Report a phone call from 01772557642 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Unbelieveable replies to tats77Recently had some dealings with these people. I owned a pub in partnership which was sold last year, after a number of years battling to keep head above water. The proceeds did not cover the debts and there is a residual amount due to HMRC for Vat. I have not had a permanent address since moving so have not been able to supply a forwarding address.
These people telephoned the pub and spoke to the current proprietor accusing them of owing the debt.Once this was explained they asked the current proprietor to pay the balance and recover it from me. I then telephoned them and tried to explain who I was and what my current circumstances are,it took ages to get them to entertain conversation with me.
What I cant understand is why they chase me for an amount of money which is different (lower) than I believe I owe.
Will keep this thread updated as it develops - Annoyed guythese people here keep harassing me they phoned 2 weeks ago and noted not to ring me again until the 28th as thats when i will know about my money but they've rang 5 times since then is there a way i can report them for harassment?

- DWPthe bottom line is.......... if you owed money and/or they claimed to be an important company needed vital personal or financial details....
THEY WOULD NOT ASK YOU OVER THE PHONE!!
.........so hang up.- Caller: scammers r us™
- Mr T(elepest)| 1 replySome people signing up to DWP new job finding universal scheme are starting to suddenly receive this phone call, which, according to this website, and after a google, belongs to a suspect debt collector, that can also collect debt for HMRC. Interesting. It sounds like your phone number may be sold on after signing up with DWP these days, or their systems aren't very secure. It would seem that this suspect debt collector is a desperate one, that often gets its contact details wrong, or is desperate to get all your details.
It sounds like it's method is to simply harass and scare until enough people decide to pay, and grab all their personal details over the phone. After all, many will actually give out money and personal details over the phone and pay without second thought. Unfortunately not everyone thinks twice (and we're not just talking about vulnerable pensioners), and not everyone decides to investigate claims of owing money before paying either (finding out if they really owe any money to anyone at all or not).
This company sounds like it is verging on scam territory. I say ignore all of their calls. Get yourself a phone that will list the phone number before you pick up, or a phone/phone company that will block certain numbers for you.. and make sure you have signed yourself up to the 'telephone preference service' (google it) to reduce the number of advertising calls. If you owe any money to any company, that company would have contacted you first, not the debt collector, and not by phone either.
Never give personal details over the phone to any company, as unless you phoned first the company and trust them 100% you will never know for sure who they say they are is true. They may claim they are from DWP or your bank and ask for your address. Give nothing out. They are just after your details to keep on a database so they can harass you in future. Hang up. The DWP would not ring you from this number!

and also note that calls from this telepest number are on the increase, and their website is still under construction. it is a very small debt company attempting to make it big by gathering a massive database of public details. streetview from a couple of years back shows that the building was incomplete, so this company (formerly iQor) has shifted to this address:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payinghmrc/debtcollectors/
No debt collection agency would ask you for your name and address before telling you why they are calling, if they ask for name, address or attempt to get you to pay over the phone, hang up as they are likely to be fraudsters pretending to be genuine, using one of the names in the above list. If you are told you have a debt, they will already have your address details! Tell them you want it all by letter, then end the call. Give no information out.
If you eventually receive a letter from the same suspect company on the same debt, first confirm the debt with whoever you originally owed the money to (ie phone HMRC, go in to the bank for an interview etc, do not phone the debt collector). Confirm as to why you owe the debt, and make sure it is correct by looking over your financial history. Banks and HMRC can make mistakes too. If genuine, everything can be paid for in person or online.- Caller: telepest

- whocalledmeagaina user comment from unknownphone website referring to this number:
"They asked my mother to confirm her ni number and date of birth before taking call any further claimed he was acting on behalf of dwp. I think they have bought old debts and trying to enforce them DONT GIVE THEM MONEY THE ACTUAL DEBT IS TOO OLD TO ENFORCE IN COURT THEY ARE CHANCERS x "
I think that sums it all up. These small time debt collectors are trying any method in the not-so-legal book to create a debt, to make the public pay after gathering all your details, regardless as to whether you owe money or not, and you most likely do not owe anything! PS never give your name, address, national insurance or date of birth to scum like this.- Caller: Akinika

- guestThey keep calling me, and I owe nothing to anybody!!!!!!!!!!
Check the posts here, and judge the company based on these reviews on Aninika (formerly Iqor)
Note that some 'reviews' are biased as they are from debt collection staff:-
http://www.net-consumers.org/akinika-debt-recovery-reviews/
Some people are even being chased up constantly by phone for owing ebay as much as £8.
From some posts is very likely they are attempting fraud, or trying to recover very old debts that you legally no longer have to pay (over so many years can put you out of the pay it now zone).
If you are getting calls from them non stop, or are just worried, the best solution is to get an appointment at your nearest citizens advice bureau. Google your town and citizens advice for their helpline, or for your towns nearesr reception number to book an appointment about the harassing calls, or check out:

- Employee| 5 repliesSome of you people really are utter morons aren't you?
We will call you on the contact number which has been provided to us by the client.
We ask for the first line of your address and postcode due to Data Protection as we have to take reasonable steps to ensure that we are not disclosing information to a 3rd Party. If you refuse the DPA Then we are unable to continue with the call, thus the call will be terminated and you will be called back on another occasion.
If you think that you do not owe the outstanding balance then talk to us and tell us why, We put it all into your account notes and pass that information back to our client who will then inform us if collections activity is to continue on this account.
Contrary to popular belief, We work on behalf of a number of clients including some government departments. We are owned by Capita whom in the year 2012-2013 generated a revenue of £3.8Billion pounds. We are not scammers and we DO NOT Buy Debt.
As for how do we live with ourselves and how do we sleep at night ect, Well it is just a job. We clock off at the end of our shift and we really do not give any of you a second thought.
We all try to be polite and well mannered, But if you can not have the common decency to employ some manners yourself then do not be at all surprised if we do become a bit abrupt with you. There really is no need for you to shout or swear or be unpleasant in any way.
To those people complaining about TV Licensing calls, Capita is the main outsourced contractor for TV Licensing. If your TV Licence is in arrears then it is us whom contacts you, If you are buying your TV Licence or have any other TV Licence Queries and you call the TV Licensing number, You are talking to the exact same company.
A Television Licence is a LEGAL Requirement if you have any equipment in your home which is capable of receiving a live television signal. If you can not afford to pay for your TV License, Then get rid of your TV. It really is that simple.
And for those of you telling other people/posters to just offer to pay us £1.00 a week. Think again. We do not have to accept any offer of repayment that you make. We have got to accept any REASONABLE Offer that you make. If after looking over your Income and Expenditure breakdown £1.00 a week is all that you can afford then fair enough. But without justification of such a small repayment we will not accept it and collections activities will continue on your accounts.
You are welcome for my help. :)- Caller: Akinika Debt Recovery

- Nan replies to EmployeeThe first sentence of your post led me to read the whole post and then the other posts on the thread. Was that sentence an example of you "being polite"? Are the people you are harassing who have told you they are not the people you are looking for, morons? As you should be aware there are rules about how many times you can 'phone someone who you think owes you money. Do you obey them? The Data Protection Act specifically does NOT stop you telling the people you 'phone the name and address of your company. Why do you not do that? Giving that information would enable people to check out who you are. You do not have to tell them you are Debt Collectors. Hiding behind the Data Protection is a common practice of dodgy companies. If you are not dodgy then why not give people that information?

- mickey blue replies to Barbara79| 2 repliesNice to know IQor have their own PR person monitoring fora. To re-terate what a previous poster said- OFT are interested in IQOR. They have now changed their name to Akinika- obviously ducking and diving. This company uses harrassment and misinformation. Remember the 6 year rule, and if they are still harrassing, they are behaving illegally.
