    It's not Optus who is calling you, It's someone posing as Optus to try to scam you. Strange thing is, everyone here is on pre-paid, but i'm on post-paid and getting them :(

    I too have calls from this number regularly, I am also on optus prepaid, I think that optus may have sold our numbers to a telemarketing company...ugh its enough to consider changing networks now & getting a new number

    I have been receiving calls from this number every 2 days for the past 2 weeks.I did try to phone once and could only hear my voice echoeing back at me.

    I get a call from this number twice a day and I am an Optus plan customer. Its really starting to piss me off.

    Surely there is a way to block numbers calling you?

    I spoke to an Indian sounding lady a few days ago, told her I am happy remaining pre-paid and dont want to go on a $19 a month plan and hung up.
    The same number keeps calling me.  My partner at home said Optus called for me there too, so they have my home number too.
    I just keep hanging up. They call EVERY DAY!!
    Can i block it?

    I have been receiving a call from this number every day now for about 2wks.
    This is extrememly annoying.
    I have an optus plan but they have never called me like this before.
    please, anyone, how do I get them to stop?!

    Yes - I too received a call from this number. Optus are irresponsible for doing this. There are other methods of communication available.

    I got called from this number. As I was busy at the time I never took too much notice, but I'm moving house soon and the guy that spoke to me was an Indian, I figured well that's normal now anyway with telco companies..lol. Anyway, all sounded legit, he offered me the Fusion package which is a legitimate optus product, told me it was $89 a month for unlimited local, unlimited national and unlimited calls to an optus mobile from a landline plus 7gig dl per month on a wireless connection.
    I thought it was all normal and then he said something about having to charge my credit card for the amount of $1.00 for "age verication" or something like that, I can't remember exactly. Anyway I gave him the details. Silly me.

    This was on the 30th of June and he told me that a courier will be delivering me my new modem etc.. and some information in letter form would be sent to me explaining it all as well. Sounds convincing right? Anyway it's the 8th of July now. No sign of any courier or anything so yesterday I rang optus directly and told them the whole spiel. They knew nothing of it, had no record or have any details of any impending installation or anything at all with my details on their records.

    I'm guessing now that it's all just [***] and I'm $1.00 worse off for wear. I've checked my bank statement online and it comes up with "DEBIT CARD PURCHASE OPTUS MOB PAY MY BLL MACQUARIE PA AUS $1.00"

    I also tried calling back the number numerous times.

    At present it's an Australian sounding woman's voice on a recorded message saying something like it sounds like Osis Australia or similar and that they are an authorised dealer and call centre for optus for mobile products etc.. and that they called because I am eligible for one or more products. It says that they will most likely be in contact again soon and if you don't want to be contacted to leave your name and number and it takes 48hrs to be taken off their list.

    Anyway, sounds like crap, I'm ringing Optus again and reporting it. I may or may not also make it a police issue as well. Even though they have only stung me $1.00 it's the principle of the matter and if they did it to 1000 people in a day, they're making good money aren't they? Hmmm.

    Oh and after all that, I'm an existing Optus customer as well. Home and pre=paid mobile, so that's why I thought it all made sense at the time. Oh well.

    I receive calls from this number about once a week. I am an Optus prepaid customer. I have missed all calls up until a week ago when I answered it and they asked for me by name and then hung up. It sounded like a call centre or group of girls in the background. They have just left a message with only background noise as above.

    I'm also an Optus prepaid customerand have received calls from this number and not answered.  I'm so sick of all this promotional bs. Glad to have googled the phone numberand found out not to answer. I'm happy with prepaid though.

    I'm an Optus pre-paid customer and I've just spent a very frustrating 30 minutes on the phone with Optus, trying to get this number barred. They tell me that I'm unable to bar one individual number and that the only thing they can do is take me off their promotions list and that that will take 4-6 weeks.

    As I've also put the number onto the government's "Do Not Call" register I should stop receiving these calls - if I still get them after 6 weeks I shall be contacting the ACMA and informing them of a breach of standards as well as a potential breach of the Privacy Act.

    well they were friendly enough to me. i'm with an optus cap. i picked up, didn't say anything (phones effed so i can't) and they didn't either. makes me feel loved...

    I am a contract customer with Optus, and have had a missed call about 3 or 4 times in the last 2-3 weeks.

    I feel safer conducting business in-store, rather than with some random caller - they could be trying to steal my information!!!

    I have been getting calls from this number a few times a week for the last two weeks, i called it back and it was an answering machine for optus, I am pre paid also, its getting annoying to say the least

    i am with optus , i get atleast 2 missed  calls a day from this number , i never called them form my mobile but i did from my fixed line ,, every time i call the computer says the aria i am calling is busy please call again later.
