Had two missed calls from this number today. One whilst I was out which I only discovered when I dialled 1471 upon getting home, and one at 5.10pm (Saturday evening), which I was too late to answer personally, and when my answqering machine cut in they rang off.  I tried calling the number back but it just rings out. That's when I ran the number through 'Google' and discovered this site.
My advice to anyone getting a call from this number is to ignore it. Reading the previous entries makes me think it's all a bit dodgy.

Claimed to be doing survey on TV for Ofcom. Wanted an under 35 yr old...I am well over that age so they thanked me and rang off.

I live in Switzerland (!) and got a call with this number on my swissmobilephone yesterday evening!How they got my mobilenumber??I didn't response because I didn't know the number and was wondering which countrycode "0044" is! Today I did research in the internet and I'm glad that I found this page now! Hope they don't call me again.

...HAS been selling our details to Market Research companies!  We've used vistaprint here before too.

Just had a call from this number, asking for my wife. When I told her she wasn't available, ahe asked when she would be. I asked who it was and she told me that she was calling on behalf of a company that my wife deals with, but wasn't allowed to tell me who she was.

hi i understand that many of you are frustrated by these calls but usually the personal informationi.e your name and number.. is given to gfk nop from the specific bank provider or company they are calling on behalf of. gfk nop simply are asking questions that your own banks etc want to know. your banks even have a person who says reveal us as a client or not and also have a say in what the questions are depending on what they want to find out.

Hi, I just came across this page and I understand why some people find these random calls suspicious. However, this company is a genuine market research company..

1. Market research is survey questions. They are not selling anything. Hence TPS register does not refer to them!!

2. If they ask for your name, they are given your name and number by the company whom you are currently with, e.g., a bank or building society who want to know the views of their customers.

3. If someone else picks the phone up and it is a financial survey, they cannot reveal the name of the client. This is simply because some partners may not know of an account in the nameholder and so under the Data Protection Act they cannot reveal this.

4. You can stop the survey at any time if you feel uneasy.

5. You can ask them to remove your number from the database and they will do this.

6. You can call the Market Research Society on freephone 0500396999 to confirm that GFK NOPS are a genuine market research company!1

I hope this clears your confusion, people!!!

I just received the same phone call, from the same number and honestly I don't believe it was only for a research.
Actually they called me telling me that few days ago I got a sevice from a company (wich is true)... and they just wanted me to answer to few questions (3 minutes).
I said "sorry, I'm not interested".... I did not answer because:
I'm italian, any company for any question if serious can call me using a national code or a green number...
second, they called me at a quarter to 8.....nobody really serious disturbs peolple at the time
third....3 minutes questions.....means for the database they got a lot of money!!!!
I don't know the reference word in english....but E' UNA TRUFFA!!!

ho effettuato un servizio con carglass la scorsa settimana. durante il periodo di assistenza mi hanno sempre contattato con numeri italiani....ma magicamente 15 minuti fà, ricevo una strana chiamata con prefisso anglosassone....avendo amici all'estero rispondo tranquillamente....e invece scopro che si trattava di un "3 minuti di questionario per migliorare il servizio".....se vi dovesse capitare NON RISPONDETE....è una vera è propria truffa.....pagate la chiamata all'estero...e chissà se la tariffa applicata è quella adirittura degli 199-144.....immaginate i soldi che ci rubano....3 minuti per ognuno di noi!!!!

My mum got a phonecall from this number asking specifically for me, and apparently it's a guy called Justin, if that is any help.

This number rang yesterday afternoon and an Indian lady asked for me personally.
She asked me would I be willing to take part in a survey about our local branch of Alliance & Leicester. As I had nowt better to do I said yes, took about 4 minutes, questions about how satisfied are you with the service provided, waiting times etc.
Press 1 for extremely dissatisfied to 7 for extremely satisfied, you know the drill!!
Guess Santander must be contemplating closing our branch to do this!!!

Bizarre call to my wife asking for me by name in the middle of a weekday - when she said I was at work they hung up abruptly. Didn't even say what they wanted. As she said very odd behaviour - maybe if you have an all inclusive call package like me maybe we should all ring them at the same time in a Denial of Service attempt. Time to fight back!

Now know from this forum that it was them!

Got a call from this number twice today (Sunday). The first time I didn't get to the phone in time. I answered it the second time and a very polite man rattled of a company name that I didn't catch and said they were undertaking a national survey and would I mind answering a few questions. I said no, and he asked if later would be better. I said not really as I don't really know who you are or what you are talking about - he hung up before I had finished my sentence! Obviously not a legitimate caller!

I have the same call today but I can't answer...
I'm also french.

Market Research Company. If they did their research they'd know not to call!!

My mother just received a call from this number on her DANISH mobile! She is in London visiting me for a week and the only people she has ever given her mobile number to here in the UK is easyjet and ryanair! Very strange! She missed the call and was surprised to see a London-number on her display. I immediately checked here instead of calling back - and am glad I did. Still, very mysterious how they got her Danish phone number in the first place!

Yep, just got a call from them and guess my number and details were handed to them by a sales company I contacted earlier in the day (ironically to complain about faulty goods).  I may have been more polite but come on it's 9PM and we're trying to get children to sleep!!!

Who the hell is this? Get a bloody life !

Ahhh just rang the number back and an answering machine came on saying it was www.gfknop.com   

Right, it's my turn to pester them !  I'm going to email them and complain.

Asked for my wife, but would not reveal her companies name.

When I said I wouldn't pass on message she said, "o.k. I'll just ring back later.

I'm going to phone back and ask to be put on the do not call list.
