What is the world coming too :-( - Seriously naughtyIt looks to me as if "someone" has agreed to sacrifice one scapegoat to make a silent deal. Strangely this is the only name which pops up now and then. Anyone who knows how the things work agree with me. This is like: Oh let's be a little bit naughty but not really naughty. You know what I mean.
- Caller: Naughting Hills
- Call me Molly replies to Michael Mols| 1 replyBut they removed all her warts and moles in the process so she shouldn't be complaining that much. Always look on the bright side of life .. .. .. ..
- Professor Dan Jalinski replies to Call me MollyDon't give them any ideas, that'll be the next scam; mole and wart removal injury compensation.
Listen there is a genuine handful of people who have had a botched operation from either a private or public treatment provider but studies suggest that up to 92.7% of 'complex' cases may potentially be hypercondriacs, or another form of mental illness. - Jimmy B replies to Optilase OptomWhat's your inside knowledge of your competitors and what makes you any better?
- Djalenga Scott replies to Optimax going into administration| 1 replyNow that Russell has put his hand in his pocket and paid off the terrorist MBE group, they will grow in 2016 free from Internet terrorism abuse. It must have taken some bottle and strength to pay their racketeering costs but Russell Ambrose is a top notch businessman and he knows what he's doing. A knighthood in the new year will only help establish Optimax as the credible brand. The other providers, both private and high street that they may be considering blackmailing in this way will not be so lucky unless they too give into the My Beautiful Eyes ransoms. Sometimes you need to take it on the chin and stump up the cash.
- Badhar Multiganinho replies to Djalenga ScottNO!! Never ever give in to terrorists. Win the hearts and minds of your customer and they will identify terrorism for what it is. Bad advice pal.
- Rotta the HuttletWho actually wins in this situation apart from the MBE terrorists as they've been described here?
Whether it's true or not that the consortium of private clinics in Harley Street fund this movement, despite what they may believe, this issue affects Harley Street as much as it affects the nationwide chains as it's the procedure itself that is unfairly critiqued. Why would they fund these paramilitants, pardon the pun, it's nothing other than shortsightedness.- Caller: Laser eye surgery compensation scam
- Scouse-house-mouse replies to BBC rogue traders should investigate| 2 repliesBasically, most eye surgeons (similar to plastic surgeons) get into this industry because they are ruthless and greedy individuals and therefore mostly gravitate towards Harley St where the big bucks can be made.
It's not like the majority of working class northerners in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester or Sheffield who mostly get into medicine to help people.
These London eye surgeons tend to be spoilt rich kids born into money, desperate to outdo their parents generation and earn more money than their parents did.
Take cost as an example. They could easily perform these procedures for 1/10 of the cost but choose not to.
It makes me laugh that people think meeting an eye surgeon before the procedure would help eliminate unsuitable candidates, this is buiishit and ironic because these people are the greediest of the lot, the person who gains most in a 'laser eye surgery sale'
Laser eye surgery fees need to be independently assessed and capped but not by the RCO as they share the same lust for greed (they are eye surgeons too) and not by the NHS (greedy eye surgeons freelance here too) but by an independent government think-tank.
It's important to note that there are some eye surgeons out there who are honest and trustworthy. Even some of the London ones. It is possible some of these can even help join the debate.
A performance league table would be another device that could help identity eye surgeons based on talent but again greedy eye surgeons won't support that as it could lose them money. An independent think-tank should also discuss making this a mandatory requirement, again fed into an independent body where the figures couldn't be fudged. - Solidarity replies to Scouse-house-mouseIndependent government body? There is no such thing at present. In the UK we live in a plutocracy.
Take John McDonnell as an example. This so-called impartial politician is calling for legislation of 'high street' clinics but not private clinics. Furthermore he wants legislation through the Royal College of Ophthalmologists which you've described as a sort of English gentleman's club comprised of eye surgeons themselves and as you quite-rightly point out; hardly an impartial body and certainly incapable of defining rules of an independent code of ethics. lets examine the group's convenor John McDonnell MP in greater detail:
http://www.john-mcdonnell.net/time_to_legisla ... _and_harlington
He consistently attacks 'High Street Brands' in his article but there is a clash of interest here as the My Beautiful Eyes campaign is allegedly partly funded by the Private Sector such as those operating from Harley Street, London and he is their spokesman and government lobbyist in Westminster.
Should it not be the shadow health secretary Heidi Alexander pushing the Labour party's stance on this issue. Do you not find it bizarre that John McDonnell takes lead, especially given his alleged commercial ties with various sponsors such as these private clinic owners, and injury compensation solicitors?
There is much work to be done to eradicate issues such as child poverty in our modern-day plutonomy we live in. Government corruption and manipulation by large corporate entities exist in many areas. This is the true duties we would expect a shadow chancellor of the exchequer to perform.
More importantly, this whole debate illustrates how badly the Westminster politicians have let the people of this country down and allowed the NHS to self-destruct by allowing the evils of privatisation and capitalism to take control of our health service. But this is part of the wider plutocracy Westminster has created and we must stand up in solidarity and unite our brothers and sisters against this tyranny. Only the power of the people can defeat plutonism and if you really want to defeat this issue, you must mobilise your fellow man into taking action; don't trust the government to do it for you. - Reductio ad absurdum| 1 replyThe subject was unwanted phone calls. Have you used up all the debating forums available to you?
- Jamesie Cotter replies to Reductio ad absurdumI've been getting unwanted calls fae yer maw wanting to gies a diddy-ride. I politely declined but she keeps calling.
- Clungefart replies to my beautiful eyes campaignI hate it when you buy someone a Walnut Whip and when they eat it, they remove the walnut from the top. Unbelievable. Frankly, it's just rude.
- Donnamarie1953| 2 repliesDoes anyone have a contact number for Optomax? They are sending me tons of emails that I don't remember signing up about lasered eye surgery discounts and I need to speak to the boss as I'm really unhappy, woken up at 4.30am by emails sent to my mobile. Seriously?

Alternatively don't sign up for junk mail. - William ManningWavefront Ultra Elite - Be Warned!
Not convinced with you get what you pay for with the supposedly "top service". I went for the Wavefront Ultra Elite service costing me around £4k and after 3.5 years I am concerned that i have paid excessive amount of money for what i could have achieved paying half the amount or less.
On the checkup appointments they say you have achieved 20:20 vision.. ok if i stop blink about 10times to re apply the tear film over my eyes and spend 5 - 10 seconds trying to focus as clear as possible then yes. My new vision is not 20:20 as it is not practical to stare at everything you are looking at and blinking excessively to achieve this vision e.g. how do you do this whilst driving?
My brother had the cheapest surgery and comparing my vision to his he states that his is the same as mine and he sees things the same way i do.
My right eye has actually ended up weaker than my left eye and so if below 20:20 vision and so has a minor prescription (not enough to warrant wearing glasses).
I know 3 or 4 other people who have had Laser Eye surgery and have opted for the cheapest option. (one person paying as little as £800 (£400 per eye) after using each company to price wars against themselves and then claim a £500 off voucher on top of the lowered price) again no complaints with the cheaper treatment and 20:20 vision supposedly achieved.- Caller: Ultralase Ultraelite
- John McDonnell Must GoThe blatant lobbyist activity shown by John McDonnell to promote his own commercial activities in this refractive surgery compensation scam is similar to that that had plagued US politics since the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. John McDonnell must leave immediately as he is no better than his Labour predessors or the Tory party. JOHN MCDONNELL MUST RESIGN ASAP
