- Steve replies to Martyn Smith| 1 replyHello Martyn,
Thanks for your reply. I was actually contacted by one of your sales people on Monday literally 10 minutes after I had left the shop with my new phone, I have not actually agreed to anything yet but considering doing so.
Your sales representative has given me your web address and company details which is where I have stemmed my research on your company from, I am also aware that you guys do not actually insure phones yourselves but pass your customers over to 'Supercover Insurance', which is not a problem
However, before I take up your offer would you kindly assist me by answering a few questions?
I have purchased the 'Blackberry Bold', now phones4u have quoted me £11.99 per month for a fully comprehensive policy, which would cover my phone for loss and theft as well as everything else. Your sales representative said he could give me the same deal for £5.99 per month,
Firstly, Would I be covered for loss?
Also, what is your claims procedure?
Moreover, are you able to give me a discount if I insured two phones with you, if not how much do you charge to insure the I phone 4?
Thanks, Steven Miller - Martyn Smith replies to SteveHi Steve, firstly the Supercover policy we provide covers for the following:

Martyn. - Joe Lewis| 1 replyI recieved a call from this number yesterday. The man on the end of the line first asked for my contract details claiming he was working for a company paired with vodafone. I was reluctent to give my details over the phone, due to my suspisions he wasn't working with vodafone. It was a windy day and i was outdoors at the time of the phone call, which meant i had trouble hearing him. When i asked "pardon?" he replied "am I speaking french or something?". He then asked if I was the contract holder, however the contract is signed in my mothers name so i said no. He then hung up on me. I'm unsure whether to ask vodafone if his claim was true, If he is telling the truth, should I complain about his costomer realation manors? If his claim is false, is there any sort of security queries i could ask about?
- Caller: Unknown - (something paired with Vodafone... apparently)
- Martyn Smith replies to Joe LewisHi, Joe, firstly we introduce ourselves as our company, we also read declarations to state that we are not associated with your current insurer or mobile phone provider, and i can only apologise for any remark that is made to you by any member of staff, all our calls are recorded and the staff are aware of this, i find it strange that a member of staff would jeopardise his position with the company by making such a foolish remark? i will investigate this matter further!

Martyn - Maggie| 3 repliesI was offered a discount for my phone insurance from the same number on friday, when the lady asked me to confirm my bank sort code which she said started with a number 5 I immediately put the phone down in panic,I want to know how she had access to my personal bank details without my consent,I want answers and will take it up with the police if I have to.
- Caller: 01792893377
- Martyn Smith replies to Maggie| 2 repliesHi Maggie, the answer is quite simple, all bank sort codes start with their own unique number, we give you the first digit as a pointer to identify the set of digits that we require from the card to set up the direct debit, if we dont take details then we simply cannot set up your insurance policy for your phone!

Martyn - Willie McDonald replies to Martyn Smith| 1 replyIt appears your sales staff do jepordise their position.I was called today and when icalled back the lady was very evasive re my questions and she hung up.VERY PROFESSIONAL
- Martyn Smith replies to Willie McDonaldHi the reason for the agent being evasive is quite simple, if you cannot provide us with a password or reference number then it will appear to us that the person on the end of the phone is phishing, this is usually a practice performed by rival firms to aquire information to make their product better than ours, staff are trained to ask the important security questions first, if this criteria cannot be met then you will get very little information!
If you require to speak to a manager, simply ask, you will get transferred and any question you have can be answered. Alternatively view our frequently asked questions page at http://www.protectagadget.co.uk/index.php/faq.

Martyn - PaulMy advice is DO NOT use this insurance company!
Regardless of what the customer services person posting on this forum says the staff are misleading and not upfront about who they are, what they do and why they contacted you.
They cold called me twice this week. Both calls were from polite sounding staff. They do not introduce themselves as "Hi, I'm $name$ from protect a gadget". Instead they say "You recently started an insurance policy with us and we are checking we have the correct phone model on record".
They slipped up when they said "Your current Direct Debit is for £9.99 can you just confirm the last few digits of your...". My policy is with CarPhoneWarehouse and is £3.99 a month. When I corrected them and asked them if they had misdialled they hung up without another word.
They must not have recorded this on their system as somebody else rang me from the same number today and I told them about the previous conversation/misunderstanding. When I said I'd already spoken to somebody they said "f#@k you very much then and hung up".
I'm not upset or angry, I just don't want people to get conned. Regardless of the FSA status the members of staff I spoke to tried to decieve me.
If they do record their calls it would be interesting to see which ones are audited by external parties.- Caller: 01792893377 Protect a Gadget

- andreai have just changed my phone number for the 3rd time in order to avoid silly phone call, but it seems that no one is able to get away from them im starting to get phone calls once again and im starting to avoid answering them.
- belly:)I have lost count of the number of times this number has rang me in the past month, after putting the number in to a google search to find who it was i refuse to answer. I took out a new contract over a month ago and was asked if i wanted to take out insurance-to which i said no. I was asked numerous times while in the Phones4U store if i was sure i didnt want insurance. So, after saying no to taking out insurance why is this number ringing? I made it clear i wasn't interested!
- aziekin november i got telephone call from this number the man who phone me says to me he wants my bank account number for my o2 phone insurance,i told him i have no insurance and he must speak to my wife first and gave him my wifes telephone number,he phoned my wife and tricked her to give him my bank account number,i checked my bank today and he took some money £17.99 from my account.i speak to o2 today and they told me this is fake insurance company
- Fraudulant spotter| 3 repliesIn regards to your data that you receive you have been well miss informed! You rang me up about insurance that i have not got! so why would i want to give my details to you. In addition, you have the worst customer service in this world! out of all the research/marketing/sales reps that ive spoke to, yours has been by far the worse, i work as as customer service team manager and would reckon that if any of my reps spoke to a customer as the person spoke to me then i would refer them to get sacked! absolutely shocking and worst ive ever experienced! Even if your company is regulated by the FSA i would never suggest this company to ANYONE! Even my worst enemy! Also, i cant se this being a proper company who relies on their company name as they have to pose as another company just to be able to achieve their sales! Idiots!

- williams replies to deleted post| 2 repliesA very annoyed mother, this company is a CON hun, I am a customer service agent for virgin media, and I would never dream of talking to a customer the way these people talk to their potential clients!
My brother works for a company called Consortium Technology in Swansea and they are by far the best Insurance company going they also sell other items maybe this gadget company needs to take a leaf out of PROPER COMPANY'S BOOK who actually CARE about their clients rather than Money, If one of them rings me I wont even entertain them, they need to shut up shop and all get a job in tesco as they do not have the manners or the intelligence to actually make any money or become a long standing company!
I ALSO THINK IF THIS IS A GENUINE COMPANY THEN THEY NEED TO SEN THEIR STAFF ON A CUSTOMER SERVICE COURSE TO LEARN SOME BLOODY MANNERS AND RESPECT!
