I Think the company YFR should be looked into!

After spending almost an hour reading some of the comments on this forum I decided to add my own experience. A week ago l applied for a Sales Assistant/ Sales Advisor role (totaljobs.com). Two days later l got an email from a company called Cityscape Promotions at Shands House close to london bridge. I called the number on the email and setup an appointment. The interview was for the following day. I was asked to bring my CV and a cover letter. When I arrived l buzzed London Marketing and they let me in. I was told to come to the lower ground floor. I got to the basement and the reception area had worn out black leather and the receptionist was playing the music so loudy!!! I was given and enquiry form to fill in which to me seemed pointless. The marketing manager (nick johnson) then called me into his office, the interview didn't even last 5mins literally!! He was talking unstop and didn't ask me if l had any questions. Instead he kept scribbling on the back of my CV, he didn't even look at my CV or cover letter (a**hole). I was then dismissively told if l wasn't called later on that day no hard feelings.

I never lost hope but decided to go back to totaljobs to try my luck. 4 days later l get another email. Same wording but different company!! This time it's SSC Marketing but same address (14-20 shand house). My first thought was maybe its a different company on a different floor but nooooo l found myself in the same stuffy basement. And l thought WHAT!!! Okey so l keep my cool and fill out the same enquiry form effing form and sit there for 45mins. I'm called in by some lady who took me to a room and asked me what my ambitions and goals are. She kept scribbling on my CV!!! And told me l should wait for a call back for round two. Surprisingly 6 hours later l get a call tell me Im one of the top 4 selected from the 25 interviewed and l should come to a 9-6pm 'observation' tomorrow. Was also told to wear comfortable shoes to walk in and to bring a notebook and pen. After reading what the other guys went through I doubt l will be setting foot in the place ever again. if l were you l wouldn't waste my time these pple prey on desperate job seekers. I read they pay on commission but the job advert said £15 000 to £20 000 an annum, you use your own money to travel and you are put on a 9-12 months 'training programme' earning close to nothing!!!

P.S please note that these are legitimate companies registered on company house uk. However they scam and exploite people on the salary.

Recently I've attended an interview for Onetwotrade in Lloyds Ave, London, same [***], commission only, the company is registered in Malta and as part of the training you're requested to send information about the company to your friends and sign anyone who deposit of £200 minimum. Comission is 10% on customers deposits which makes you run to 10000£ every month to be paid £1000 and you have to pay your own taxes and ni contribuitions. WASTE OF TIME

I have been reading through some of these messages and i'd like to tell my story. It's going to be pretty long because along with my experience I have been doing a lot of research as I was shocked that I was able to be sucked in to this but I will be able to answer some suspicions and let you know what goes on at 14-20 Shand Street. Please take note of the (**) at the end of my experience I will be pin pointing the parts that stick out and what it actually meant even though I didn't realise at the time!!!

Just like a lot of other people I received a voicemail asking me to call back regarding my job application. There was no mention of what company it was but i was greeted by a lady called Lavinia she seemed very nice and bubbly.

I called back and I booked an appointment with them for the following day. I asked her if she could tell me more about the job role. She stuttered and said I will find out tomorrow...................really?? The next day I had to baby sit my niece and was unable to attend so I called and cancelled and she allowed me to book another day! Easy Peasy!!

So the day I arrived for the interview there was like 20 other people in the lobby. I remember thinking woaahhhh! I'm 22 everyone was roughly my age and in suits a rare but good sight. **

A lady at the reception desk gave me eye contact so I went over. There was loud music they were blazing Choice FM! Although this is very unprofessional I have to admit I was thinking this is my kind of place! I introduced myself and she said 'You finally made it' I looked at her funny and she replied i'm Lavinia, I then understood her comment. I noticed she had a lip piercing which was a relief to me as so do I so clearly this wouldn't be an issue as I have been asked to remove it in previous jobs.

She gave me a form on a clipboard and asked me to fill it out. Whilst i was filling it out I heard loud cheers and laughter behind closed doors. ** VERY ODD!!! The doors then opened and loads of young people came out and headed people looked as though they were leaving the building one after the other. everyone was in smart attire.....well everyone tried to be! there was a lot of ankle swingers going on as well as cheap suits and raggady appearances but ALL men were in shirt and ties.

I was then called into my interview. A guy called DUNCAN SHARP interviewed my I wasn't confident because I wasn't able to prepare because I hd no clue what the job was for!!! He went right into it. he turns my CV over and started scribbling on the back telling me the different stages of employment how much you earn and how long it takes to progress to manager. I dont ever think he stopped to breath it was so confusing. And when he was done he asked me if there is anything on the list I dont think I could do are you serious! The only thing that popped out to me was the earning £250 a week!! ** He explained that they did door to door, events, and something else I cant remember (I was secretly hoping I was put on events) After more crap talking he told me If im successful i will be called and invited for an observation day. I said ok goodbye and left. I didnt think they would call because i THOUGHT i was unprepared but clearly now i see there was no way i could have been they were too secretive. Sure enough I received a call and was invited back the next day.

SO! I went back the next day I was made to wait 1.5 hours with 4 other canditates before Duncan was finally ready to take me for my observation. We left the building. It now made sense why on the day of my interview everyone was leaving the building, they were going to knock on doors!! We walked out in London Bridge he was walking so fast it was hard to keep up and he kept talking about the job i was just like yeah mmhmm uhhh huhh. he then asked me if i had an oyster wtf!! I had a travel card but no one told me we were about to get on public transport this is so unorganised! We got on a bus with duncan another guy called barney and his candidate that was shadowing him and we got of in stoke newington in hackney. We walked to a council estate and got knocking!! We were trying to get people to donate monthly to som unknown charity!! The whole time he was talking about money how much he made and how many countries he had been to. It seemed as if he was living the dream!! Im telling you we knocked on like 100+ doors i met some characters! A man that dribbled, A crazy old woman that kept howling, kids as young as 9 the oldest in the house and incharge of younger siblings and thats not even it. There was so many people but I will tell you about one. I'm using real names because I dont care if they read this and they are able to tell this is me what they are doing is wrong and they need HELP!

There was a black boy called Seth 26 years old MAXIMUM!! He was a very nice guy and fell for duncan's charm and let us in his flat. He was very friendly told us he had two kids and that they are staying with his aunt. But I could tell something was quite right with him but didnt know if it was just me. He explained he was a DJ so i started to make convo with him he showed me a flyer and it said ''A night run by people with special needs" and then it all made sense..... He showed Duncan this flyer I know he must have read that part and I know that he did because when he started to fill out the direct debit part on the form he asked him if he was incharge of his accounts, he had previously told me you are not allowed to sell to over 25s and vunerable adults and that its a tale tale sign when they dont control there own account. ANyway seth said he controlled his account so duncan go filling away. When we left the house I told him did you know he had learning difficulties and he said ''oh did he!?'' [***]!!

Soon after we went to lunch. We went to the cashpoint and he withdrew a big wad of cash **  and didn't try to hide it either i was thinking what a dick all that for the cafe?

We ate he went over more [***] facts about the business then we went back to door knocking at this point i was so pissed of and contemplated going home but i thought ive got so far might as wel stick it out. I needed the job anyway.

Eventually we made our way back to the London Bridge office and got force fed even more info and was told i needed to memorise it in order! for a questionnaire. This day was getting more and more [***] but this time it was like 7pm! Not to mention he had only made one sale to a guy with special needs at that!! guess u aint eating tonight booboo!! and your making out like your a money man. hmmmmm

Any way did the questionnaire then was called into the interviewing room. Now it was a different guy he told me I had done well on my questionnaire and that he had heard good things about me. He then asked why he should give me the job and then said theres one more thing he forgot to ask duncan and that this will help him to decide if i got the job or not. He left the room then came back after two mins** with duncan and offered me the job.

He told me that the next day there was a seminar in holborn and that I should go as it would help me and that duncan will give me the info. Duncan walked me al the way to the station and told me he would text me the info. special treatment!!??

The next day i went to holborn station there was a SEA OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN SUITS in was an exciting sight everyone was happy and it was a sunday morning!! and they were at a seminar for work and were not getting paid i remember thinking wow these people really love their job!

Ducan had told me he would meet me at the station at 10am so I called him he told me he was in a meeting and that he would meet me at the hotel! I was pissed of!! you told me to come here I havent even started working I dont know anyone everyone is huddled in groups chit chatting I was not happy!! I didnt even know where the hotel was!! So in the end I had to make friends suprisingly everyone was so lovely. When i asked numerous people if they worked for RED FIVE (my employer) everyone said no!! there were so many businesses but it was the same job weird! I asked people how long they had be working.....(I learnt not to say working for red five because no1 seemed to work for them but me!) everyone I had asked hadnt been there for more than 2 months.** We then walked to the hotel.

The seminar was a great experience. I didnt know much about he job but i got all the info i needed from the seminar. there was many guest speakers with success stories from working for this huge company that had so many different businesses operating under the same thing..dont really know how to word it! I kept thinking why I had never heard of this company before and i kept wishing my boyfriend was here experiencing this too and that he could also learn so much from their teachings.

But I found out that basically there was an original direct marketing company when you sell a certain amount of door to door you can then go to the next stage where you are the leader of that team.... the next stage is getting your own team to manage and making your own company and hire people to be in your team to do door to door while you manage them and they do all the hard work for you. So the man that was the first ever business he has hundreds maybe thousands of companies affiliated below him and he gets a percentage from all of them WOW HE'S RICH!! Then the company that hired you in the first place you have to pay them a percentage of the money you make thats why there are so many businesses under one roof!! So the plan is to develop so many sellers so that they can then do the same as you did and start their own company giving you a percentage so that you end up not even having to work because other people are generating income for you!!** THIS WAS AMAZING I WAS GOING TO BE RICH. All the guest speakers spoke about how wealthy they are and how we could achieve the same wealth by working hard and getting from the first stage of knocking on doors to being SELF EMPLOYED.**

Another guest speaker then told us of a time he went to Florida with his girlfriend and swam with dolphins. The dolphins where in a cage he had to get in it to swim with them. After his experience the keeper showed him how to do tricks with fish. If he raised the fish in the air the dolpin stood up if the brought the fish down abruptly the fish then jumped up in the air. He noticed that the dolphin could jump higher than the cage so he asked him " If the dolphin can jump higher than the cage why doesn't it jump over the cage and out to freedom'' the keeper responded ''because of fear. the dolphin knows all he has to do is one trick for a fish but if he leaves he is scared of the fact that their is not guarantee it would eat''. He said this is the same as people working for an employer they are so comfortable that they are scared to be self employed as there is no guarantee of success! He urged us that we needed to be brave and take that step and that being at the seminar we had proved ourselves and that everyone else was really not worthy. I was in AWE he had such a way with words people were cheering stomping their feet clapping giving standing ovations you name it!! The next speaker mentioned what people usually say about commission only jobs. WAIT WHAT!! COMMISSION ONLY!!?? I DIDNT KNOW THIS I WASNT TOLD THIS I DIDNT KNOW THIS TILL NOW!! I THOUGHT IT WAS £250 a week? But because i was so pumped up i didn't care. He told us of a 17 year old boy that was earning £550 a week way more than his parents this was inspirational. **

I left this seminar feeling gasssssed!!!!!!! I had been filled with so much adrenaline! it felt good! I couldn't wait to start, I was going to work hard and I was going to be rich!

After the seminar everyone was on high spirits I was introduced to the 'top dogs' in the company they were very welcoming. I said my good byes and headed home.

It was that night that went onto my laptop and decided to google the company. The Red Five website really didnt have that much information so i typed in the address. I was actually looking for the guy that started this I wanted to know how rich he was. THATS WHEN I CAME ACROSS THIS FORUM.

I started to read..... all negative NEGATIVE!! I WILL BE 100`% HONEST I was thinking you guys didnt know what you were talking about and that you were all lazy and wernt prepared to work hard to reap the benefits that this job had they had sucked me in I was totally brainwashed!!

Then I did a little more researched and was gobsmacked when I came across an article of someones experience that was identical to mine!!

This is when I realised that this was actually a cult business**

Everything had began to click in my head! People were cheering stomping their feet standing on chairs and rejoicing and these talkers were preaching at the seminar!! it was like church except people where worshipping money instead of God. There was a constant obsession with money it was the topic of every sentence.

Not only that research into direct marketing with charity donations I found out that after the fee charged by the company the charity wouldn't receive any money till after 50+ weeks as payments before that goes towards paying the company - this is appalling!

To cut a long story short this company brainwashes and discriminates to line their pockets! Its sad!

**Everyone young in the workplace? - Young people are easy targets. In the recession they are finding it hard to get work and jobs are advertised as get rich quick schemes very appealing! The more desperate you are for a job the easier it is to take advantage.

**Laughter behind closed doors? - I later found out that in the morning appraisals take place. If you sold well and made a lot of sales you are praised infront of everyone, such a great incentive to push harder and make more sales. Also a fun atmosphere with music happiness and laughter makes you confortable and not want to leave you dont want to let anyone down even if you arent selling!

**Talking 100mph scribbling on a piece of paper? - This was to throw me off! to confuse me! to make me forget about asking questions and entice me with the idea of progressing to manger and earning a so called £250 a week

**Showing off a big wad of cash - He was trying to show off and create an illusion that he was minted!! after all if he took me out for an observation that meant that he was building his team and needed me to work for him!!!!!!! He wanted me to do his dirty work for him so he could laze about and go on all these so called holidays he goes on (yeah right)

**Left the interview room and came back? Now this is the part that annoys me the most.
He gave the illusion that i still needed to prove myself by doing this. This implied that I needed the job more than the job needed me (of course the opposite is actually true). This is done firstly to make an individual think the company is not desperate for them to start and also uses the old sales impulse of ‘fear of loss' which makes anything you cannot have or might lose much more desirable. Telling the me that he is unsure of whether or not he wanted to hire me makes made me think that it is a pretty hard job to get and essentially it was a trick to get me frothing at the mouth. ANY ONE AND EVERYONE IS EMPLOYED THAT IS THE REALITY!!

**No one had been there for more than 2 month - This should have been the tale tale sign! im assuming now that this is because the reality is no 1 was making enough money to support themselves and saw what a load of crap this was an left!.

**Other people generating money for you? This is called the Pyramid Scheme and guess what its illegal!! google it!!

**Self Employed?? Now thats just a sick lie! there are hundreds of people above you. You may have just registered your own business but your paying someone else for using their clients thats your BOSS!! REGISTERING A BUSINESS IN YOUR NAME IS JUST A COVER UP FOR THEM!! AND WHILST THIS HAPPENS THE MAIN GUY IS GETTING RICHER AND RICHER AND RICHER!! The original company is called cobra they make 42 million last year and everyone else is struggling to eat!!

**Inspirational talks? Just straight up propaganda and brainwashing. These seminars are organiser to brain wash people into working for free to benefit other people.

TO CONCLUDE 14-20 SHAND STREET IS FULL OF ZOMBIES ITS A SHAME BECAUSE THEY ARE LIVING IN A DREAM LAND THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING THEY ARE JUST CHASING THE DREAM TO BE RICH YOUNG AND NAIVE JUST LIKE I WAS. SORRY NOT ALLOWED TO SELL TO OVER 75 YEAR OLD NOT 25 YEAR OLDS!

SAme experience as everyone. I came to the UK from Spain, and I told Myself "I have nothing to loose to try"

I went to an interview, they told me they were really impressed with my CV and my media background and that this was a marketing job. He saw I made videoclips and worked with Matt Cardle, Olly murs and other X Factor people, and he told me that the were related with that. They ask me for another interview as observer next day.

I went excited. It all went wrong. First my coach had a really close accent and it was really hard for me to understand, we went by tram to a village and He told me I had to pay for tram (5£) I said I was not going to pay it, its my poliic, dont pay for work!!

He paid me, now I realised that my coach is like me, so probably he paid it from his pocket.

It was a sunny day on August so I went with my suit but without the jacket because nobody told me I was going to stay on the streets all day. then it began to rain like crazy. i was under the rain for a couple of hours. Absolutely wet, shaking of cold and I told my coach I really needed to take a break, keep warm and eat something. We stopped for a while and he explained me their coach program, how they pay (comission, insane!) and the realated X Factor thing was because we were selling talk talk, X factor sponsor.... Really related going to parties as PR of Leona Lewis and selling talk talk door by door...

Then we went back, I felt terrible under the rain, but we were so far away that I didnt know how to go back to manchester. We ended at 8:30 pm (from 9:30) and arrived to Manchester at 9:30 they offered me the job, they congratulated me for my great work (I didnt do anything) and they told me to go back next day.

The next day I was really ill, with a huge cold and lot of temperature. I went to say i needed to go home, they asked me to signed my contract, i did. They asked for just a meeting, i did. They asked me to be at atmosphere for a couple of minutes, they were telling me so many things at the same time... I made another meeting, then they asked me to wait for another meeting, I threw up on the toilet and decided to go home no matter what, they even asked me to stay there for a minute (I arrived at 9:30) i left the building at 12:15. I asked them when could I see any money, obviously they dnt pay anything you dont sell, so my first weeks of trainning will going to be for free, working 12 hours per day, 6 dqys per week.

I needed a job, but that was not a job, it was being a slave. I phoned next day i was not going to work with them. i had one of the worst experiences of my life and a cold that took me 3 days in bed.

I got a call from somebody named jade today from YFR LTD and said that I have an interview tomorrow. I couldn't remember when I applied for this role and was s little embarrassed so accepted the interview. I instantly received an email saying....

I am pleased to confirm your Interview with us Tomorrow, Thursday at 13.30 with

The address is just below and if you visit Google maps online and type in
"angel station" to "N1 9LL" it will tell you where to go.

When you come out of the station across the road you will see a HSBC bank

Yfr, ssc all of them are names for slave work
They prey on the young, desperate and those who dont underdtand english very well
Even if you dont go to the interveiw you still feel scammed as they offered you hope which is what people want in this job climate

I also got this call from yfr which i could not place as i could not remember applying but i thought a job is a job and set about trying to find a way to skip uni to go to the the baron street address

I am soo glad i didnt skip my education to go to thelowlife scumbags and if i do get another call i will be having some frank words with those who think its okay to do this

Just went to an initial screening interview at 14-20 Shand Street today and I was called back by the Managing Director Tom that I had progressed to the second stage. The second stage apparently will consist of shadowing an experienced sales executive or whatever.

After reading this, I am DEFINITELY NOT attending! In the back of my mind I thought, how are we going to go around London, will my trainer drive us around. However after reading that I would have to pay, I am no longer interested.

Why would they prey on people who don't understand English or speak it very well. Surely, people like that can't do sales in an English speaking country? People are so dumb.

but it was all a bit weird no name of the company..
then I didn't receive a confirmation email so I didn't know where the company was..
they never answered the phone for days..
now I have an interview with 'Maximus Global' I haven't found any direct scam reports on the company but it is mentioned in a lot of reports.
