee.

The BBC need to investigate this via Panarama or Rogue Traders, or Dispatches or any other credible journalist. It is potentially corporate fraud in my opinion.

John McDonnell must be held accountable for this, the House of Commons must move to initiate an impeachment immediately, it is wrong on every level and if found guilty it is clear he is abusing his position in power by spearheading this campaign.

In England your details will be sold onto Jenny Kennedy of Anthony Gold Solicitors.

In Scotland your details will be sold onto Sue Grant of Digby Brown Solicitors.

    Biggest mistake of my life
I hope this thread is still being read as people need to be aware of the possible negatives, not just the positives!

This was posted on the Optimax forum yesterday with 2 posts following - within less than an hour all were removed & my access blocked!

Due to the debilitating & devastating results of my LASEK wavefront 'surgery' last month at Optimax Croydon clinic, performed by wealthy Dr --- (guessing he's paid approx £500 per op, multiplied by 15,000+ patients since 2002) I am now suffering with clinical depression, panic attacks & unable to work.

I'm in my 50s & was short sighted, but with perfect near vision without the need for glasses. I was told laser would correct my distance vision, but was unaware that I would be sacrificing my perfect near vision, at no time explained to me by the optometrist at my initial consultation, nor by Dr Hoe.

I can't focus on anything within a meter!!

Weeks of internet trawling has shown that this treatment should not have been recommended to me in the first place. I have been contacted by doctors via other websites who advise that the outcome of this treatment should have been thoroughly discussed and explained prior to treatment given my age & prescription.

Yesterday I despondently went for my 6 week check up - what's the point in being able to read the bottom line of letters when I can't even see what I'm eating clearly?!

To top it all the optometrist then handed me a bottle of eye drops advising me to use them 4 x per day. I have an allergy to preservatives which could have sent me straight to Moorfields!

I wrote to Russell Ambrose a few weeks ago and am awaiting his response "within 20 working days".

Meanwhile, I am making contact with, and gathering as much information as possible from, other patients who've had their eyes (& lives) ruined by Optimax as I intend to take legal action, and do all I can to publicise the risks of laser surgery via press, TV, & internet.

Please send PM if you would like to contact me with any info or questions. I guarantee to respect your privacy.

Even back then there were idiots about making crass generalisations:

Hi Devastated, I would say from your posts you failed to read or listen to the advice you were given. There would have been no promise of a perfect result and you should have understood that.

Clearly you are out to bad mouth Optimax. I had my surgery with them I was a -5.50 in each eye and I have perfect vision, so does sister, mum and 3 other of my friends who had surgery.

As for researching online about laser eye surgery, well you have to take everything you read with a pinch of salt. It is all user content and anything could be said by anyone and not even be justified. Take the post in the mail, like this one http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...Its-risks.html. I remember when this came out b/c the lady is about my age and i was interested. You cant see it now, but where the comment use to be the lady who the story was about retracted her statement and said it was the writter of the story who had wrote a completely faulse story and she also had said these were pre-exsisting issues. Much like your depression I dont doubt Devastated

All risks and complications are told to you and there is no promise of a perfect result! Just because you failed to ignore the info, not listen or you are just to stupid to understand. Then that is your problem!

I watched the Watchdog report on Laser eye surgery and all you need to do is listen and understand the advice given to you at the consultation. It is simple ladies! It is an operation, not botox. Treat it like getting a boob job! There are risks and it is YOUR choice if you go a head or not. These laser eye companies are not making you have surgery.

You would have been told about reading glasses after surgery, I saw it several times in there information pack, consent form and even the surgeon told me.

You clearly have a personal issue with them or you are just after money.

No matter who you have laser eye surgery with always look at all the risk and these companies with explain things to you as it is thier duty by law and Optical express, optimax and ultralase are all professional companies

    as Sylvester Stalone would say:

    I'll BE BACK!

    Tick tock ;-)
