- worried replies to Nanthanks nan, have read some but dont have time to research in full.thought this may be quicker for me.
- teresathey called me saying i had an endowment policy. i dont and hung up
- Caller: did say but cant remember
- private numberJust been called by EMCAS (see earlier posts from many others) who told me I had been mis-sold an endowment. I replied that my endowment had done what it was meant to do. His response was that unless it had paid off my mortgage in full and given me a bonus, it had not done what it should have. As it happens I have not had an endowment for many, many years - long before the mis-selling rules arrived.
I have an ex-directory number and have registered with the telephone preference service, none of which has stopped these people from calling.
These people do not deserve your business. If you have a legitimate claim, then do it yourself or approach a local financial adviser.- Caller: EMCAS
- BlobbyBeleive this is based in Belfast. Who they are I do not know
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Constantly Annoyed!!| 3 repliesEven although my number is registered as NO SALES CALLS, I constantly get them and it's time BT did something about it as I know I'm NOT alone!!!!!!
- Nan replies to Constantly Annoyed!!| 2 repliesWhen you say you are registered as no sales calls, do you mean you are registered with TPS? If so, did you know that you need to report unsolicited calls to them? If you don't they don't know you are getting them. If you red the TPS rules, they only cover UK based sales/marketing calls where a human being is on the other end of the 'phone. You also need to know the name of the company calling. If it is a silent or prerecorded call then it needs to be reported to the Information Commissioner's Office. With the ICO you don't need the callers name. TPS doesn't cover Market Research calls, and no-one can stop overseas calls yet.
- Livid of Liverpool| 1 replyThe company is called MCAS who are pushing the usual PPI claims service. I was spoken to by a very rude and aggressive young man who claimed that despite my being registered with TPS, they were not breaking the law by calling me.When I asked that he remove me from their database he said that I had requested that they contact me by indicating in some previous communication that I would like a call. Definitely untrue.

- jg88 replies to ANOMThats hilarious. That numbrr is not mpath. You havent got a clue. Typical big know it all.
- livid replies to Livid of LiverpoolAlso emcas bypass tps as you filled in a survey giving them the right to cal or else it would be against the law to do so. Also have you stopped complaining about the calls long enough to think about the ppi scandal long enough to realise you have been rear ended by the banks and should claim. Moron.
- whiterabbitg replies to ChrisDid it work, they r bugging me every day now
- Fed up with calls.I have not answered their calls but am getting up to three a day. The never leave a message they just say thank you for your call. I wish they would stop.
- Ex-EMCASI used to work on the phones for EMCAS and I know exactly how they go about getting people's phone numbers. First, they buy data from 3rd parties who claim to use "lifestyle surveys" to identify people who are "interested" in receiving a call about PPI, Endowments, or Bonds etc. with a view to making a "claim".
Now let's just take a second to do some maths to prove that this is nonsense...
EMCAS and their partner, Experiences Connect make hundreds of thousands of calls a year. Let's assume that between them, they buy 500,000 people's personal details each year (in fact it's more like a million people a year). If these people's records had been obtained and shared fairly, after a lifestyle survey had been completed and the customer had specifically indicated that they were interested in claiming, the number of people completing these surveys would be massive.
EMCAS buy data from a bunch of providers, but certainly not all of them. So, let's assume that their providers have a combined 50% market share (that would be impressive). Then let's assume that 10% of all people surveyed actually responded (this would be a fantastic response rate). Then, let's assume that 50% of all respondents said they had a claim (unlikely as most of the questions are about holidays or home improvements).
If these figures were accurate (and in fact each is probably far too high), then in order to get their 500,000 "records", EMCAS' partners would have had to have "surveyed" 40,000,000 people every year (or 80,000,000 if you assume that they make 1m calls per year). Essentially, every adult in the UK population would have to fill out a "survey" if you are to believe that this is how EMCAS get their "leads".
Now, a show of hands, how many of us have ever filled out one of these "surveys"? I thought so...
Clearly this is a perfect example of a cold-calling claims firm trawling through our personal data, calling us relentlessly making absurd promises about what we can "reclaim" and simply throwing S*%t at the wall to see what sticks.
I was trained to deal with "objections" and given targets to hit if I wanted to get my commission. The guys in my team earning the most commission just used to talk customers into getting a "pack" and would then send them some forms. Once the customers had the forms, the details then got passed to another team to "chase" them back. This team called customers up to 15 times a day until they gave in. We didn't care though because we were paid to just get packs out of the door.
We would tell customers that their advisors wouldn't be contacted about the claim, that they wouldn't be forced to make a claim if they didn't want to and that the "assessment" was no-obligation (bulls*%t), anything to get a pack out. Otherwise our supervisors would be breathing down our necks if we missed targets.
I've worked in sales for a long time and this was just about the worst experience I've had as a canvasser. Selling mobile phone contracts actually feels rewarding compared to what I was made to do while working at EMCAS!
What makes this bunch worse is that their website claims they are "ethical" and "different". From my experience, they are the worst offending cold-callers going. Anyone receiving unwanted calls from this lot should contact the ministry of justice (www.claimsregulation.gov.uk) and complain (EMCAS ID number is CRM1768). O, and if you're on TPS, it makes no difference. EMCAS will call you anyway.- Caller: EMCAS

- MichelleThis number calls for my husband 2-3 times per day, i have told them for the past 3 weeks (every Wednesday - my only day off) to call after 6.30 when he is home - and that their constant calling is borderline harassment, i also said if they could call after 6.30 not to call at all and if they called again during the day i would report them - we will see i expect i will come in from work tomorrow to find a series of missed calls again.
- Paul SkeltonI wouldn't trust these people with the pickings of my nose.
They constantly phone and usually hang up before they speak.
I love talking to them when they give me the chance, as I give no information at all, and try to prize what they know about be out of them, which invariable is just my name, address and telephone number.
I usually tell them after a while that I am recording the message for evidence but love keeping them on the phone for as long as possible as all the while they are wasting my time, they aren't wasting yours. - ******* replies to ford fiestaNo ford fiesta emcas do not deal with injury claims
- Myra Rose SavileThey're nothing but a bunch of rip off cowboy cants !!! They harass me constantly even though I tell them I don't need their services, a friend of mine was taken for a lot of money and now been left destitute by these money grabbers. Parasites

- Ex Emcas AgentWorst company I've ever had the displeasure of working for. Shocking organisation, with even more shocking practices. Ethical? What a joke. Those big bosses sitting in their plush offices driving top of the range cars, paid for by swindleing consumers out of 42% there compensation. Whilst the agents who take all the crap on the phones are barely scraping by.
- B J FRANKHAMI repeatedly get silent calls from this number.
- Neil replies to Nan| 1 replyHi Nan. I have a CPR call blocker, at first I wondered if it was worth the money, but it stops unknown and withheld numbers. Now my phone only rings when its someone I want to talk to. I tried TPS, doesn't work.
