This is the second call I've gotten.  Only just made the links as I didn't really pay much attention to the first call as I lied and said I didn't have a computer online!!  Foreign sounding guy - think Asian although I couldn't here properly!  Started to get shirty when i asked why he was calling and who called him requesting a phonecall.  The company name I got from this number is Technosolve!!  He hung up in the end once I got shirty with them!

Next time I will just hang up!

Tried to sell my 84 year old neighbour an 8yr protection plan after spending 55minutes on the phone supposedly clearing her computer.  Very very persistent and luckily my husband got rid. He also left a number 02080997526 and name of Malcolm Foster (Forster)

Had a call from this crew today.  I thought I would see if I could find out what they were up to...  They claimed that they had identified my computer as a source of infection on the internet.  I asked them for my IP address and they said that they didn't have an IP address for me but they had identified my PC as the problem.  I asked how they knew it was me and they gave my full name - I asked how they knew of all the people in the world with my name they knew it was me - they said that the router on the internet gave them the information.  Anyway, the first chap passed me to his manager - as he was a 'manager' I asked him the same questions - he couldn't answer either.

I asked what they were selling and I was tol nothing they are simply working to clean up the internet - I questioned why they would run a call centre (there was 'call centre' type sounds in the backgrund - probably on tape!) - they couldn't give a good answer.

I was then asked to bring up the 'Run' dialogue box (they helpfully directed me on how to do this) and they asked me to run eventvwr.  They then asked me to scroll down and find the error messages (Ithink to build a case that I had a problem).  He asked me to right click on an error message and asked if there was a delete option.  There wasn't of course as this is information.  He commented 'yes you see you can't delete it'.

He then asked me to run the inf commant (which they said was short for infection).  I refused and said that if they were really into computer security they will appreciate why I wouldn't take instruction from any Tom, Dick or Harry who found my phone number and I wasn't prepared to go any further - they hung up.

We kept each other tied up for 20 minutes.  I suspect they were building a case that would eventually lead to them asking for me to give them remote access to my PC for their own purposes.

Male person called. He had an accent from the Indian Sub Continent. He tried telling me I had numerous viruses on my Windows computer. I cross examined him and he gave all the wrong answers. I don't use Windows because it's crap. As a last resort he told me I had a fatal virus. I told him I had better things to do than talk to him as I needed to use the toilet. I hung up.

I've had a call today - Southamption area now.  It was an asian woman called Michelle said she was calling on behalf of windows and that some malicious files has been downloaded onto PC.  Waited for me to turn it on which was a long wait and then when asking her questions she kept telling me to put in EVENTVWR into my run box.  I work for IT company so while she was on the phone and my son was taking her details  I called my boss- he said don't do anything.  This woman is persistant and anyone not really sure of computers can easily be fooled.  I have lots of protection firewalls etc so that made me think this was dodgy.  Be careful and don't fall for this!

Had so many of these calls recently they started to get to me, so I was very grateful to read all these comments and realise that it wasn't just me! They have said they are from Microsoft, or a company called TalkEasy and that they have signed me up for their phone package, or want me to take part in a national survey, plus innumerable silent calls where either the number is withheld or it is a stream of zero's and eights. Out of the SIX calls I had last Friday, on dialing 1471 most of them had an obviously automated female American voice saying something like "The semantic protocol has broken down," so not sure if they are all related to 02538020308. I also read somewhere that if you hang up the call is regenerated and is known as a 'soft call.' I have tried both asking to have my number removed and saying I am not interested, but they are not hearing me!! Funnily enough, I thought about getting a whistle, but was concerned that if I damaged someone's hearing I could be in trouble! By the way, all callers were either Asian or Indian, and very difficult to understand.
