I just received a call from this number.  have been getting one call per day for the last 3 days.  Always the same thing, I answer and it disconnects - I call them back and it disconnects.  Thanks for the info on this site, I know my bills are paid up so from now I will be ignoring

I received heaps of phone calls from this number a few months back, and after calls to and fro, they finally left a message stating they were a credit collection agency and to return the call asap.  They were ringing at night and at all hours of the day.  I knew I had no outstanding debts so I rang them back about ten times, worrying about an unknown debt and got diverted and pressed numbers and left about 3 messages, but never got a response.  I went to apply for an optus phone and was rejected last week due to an issue with my credit rating.  I allegedly have a debt with a QLD company that I have never heard of for $38.50 that I am trying to sort.  Now today, my husband has started receiving calls from the same number, but when you answer it, it just disconnects! What do you do????

Just got my first call from this number on my mobile today, but was on the phone at the time. Tried to call it back but it would ring 4 times then disconnect. Really reeks as something dodgy, as to my knowledge, debt collection services and call centres are private/unlisted numbers (I could of course be wrong but all call centres I've worked in and had call me have been private numbers)

We also had two calls from this number and both times they hung up.
we returned the call back three times and they hung up on us.

1135 Thursday 18th March.
They then rang us and said they were TRU Energy, wanting our name,date of birth, address.
We told them they are dodgy and hung up!

Lol soo funny sic of this number calling so I google and Wala not just me this number has been calling all the time started this week try calling back nothing but they stay on the line for a dew seconds don't speak but gives me time to abuse them lol

The reason they hang up on you is because the background white noise on a mobile is a very similar freq. as an answering machine, their auto-dialler believes it to be one and terminates the call. If you actually speak to someone, req. a supervisor and politely remind them it's a breach of ACMA policy to not have at the very least a voicemail mesage about who they are. :)

Also, not dodgy. They can't legally talk to you without first 100pt Id. Name, address and dob. Too much call centre exp :)

I too keep getting ph calls from this no. At the same time every day around 5, they ring twice but don't leave a message. I haven't answered any of these calls because i'm always busy. Good thing i haven't, i thought it was a bit dodgy.
Usually when a company phones you to verify details or for whatever reason they leave a message and don't ring you every day twice!

Is there anyone we can actually report this to? I am getting quite sick of them ringing all the time.

I have received so many calls from this number and have not answered it, I have tried to ring it back and it is always engaged, after googling it, I found that many others are having the same problems and would like to block it, please advise me how to do this. Thanks for enabling me to report this number.

I had 5 calls from this number and I answered the 5th, they asked me to verify my details and I said no way, they said they from Amtel..(Who??). I told them I dont know of or have any connection to an Amtel service and they hung up!!

Had a call on both mobile and landline on the same day. Got out of the shower and they hung up as I picked up. Was not impressed. And even more so when you consider I re-registered on the do not call list less than 6 months ago. Attempted to call back and it rings 3-4 times then gives an engaged signal. Combined with the ghost calls from a crossed line that Telstra "techs" insists is caused by "the wind making my cordless pick up the neighbour's phone" even when the cordless IS NOT PLUGGED IN and there's NO WIND, not a happy camper right now as the crossed line has been going on for almost a month.

two missed calls at 18.46 and 18.48 on 20/4/2010.  this will be reported to ACMA as i am on the do not call register.  registered my number more than a month ago so they are in breach of the act.

this number is from an outsourcing company that does debt collection and sales for different companies in australia. its a call centre company

It annoys me when people say these calls are a breach of the Do Not Call act, because they are not.  Do Not Call act is only relevant to marketing calls (cold calls trying to sell you something if you have no previous relationship to the company.)

It seems to me these calls are from a company contacting the customers of large Australian corporates for collections, customer care, sales etc.  Unless you specifically 'opt out' of recieving calls from a company you have a relationship with, they can call you for a number of reasons without having to comply with a single aspect of the Do Not Call Register act.

If you want to stop getting calls from these companies, simply call them and opt our of marketing.

Just received a call from this number. Tried to call back but either they hanged up or just didn't pick up. Dodgy f wits. wasted 10 secs of my life that I now can't get back.

I concur with all other messages regarding this number.  Best to list on your phone as "don't answer" and just ignore.
