Our local paper mentioned this scam two weeks ago after a spate of complaints.

I'm in the Outer Hebrides and these guys with Indian accents from 02538020308 have phoned twice in the last week, quoted my full name, and then asked if my computer has been running slow.  Each time I've told the caller 'No my computers running fine, you are a scam artist and I'm calling the Police'

Just had a Call from them today saying they were TechDept of Microsoft!
I asked who is the chair of such company he didn't know!

They tried directing me to this site to download software....he said he could see form his files that my Windows Machine was riddled with virus's!!!

Its laughable because when I said I only have Macs in  my home he hung up the phone!!!

just had message from this number they told me i had virus on my comp wanted me to give them
info from my comp .I HUNG UP

just had this call,  same thing tells me I am in front of the computer what can you see???????
There are lots of computers in that area that have crashed . I will help you!!!!!!
No thanks I told him and dropped the phone down

I say this because I did not answer this call today and initially worried that it might be important, thanks everybody for your info.
Can anybody tell me ---- if I just put the phone down ( still  on) can they gleen any info?  (They eventually ring off.)
Who pays for their calls? ---  should we keep them on as long as possible!
This is one of many calls I have had.  There needs to be more publicity about them, I think I will get in touch with local TV news.

Targetting the Bristol area now, you'd think they'd give up judging by the reactions they've been getting from above comments, but for every-one who's savvy there's going to be some poor person who they con.

How low (or desperate) can these 'people' be?

If we all arranged to ring them at the same time, could we jam their phone line(s)???

my sons dad took i call from this number and stupidly done what they said after about a hour he was asked for £180 he then hung up but then it was too late and god knows what they done to the laptop as it had to be rebooted

Had this phone call 3 times now, the most recent being tonight told them there is nothing wrong with my computer and to beat it and they hung up, getting ****** off with them going to get in touch with trading standards

Had a call this morning from 02538020308 - an Asian male, asking for me by my surname, telling me that the problems I was having with my PC were due to a virus planted - he said that if I did nothing, within 24 hours the computer would stop working. He said he was from Microsoft.

I asked what he was talking about and which computer he meant (fyi, I work in web design and only use Mac) - he said 'do you have a computer' - i told him I didn't and he (extremely rudely and with a contemptuous tone) said 'My God!' and hung up on me!!!

Very rude and actually quite unnerving. Anyone know how to report this type of call?

Just had a missed call from this number. No message. At least I know what to do if they call again.

Just got a call from this number... second time in 3 days... Have no idea who it was but they were speaking in indian voice

Call from this number this morning. Said he was from IT Ltd. Reports of a fast spreading computer virus in my area. Asked his phone number and he gave 0208097586. However Caller ID gave this number. Told him politely to go away

Call received 4.3.11 at 12.45 - cut off immediately I answered.

Now hitting Timaru New Zealand     Gave them a bit of a speil, then told thm what I thought of scummers like that  LOL

Have been getting theses calls now for over a month..sometimes the string of 0's and a dead line, sometimes the automated goodbye and a couple of times from a live call purporting to be from a internet security firm. It was only tonight that I was able to get a full caller ID with the 0253802308 number. I am getting so tired of it. I asked the caller tonightto confirm the number, which I read back to her, then told her  not to waste her time or mine as I was going to be notifying the police.
I am from Dunedin, NZ and it is a relief of sorts to know that I am not the only one getting harassed.

I got the same call today. A man with an Asian accent claiming to be from Virtual PC Doctor. He just kept talking over the top of me. He couldn't sell ice cream in the desert!

Now targetting Brighton. Had about 3 silent calls since yesterday.

I have just received call from this number asking if they were speaking to Mrs Swift I told them there was no Mrs only a Mr and he asked if I had a computer. I said yes and he started to tell me, as far I could understand as he was foreign and did not speak good english, that there was a lot of problems with errors on computers in this area. He asked if I was in front of my computer and I told him I had just come in from work and was trying to do the tea. He again asked if I was in front of it and told him I had not even turned it on yet and he very rudely said well turn it on then. I told him where to get off as I do not know him from Adam and my computer has nothing to do with anyone but me. I typed the phone number in google and found this site will all these comments. How can we stop these sort of people? Looking at some comments it seems some people take it all in and get conned and it is not right.

08/03/2011 Odd call from a foreign sounding gentleman who said i had problems in my computer. He started shouting at me when I suggested this might be a scam. Area targeted - Northumberland.

Received several telephone calls from this number and when answered there is nobody there
