Jayne - Where r u based & who do you work for?

I just had a call from them and they could not even pronounce my name correctly even after i corrected them! When the person asked to confirm my details for security I said no and they just hung up.

Not sure who they are as they never leave a message and constantly ring all day and evening even at the weekend.

I have left this tip before however . . . just in case!

BT now have a service "Choose to Refuse" where you can block numbers like this (by barring incoming calls from a liat you create) - costs £3-4 per month, bargin!

I have had several calls from this number and I dont answer it as it is not a number I know... who are they?

yes this is number is for halifax dedt collections,also Intelligent Finance as it part of halifax so there maybe more company that halifax associate with.

Just this second phoned, he asked for me then said he was from Halifax security centre and asked me to confirm my date of birth for security reasons. I almost thought about it then realised I have no dealings with the halifax!

I had numerous calls from this number claiming to be Halifax. I have made it clear that the name is not linked to my number but calls keep coming in.

Change your number to a £1.50 a minute num ber like mine, they stop calling, and when they do call I am happy to spend ages on the phone.

The money numbers can be bought and tied to your mobile so you never miss a call again :)

Similar to above. Many calls over the last couple of weeks. This morning when they rang (yes, also an Asian sounding man) I demanded to speak to his supervisor and the guy said no. I asked for his name and he wouldn't give it. I said I wanted either his name or to speak to a supervisor. He then just hung up on me. A thorough nuisance.....

We are continuously getting calls from these people, in our case they are claiming to be the Halifax and are trying to get identification details. I rang the Halifax and asked if they were trying to contact us, they said they weren't; so we reported the number to them and I believe their fraud department is looking into it.

I have had several of these calls over the last few days as well. when asked for this fictitious person, i said "hang on a mo, i ll go get her" and leave the line open. it lasts about two minutes before they hang up. feeling kind of good about this as it gives the poor sucker at the other end a break.

We don't have any link to the Halifax other than these stupid calls on my wife's mobile asking for someone we don't know.  They will not stop calling, so we have passed it on to the police, suggest more do the same until the police or the Halifax take action.

I've received a few calls from this number to both mobile and landline.  I finally picked up and a woman claiming to be from Halifax asked me to confirm my security details.  I asked why she was calling and she repeated that she was calling from Halifax.  I asked again exactly what it was in reference to and she hung up!

just got call from this number a couple of hours ago asking for my details, refused to give them but asked what call was in connection with but would not say until i confirmed my DOB etc. Said they will keep calling until i give details.

If you don't know who is calling don't give them ANY details, don't even confirm your name. I have had calls from this number and I don't have a Halifax or HBOS account. It is best not to be too abusive as you can get into trouble for this. You can have fun however if you have time to kill by stringing them along to waste their time eg: give an incorrect DOB and swear their records must be wrong.  If you don't have time to kill either don't answer or answer, tell them you will not give out personal information then hang up.

I had a call from this number asking for my husband. I told them he was at work during working hours (8am - 7pm. each day)and to ring back after 7. The phone rang repeatedly throughout the rest of the day (I have caller display and so I didn't answer), until later when I gave in only to have the phone slammed down on me. If you ignore the call they leave a message saying this is the Halifax and to press any key to continue. By leaving it unanswered this leads to endless messages left on your answering machine to work your way through later. If you have been out this is a real nuisance as you can't chance missing a legitimate call. I find it best to press the button to take the call and then press it again immediately to cut them off before they can leave a message. You have to have caller display for this and it still means dashing to take the call.

i have received calls from this number and after looking on here found out that its halifax i used to work for HBOS in Manchester and i will assure anyone that this number is NOT part of Halifax OR even Bank of Scotland as this is what HBOS stands for. I use to work in a department that was the only department that rang customers (apart from other departments returning calls from customers) and the only thing we did was questionaire on the phone and HBOS decide to shut our department down as it was not needed to be done.
