Report a phone call from 02078909052 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Colin| 1 replyI had a call from 02078-909052 yesterday evening. The guy, with a foreign accent, said he was from GFK and was doing some market research on behalf of QVC, which would only take 2 minutes. He had my name, although he said it backwards (surname, first name), so in my case I wasn't random dialed.
I must be mad, as I agreed to answer his questions (I am naturally cautious, so I don't give personal data, especially to unsolicited callers), but the line went dead before he asked the first question. May be he was so surprised that someone said "yes", that he thought it was a "no" and he hung up.
I like the post asking how much they pay for answering the questions, wish I had thought of that at the time....next time! - Stephanie Ni MhailleI have received 5 calls in the last 3 days. I have repeatedly asked them to stop calling. I have now emailed their company telling them that unless they take me off their list I will be reporting them to the police under the nuisance calls. Whether this will do any good, I doubt but it made me feel better!
- Caller: gfknop customresearch
- kia fosterLets see if we can find a common denominator to this calling. I got called. Ive only had the line from Virgin Media for 2 weeks. Coincidence ,or do VM give the
marketing company my number ??
Anyone else similar ? - DaveJust got a call from these people. They asked for me by name, my wife passed the phone to me.
They went right into question asking mode, I stopped them and asked how they got my number, she said it was random dialing and I wasn't on a database.
When I asked "So how do you know my name?" she said sorry, said they wouldn't call again and quickly hung up.
I think I will call them, and see how they like being lied to. - CarolynJust had a call from this company(10.50 on a Sunday morning)who said they were doing market research research on behalf of telecoms. Said I had registered not to receive unsolicited call and was told this did not apply to them as they are not selling. Started asking questions and was told they were based in Blackburn and she then hung up.In the past few weeks I have also had a few missed calls from this number. I wonder how they got my number as I am ex directory? Virgin Media? QVC?
- Caller: GFKNOP
- colinEnjoying a lieing in bed on a cold Sunday morning and these people disturbed it. Told them in an unpolite manner where to go.

- Caller: HP
- ChrisJust had a call from them, but someone else answered and said that I was out, the person had a scottish accent and they said they were from HSBC.
- Caller: Seems to be HSBC
- atomickarmaWe've just had a call from this "operation" - luckily we missed the call. Having read through the above comments, the only common denominator I can see so far is British Gas (unless they really do go through the phone book at random?)
Just a thought - if it is a utility this would explain how they know what bank is involved. However Chris on Feb 6th's post is quite worrying. - adaIt is a Valentine day and I was called by this number four times already. I failed to pick up the phone each time and each time I dialed 1571 and this number came out. Thanks to this website I have finally demystified my secret admirer. ;-) hahaha
- atomickarmaFollowing on from my previous posting, this number rang again this Sunday morning (!) and claimed to be performing a survey for the NHS.
Read into that what you will, however certainly locally we're being asked to take part in the GP survey.
Kind of hints at govt abuse of public data.
Again.- Caller: on behalf of the NHS?!
- Old Mother RileyThis organisation has a Web site. Look it up and find their MD. Look up telephone book. Call that number if you receive any phone calls from their company. Obviously it is courteous to choose a convenient time. Does not take a lot of effort. Makes you feel much better.
By the way.....this organisations internal rules require their operators to stop calling if you tell them to do so.
MD will be pleased to hear if those rules are being broken, so be sure to report every occasion. - StuI got a call from them tonight. Asain gut on the other end asked me to answer a few questions etc etc.
I said "Yeah, thats fine, but can you hold on a moment, I wont be long" and then I went out to the shops for a couple of hours.
It worked a treat, he wasn't there when I got back, LOL- Caller: GFKNOP
- StuI often get fed up with callers who continue with their opening speel about "this call is been RECORDED for training and security purposes"
I then ask them to hang on a minute, and when I get back I tell them "Right, Ive got my voice recorder to tape the call as well". More often than not, they will put the phone down. - JonI got a call from 02078909052 today. Woman claimed they are conducting a survey about going to cinemas. Said they where GFK Market Research or suchlike.
I'm x-directory and registered on the Telephone Preference Service.

I will now be complaining to the TPS regarding this company. Hopefully if the rest of you do, then they will get a BIG fine and stop phoning people who are registered on the TPS.
thanks - Katarina LenkeThey called me at 21:15 and told me that they were not governed by the TPS as they did market research and not selling - this then was confirmed by TPS after my complaint.
What a time to call and about something as pathetic as a Cinema Experience. As I am ex directory and registered by TPS and not having given out the house number as it only recently got installed makes me wonder how they got the number. Furious- Caller: GSK NOP based in Blackfriars
- johni had the same number call me. i am 15 and was in school and i just said that this is a student and left the phone because they couldn't hand up as it is stated in the policy.
- RichardThey are still at it. I have just had a call despite being ex-directory and registered with the TPS. I missed the call but got the number from my caller id.
One tactic we could use when we find out who their market research clients are would be to write to those clients, and tell them that their image is being tarnished by market research companies that get hold of ex-directory numbers or use random dialling. That might start to hit the market research companies in the pocket. I recommend writing to the chief executives of the client companies. - fromspainI got a call from them too.
When they begin to ask dodgy questions like that, then you know they are not who they claim to be, but they are collecting your data to steal your identity ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_theft ) - PaulHad a missed call from this number on a Saturday afternoon. On calling back, I got a message stating that the company is GFK NOP and provided URL of their website: www.gfknop.com.
- Caller: GFK NOP
