Nobody on the other end - phone just clicked.

Called earlier this evening, said they were from UK Research Centre, had a few simple questions with yes or no answers. Said he'd got my number from the local directory. Couldn't / wouldn't tell me more and hung up on me. Had an Asian accent, we are in Essex.

It is "Virtual PC "Doctor", just say you are a certified  pc engineer and don't need any help, usually makes them hang up.

They are still at it. Called 10th March 2011 around 4pm. Highly amusing since all my computers run Linux or BSD so no way could I have Windows virus!
Almost certainly spoofed Caller ID with call actually originating on the sub-continent and using VoIP.
Scamming [***] who attempt to get to log onto an infected website which downloads fake anti-virus malware to your computer

Got a call from 02538020308 when try to call it back says number not recognised. We're ex-directory but according to the info my wife got from the Indian voice on the phone pretending to be Sky satellite systems, (she told him if he didn't say where he got the info from she was going straight to the Police and reporting them for harassment & stalking and attempted fraud !)  BT sold them old CD info discs. I've told them never to call here again, but they don't care, they think they're in another country and cannot be prosecuted, so can do whatever they like and they repeatedly call.

got a call from this number twice in an hour ,knowbody there! both time .waste of my time!!!!!!!!

Looks like they are targetting the east coast as I am on the Essex/Suffolk border.

Hi Im from Wiltshire had the call from 02538020308 big delay in someone coming onto talk and a foreign voice difficult to understand,  Said her name was Ann from Computer... (couldtn catch the rest)Said I had a computer virus and I was sending out signals to them and they were worried hackers would get into my computer!! (Yea them if you do what they say) By then Id had enough of listening to the broken English and when she asked me to put my computer on I said if my computer was truly sending signals she would know i was online as we spoke and said it was a scam and I wouldnt be stupid enough to do anything she asked and asked her not to call again, then put the phone down

Also had this call several times in the past I have fobbed them off with just going out the door until today! Asian gentleman showing me all the infected programs on my pc then asked me to find my windows id which he talked me through. Then asked me to put the last 6 digit of this code into logmein123.com which came up as invalid code - due to Iwas advised all the hackers and viruses I had on my computer! I was then passed to a "technician" who advised they would need to rebuild the windows and give me a new code and the technicians would rebuild my computer for a small fee - I asked how much? he didn't answer but went on to tell me the benefits. When I asked how I could confirm he was genuine he got very aggressive, I advised that I had the right to question wether they were genuine as I recieved this call out the blue and hadn't requested any assistance, he was talking over me all the time saying listen to me, listen to me! I work for a very large mail order company and have a lot of experience with aggressive people on the telephone! So I told him to listen to me took the address where they are based and asked him to call me back at 4pm to give me time to confirm this is genuine - he then said "I see you are going to tell me when to call so at 4pm you can be out or have your anserphone on!!! the cheek! I advised I had not requested their services and hung up! Address he gave me was 256 Banbury Road Oxfordshire OX2 7HT. I'm based in the south-west near bristol!

I wish to stop these calls as mum is sometimes on her own and she gets worried about the phone call as she is 76 years of age this should be stopped ASAP please. thanks M. Calligan.

Sheldon just called me from this number. Seems like a very helpful chap....NOT!!!!

Asian man claiming to work for microsoft windows called 90 year old Gran. Said problem with downloading slowing computor and he would sort it for free. Hung up when Mother suggested he was not genuine and said she would call Son in Law.

I also have received at least one call a day from this number, have caller display now so will not answer any call where I do not recognise the number or wait to see if they start to leave message then decide whether to answer. In Burnley Lancashire area

Just had a call from someone asian sounding quoting my name and saying he  was from Vindows Computing or something.  I told him he was talking bollocks and hung up.

These people are still at it. Just had the call. An indian sounding lady said my system had been reported as having issues and that a Microsoft Certified Engineer could fix it for me. Claimed to be from the International Routing Department. When I asked what company that was a department of she didn't know. Said she was calling from GLasgow, but Caller ID gave the number as 02538020308, the Glasgow code is 0141. The 0253 isn't a standard UK one according to BT. I think they'll either instal their own malware to get financial details and the perpetrate a fraud, or sell the details for someone else to. Or they'll charge alot to fix a non-existant 'problem' and take money from the credit card at intervals in the future. Or again they could simply sell the details on for other fraudsters.  
I suggest people report these calls to the TPS if they are registered with them and report it to Action Fraud via their web site at www.actionfraud.org.uk.

another dodgy telephone number for you 08453000000 this was booked onto my telephone bill and was logged as a 9 min call costing me 0.48p this is a scam on a grand scale this i fraud what can be done to trace these scams
