    Also Bothered
I too received a cold call yesterday evening from EMCAS regarding, firstly, mis-selling of endowments, then payment shortfall of endowments.  They said they were connected to the Ministry of Justice.  I told them in no uncertain terms not to call me and i've informed the MoJ accordingly - I hope that EMCAS get their just desserts.  I dialled 1471 after the call and it was the same 0289 number.

I received a call from these cowboys this evening; they claimed to be from a company that would get me some money back. mmm, ok. I gave the guy no information, nor encouragement when asked personal details about my credit history (though he did claim that i'd completed a survey, which i haven't) and he soon gave up. But this is a huge invasion of privacy which i resent! grrrrr

This company calls constantly, never leaves a message. We are on the Telephone Preference list, obviously does not make any difference to them!

Does any one know if this is the only number they use?

What's the big deal? If you're unsure about them check out govt website www.claimsregulation.gov.uk - click on authorised business search and type in their code CRM1768 which will show you all they are a legitimate company doing a lot of good work for people all over the uk. I personally have got a massive reduction in my endowment shortfall as a result of speaking to them. So rather that than spend my time talking them down like all you other people who don't seem to have much else to do with your lives, I'll take this opportunity to say WELL DONE EMCAS - AND THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

I don't know whether you are deliberately missing the point or not.

    1. This company make random calls on the off chance that you might have been missold PPI etc.

    2. They continue to call when asked not to.

    3.  They make many calls to the same number in one day.

    4.  It is possible to claim for free - see Which Guide or contact CAB.

Nan. 1. They don't make random calls. Everyone who they contact has previously filled in a survey of some sort in the past, indicating that they have had such a product in the past. (I asked where they got my information and they were able to tell me straight away). If you don't want these calls - don't fill in surveys with your number on it!!

    2. If you specifically and nicely ask them to remove your number, I'm sure they would. If you shout at them to take you off they probably won't. And can you blame them??

    3. Same as above.

    4. People who use their services (like me) can't be bothered to do it themselves - that's why their company exists. Duh!!

    Once again THANK YOU EMCAS.

To whoever said a survey form must have been filled in for this company to contact them is nonsense. I never fill in survey forms and they keep calling me!!

    EMCAS
    Hi all.
i work for this company and i just want to say that we dont want to be disturbing or annoying people who dont want to be called, it just makes the job a lot harder,we do have targets to meet and we do sometimes sound pushy as we are just trying to put forward the reason for the call, most people do mistake our calls for sales calls but we are not selling a service, the service we provide is initially free,we do have a fee but we only charge if we are successful in claiming money back from banks for mis sold ppi or endownments, we fully explain our costs and that you can do it yourself people choose us to do it for them because it is a complicated process the bank who mis sold the service should if they were doing the right thing be the people calling you but off course they want to hold on to your money, we are told that the numbers we dial are taken from lifestyle surveys, we certainly dont want to be annoying people, many people tell us they are busy to get us off the phone but the number just goes back in to the system to be dialled later, it would be far better for all if you just listen to why the agent is calling and if you dont want our service or dont have any loans or credit cards that had ppi or mis sold endownments just say so, i would appeal to you not to get claims packs sent out if you dont want or need them as we are targetted on returns.Really people we dont want to annoy people, we are simply doing a job in times when jobs are hard to come by, a little courtesy doesnt cost, and we could help you get money you didnt even know you had, there is 7 billion pounds out there to be claimed, it is your money but your bank arent the people calling you.

There are several ways that you could have participated in a lifestyle survey including online maybe you entered a competition, on a flight usually coming back from holiday, in a shopping centre or high street, on a phone call someone may have called you asking you to answer a few questions, emcas get the numbers to call from companies who specialise in collecting information, it is sometimes out of date or irrelevant because we dont know when the surveys were done or the information collected was incorrect, rest assured there is no benefit to us in calling you if you dont need or want our service, we have name address and phone numbers we dont pull them out of thin air, all we ask is a little courtesy simply saying not interested can be seen as the agent didnt explain what we do properly after all who wouldnt be interested in the possibilty of getting your own money back with interest? Especially if it wont cost anything to see if its possible.
