You may wish to confer with Kent Trading Standards who have issued the following 'wellness' cold call alerts because Bexley, where the company is registered, is in Kent:

"Wellness Survey" Phone Calls Are NOT Associated with Your GP’s Surgery

Kent Trading Standards have had reports of Kent residents being contacted by telephone with the caller stating they are doing a wellness survey or similar...

    All Areas

The caller gives the impression they are associated with their local GP’s surgery and asks for identification. Consumers are encouraged to talk about any illnesses they are suffering and then are recommended to take certain products such as pomegranate extract or rosehip.

Payment is taken by debit or credit card over the telephone.

In several cases the consumer has agreed to try the product for one or two months but when the product is delivered they find they have been sent 6 months supply, and 6 months payment has been taken at the time of the initial call. When they tried to cancel the order, they have been contacted later by the salesman who became aggressive.

Trading Standards are investigating, but advise consumers to be wary of anyone cold calling and never to give personal details over the phone. If you have any concerns at all concerning your health please seek medical advice from your doctor.

It started with a dodgy health survey, from the back of a sugging call centre
How could I resist the stench of your advice
You and I were insuggable, it was hate at first sight
You made me promise to buy wothless wellness pills from you, I made you promise to refund
But you were only eight years old and my mum had just about turned ninety
I thought that life was always good, I thought your survey was just that

It started with a health survey, I never thought it would come to a sales call
It started with a health survey, I never thought it would come to a sales call

"Sugging is a market research industry term, meaning "selling under the guise of research". This behavior occurs when a product marketer falsely pretends to be a market researcher conducting a survey, when in reality they are simply trying to sell the product in question."

Pomegranate Tablets Scam replies to Paul M
    http://www.stmarysmedicalcentre.co.uk/notice.asp

    Warning of a scam

We have been informed that there is a scam going around whereby a company is telephoning patients, listing medication and advising the person that they would benefit from a course of Pomegranate tablets and then asking for the persons credit card details.  This persons account was debited £179.50.  We were notified about this by a practice in Herne Bay as far as we are aware this has not happened in the Medway area, however please be on your guard.

This is a Kent Community Message.

I have forwarded this warning from NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent as the operators of this scam may well spread their net wider.

Patients are urged to be aware of bogus callers

HEALTH leaders are urging the public to be vigilant about bogus callers who claim to be reviewing their medication.

More than five patients across eastern and coastal Kent have been telephoned by someone pretending to be calling from a local GP surgery.

The caller gives the impression they are from an official NHS source and asks about the patient's medication.

In some cases they have then claimed the patient would benefit from Pomegranate tablets and asked for credit card details.

One woman in her 80s thought she was talking to a GP surgery and gave her details and later found £179.50 deducted from her account.

When her son tried to trace the call back it came from a company based in India.

NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent's Assistant Director of Medicines Management Alison Issott said: "No NHS health professional would ever ask for a patient's credit card details over the phone.

"We would urge anyone who is suspicious of the calls not to give out personal details and to contact police."

Insolvency Service Data replies to Paul M
    http://insolvency.presscentre.com/Press-Relea ... nies-65662.aspx

Twenty-seven companies involved in the mis-selling of health supplements have been wound up in the High Court following an investigation by Company Investigations of the Insolvency Service.

The investigation found that all of the companies (see list below) had their registered offices in the County Durham area but traded internationally, mainly from locations in Barcelona and Malta by placing "Free Trial Offers" for health supplements on numerous websites.

Customers responding to a "Free Trial Offer" supplied their payment card details believing that only a small charge to cover postage and packaging (typically £3.95) was required.  However, if the customer  failed to cancel the “Free Trial Offer” within the cancellation period (usually 15 days) they were deemed to have agreed to an ongoing supply of the product from the companies, at a cost of around £70 to £80 each month.

    Commenting on the case, Stephen Speed, Chief Executive of The Insolvency Service said;
"The Insolvency Service is determined to come down hard on companies who seek to rip off the public by mis-selling products.  I urge all consumers to be vigilant when it comes to ‘free trial offers’, and remember if it looks to good to be true, it often is."

Analysis of the available records for just seven of the companies found that they had turnover in excess of $19 million in the period August 2009 to March 2010 which was processed through merchant accounts based in Germany.

The products offered by the companies included Acai Berry Detox, Acai Power, Effective Acai, Acai Detox, Absolute Acai, Colon Cleanse Fresh, Colon Purify, Life Cleanse, Resveratrol, Resvmax, Miraculous Teeth Whitening, PureClean Teeth, Dermasensation and Dermainfuse.

The investigation found that there was a serious lack of transparency as to who controlled the companies with the named directors being otherwise unconnected individuals residing in the Consett area of County Durham. Those spoken to by the investigators said they knew nothing about the affairs of the company of which they were the only director and said their only  task was to forward any post received for the companies to a local formation agent, Brinken Merchant Incorporations Limited. Each had been approached to act as a director by Brinken who paid them around £150 a year.

However, the Court heard that 25 of the companies were found to be under the common control of Local Billing Solutions Limited ("Local Billing"), a company registered in Malta. Local Billing maintained throughout the inquiry that it acted only as a payment processor and that the beneficial interest in the companies belonged to Canonizado International, a company said to be registered in Panama, of which the investigators could find no trace. On the documents available, the investigation established that the beneficiaries of the companies’ trading were most likely to be Local Billing and its principal Clayton Douglass.

Grounds for winding up the companies included,

    ·   The websites used by the companies misled customers into believing that the trial offer was risk free and limited in nature,

    ·    The terms and conditions of the offer were designed to confuse the customer and were not provided in any durable medium,

    ·   The length of the trial offer was not made clear.  Customers were provided with a 30-day supply of the product, but had, typically, only 12 days from receipt of the product in which to cancel any future supply,

    ·        The companies abused the privilege of trading through a limited company by effectively continuing the same method of operating as that used by Trading Planet Limited, Viv3lab Limited and Vivera Limited.

Those three companies having previously been wound up by the Court in the public interest.
The winding up orders were all made on 26 August 2010.

Winding up petitions were presented on 21 June 2010 against:-
LB Belvedere Limited, LB Cygnus Media Limited, LB Deluxepass Limited, LB Eridanus Entertainment Limited, LB Evil Angel Limited, LB Friendfinder Limited, LB Global Web Solutions Limited, LB Internet Media Productions Limited, LB Ilogic Solutions Limited

Winding up petitions were presented on 22 June 2010 against:-
LB LFP Internet Limited, LB Lyra Entertainment Limited, LB Nomad Media Limited, LB Pegasus Media Limited, LB Price Communications Limited, LB RSC Limited, LB Southint Prop Limited, LB Watt Media Limited

Winding up petitions against the following companies were presented on 23 June 2010 and on 25 June 2010 the Official Receiver was appointed as Provisional Liquidator of the companies:-

LB Carsed Marketing Limited, LB Nakedsword Limited, LB Cassiopeia Media Limited, LB Cybernet Entertainment Limited, LB RHS Limited, LB Pride Studios Limited, Intercontinental Consignment Logistics Limited and Gillmap Limited Petitions to wind up Fyso-UK Limited and H5-UK Limited were presented on

    13 July 2010.

Subscription Traps Scam Warning replies to P.L.Hosier
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/consumer-advice/consumer-alerts/subscription-traps

    Subscription traps

    Alert summary

Subscription traps are deceptive devices which work by tricking consumers into signing up to  a long-term contract for goods or services. They do so by including a tie-in period or through a commitment on the part of the consumer to take deliveries until they cancel, with refunds not allowed unless goods are faulty.

Consumers who are deceived are  not aware of a subscription until goods arrive or money is first taken from their account.

Consumers can be led to sign up by:

Attraction. Many subscription traps offer upfront 'trials, 'special offers' or 'rewards' that are free, discounted or described in reassuring but vague terms - for example as being 'risk-free' with no further explanation.  Details of the consumer's continuing commitment are hidden behind the offer.

Distraction. Another type of subscription trap offers products or services in addition to the purchase consumers set out to make - often in a pop-up window that appears during or just after the original sales process. Sometimes, consumers can sign up for a subscription just by entering an email address and clicking one button.

Subscription traps have been discovered in operation by some websites marketing:

Health foods and super-foods including acai berries and preparations based on them

    Pharmaceuticals
Cosmetics, particularly 'miracle' anti-ageing or anti-wrinkle products
Membership-benefits schemes, typically offering vouchers, discounts or cash-back

    Advice from the OFT

Be very wary if you are asked to enter any payment card details for a free offer and make sure you check the small print.

If you are not sure of the site, look for online reviews, and be careful about agreeing to any other options.
You should check your bank and credit card statements regularly to make sure that you are aware of what payments you are making. If you find any you are unsure of you should contact your bank or card provider at once.

If you are caught out it is possible to stop future payments being made on your Debit and Credit Card by contacting your bank or card company.

    Hi Bali,

Now the New Year is with us I am keen to resolve the overpayment refund by yourselves to my father of £155.40p at the earliest opportunity.

Could you please give me the details of who you want this paying back to so I can arrange for this to take place.

I know you said that as from the 1st January 2013 your company will have changed names to Natural Wellness Products Limited.

In relation to the letter sent to my father on 13th December 2012 telling me of this extra refund which was put into his account on 15th December 2012. The letter has the name Mahesh Matta as the Customer Care Manager, when I have rung up your company previously a lady called Jane has told me she is the Customer Care Manager.

It seems very suspicious as a person subscribing to this forum has suggested that Mahesh Matta, resigned from your company 1st April 2011, what is this all about or is it just another one of your company scams.

All the evidence I have seen so far on this forum and others, is all suggesting that as I have said before your company is an absolute disgrace, that you prey on the elderly & vulnerable, bully them into disclosing debit card details and con them into giving you as much money as you can at totally inflated prices.

You say you weren't even aware that you had paid the extra £155.40p into my fathers account, what puzzles me is how did you get his bank details, as you suppose to destroy them.

Bali I live in the real world, where I was brought up with strong values, of honesty and integrity & a high standard of morals.

I would be grateful if you could respond to my request at the earliest opportunity so I can arrange to have the money transferred to your account.

    Happy New Year

    Hi
Please see my latest entry on this page re Mahesh Matta, even though he resigned 1st April 2011, he still puts his name to the bottom of a letter dated 13th December 2012 to my father from Sanda Wellbeing.

This letter was to inform my father that he was getting a further £155.40 on top of the full refund of £1754 he had already got.

Stinks of buttering me up so I wouldn't complain any longer

    Regards
    Paul M

Thanks Nan! I looked at https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02071860083 and Your Wellness Magazine does indeed appear to be owned by the same people who run Sanda Wellbeing aka Sanda Wellness aka Natural Wellness Products Ltd. All very cozy! Did you examine the resort advertisements in the Magazine? Sanda! I must ask Bali if she knows anything about the advertiser with the Bensham Lane address. And the address of the magazine at the Beehive.

Have not seen the magazine, just saw the other number on here and checked it out.  Anything I can do to hurt these people, I will.  They prey on the elderly and have no concern for what their quack remedies could do and that's apart from stealing their hard earned money.  They make me sick.

If you look through the posts on here you will see warnings from NHS Trusts and GPs all over the country so Sanda's claim to be working alongside the NHS is a pack of lies.  You will also see from other posts on here that they are now using three different names, probably to try and confuse Trading Standards. Please report them to Trading Standards and Action Fraud.  They prey on elderly and vulnerable people.  They neither know, nor care, whether the rubbish they sell will react with medicine prescribed by the GP with serious consequences.  That is apart from the amount of money they steal from these same people.
