Got a call from this number a couple of minutes ago, talking about phone insurance, first they asked me what phone I had (what!) to which I lied and they didn't know the difference, then asked for my name and address, both of which were lies also, again they had no idea, then they set up a password so I just said a random name. The bloke on the other end then asked me for my sort code to set up a new direct debit at which point I'd had enough so I hung up.

If this was a genuine call I'd have at least like to have had some information confirmed first of all.

Oh and the biggest tell of all was that I never even took out insurance on my phone, so why would they be giving me a discount on my current policy? Crafty beggars

BUYERS BEWARE - THESE PEOPLE ARE CHARLATANS OF THE WORST KIND!!
Extremely pushy, misleading sales people, fringing rudeness and impertinence who duped me into this belief that they had something to do with my mobile phone provider, as a result I am left paying for 2 insurance policies.

This company is totally misleading - they did NOT read any declarations at the beginning of the conversation and made me believe that it was the company with whom I had my insurance with, when they began asking for my name address and bank details I smelt a huge fat rat - they may be within the law with the cold calling but are very close to the line with their methods of attempting to gain information from people.

I received a call from these guys a day after i bought my new phone with insurance. They read the declarations proving they were genuine and were extremely polite, my insurance from phones for you was for 9.99 a month which bumped my monthly payments up to 50 a month, with these they take payments of 4.99 quarterly and you have the first month free. I gave the lady on the phone my bank details and she then passed me on to her supervisor to confirm all the correct details. as far as i'm concerned i'm now getting a great deal for my money, as i only pay 40 a month now and an extra 20 ish every 3 or 4 months. AND if ANYTHING happens to my phone i only have to pay 25 upfront which is a lot less than phones 4 u insurance. I feel
I was pressured into taking the insurance from phones 4 u and was very grateful when i recieved the call from REI. I am very happy with the company, although they rang again yesterday and did waffle on a bit before i could say i'm already with you! And they have rang again today, just a slight irritation, but i'm sure someone will update the system soon, until then, i'm ignoring the calls.
They really are just trying to offer you a better deal. Give them a chance, and there's no need to be rude to anyone. EVER!

If you pay attention to the article, it relates to mobile phone warranty scams along with sky box warranty scams etc, the insurance customers purchase off protectagadget is underwritten by ageas, and administered by supercover (who incidentally cover mobile phones for reward account customers for 2 out of the 5 high street banks) So when your trying to degrade the validity of an insurance company, i think a little more homework needs to be done.
As for the cost itself, we are almost half the price of the store because we are 'direct to insurer' there is no 'middle man' to pay!
    Kind Regards

All a HUGE scam as separate mobile insurance is entirely unnecessary. If you have a good household insurance policy your mobile will be covered and if you have a "value added" bank account (e.g. you pay £5 etc a month) mobile phone insurance is thrown in as well. Just read your policies to double check but don't trust this lot! The Supercover reviews say it all - you'd be lucky to get a refund!
