I just got a call from that number. I have recently applied for ESA and he claimed he wanted to confirm a few things on my clai. He then went on to say my claim would be processed quicker if I was booked in with the job centre. I abruptly refused. Just another game they play.

I'd display the type of call as non profit agency, but that would be a total lie.

Phoned my mums house asking for me, but if it is the dwp, I moved a few months ago, and informed all the right people, and have had letters from them to my new house. Whoever it was also asked for another name, whom I have never heard of, let alone lived with.

    The same here.
I rang the benefits centre just in case , and they did not need to speak to me for any reason. They took my mobile number so they could text me in future if they need to speak to me .

Had a call from this number today at 11:40 hours. Lady named Liz Ramsey says that she is from the DWP. She claimed that her office is in Pembroke Dock. She said that there is nothing to worry about,(ha ha), my EsA is being adjusted.etc. She wants to verify any change in circumstances. She wanted to ask me some questions. I refused saying that i do not know who she is. I told that my number had been withdrawn from the DWP because of  many such telephone calls. She said that she would send me a form. I wanted to complain about this phone call and asked for her complaint details. She said that he would go and  find them out, (as if she did  not know etc) I was left waiting in silence for some 5 minutes and I then hung up. I do suspect that this call is fraudulent.  I will await this said form in the post.

Don't answer any questions to anyone unless you know exactly who they are folks,,as if you need telling

Been phoning me daily at various times of the day, first few calls i answered they immediately hung up.Phoned today claiming they were the DWP,wanting me to give them alot of personal info, said i was'nt willing to do that, they then tryed to persuade me into giving the info by saying-well if we have to send you the form in the post it's 30+ pages long & will take a long time to fill out,why don't you just give me the info over the phone?...so i hung up.I believe it's a credit/fraud scam, some dodgy so&so is passing on your number to these & they chance that you'll give them all your details.

Someone called me from this number but refused to speak to my partner as I was not in. Later they called again and a man called Brian told me he was from Universal Credit and updating details, he asked for my national insurance number, date of birth and postal address. I had just come from a work placement and was caught off guard and gave my details. Then he said thank you very much and put the phone down. I called back and an answering machine spoke. I then called Universal Credit on their number, a lady answered and checked her computor and confirmed that a Brian did call me from their department. Today I have an interview at the job centre and I will ask my advisor about this too. Hope this helps.

I too had a call from a women yesterday at 10.40am in the morning claiming to be from the DWP.

She didn't divulge any information who she is, but she wanted me to provide her with information regarding my income and benefit status. Then she kept asking probing questions. She didn't offer any other options like call back, or contact my letter. When I became wary about her call she said that the local DWP may call me in? Call me in for what exactly?

She wanted to know what I did everyday? That's what sent the alarm bells ringing.

Received numerous calls on both my landline & mobile for the last couple of days, however I never answer a number I don't recognise,  sooooo after "Googling" & finding this very helpful forum/site, I've just contacted DWP & they assured me that it wasn't them trying to contact me; obviously bogus.....don't give out personal info, or better still don't answer at all :)

This number rang me and left a message to say that it was the DWP and to ring them back on a number given.  I did so, and it is the DWP to arrange a telephone interview following an ESA assessment.

Do not answer to this number. I had spoken to a lady at universal credit yesterday to discuss my full time study at university and the cancellation of my credit claim. She wasn't sure whether I'd still be eligible regarding the amount of time I'd be spending at uni per week (16 hrs). Called them back this morning after being called by this number. The man I spoke to a moment ago sorted my claim and It's now be cancelled, but I also brought up this odd number telling him I suspected that it was a scammer and not from the the real DWP.

I read the number out to him and he told me that it is not one of the registered numbers that they use and they only have a few numbers they use. Very few of these numbers are 0800 numbers, and none of them are like this one. So if you get called by this number just ignore it. If the real DWP want to get a hold of you it'll be for a genuinely important reason and you will know about it.

Among being told by a member of staff that this number is not one of theirs there are multiple red flags. Why do they only ring for a few seconds? Why is it when you answer they immediately hang up and then call you back?

The answer is simple. You are being called by one of those dialing machines. The reason why your call gets dropped the second you answer is because they've called multiple people at the same time and someone else answered a little quicker than you did. Like I said. If this was the real DWP you would know. They don't do this.

What's happened is one of the many groups you've given your number to has thrown it out to sea, for sharks like these swarm over. This cold caller is one of them. Albeit a more nefarious one.

If you're really worried about this caller then go down in person to your local job centre and there will be someone you can talk to to give you reassurance. If these people try anything else, go down again and they will help you. All job centre offices can contact each other as of when they need to. So if these people try to do anything to you like it appears they've been doing from other comments then the real DWP will be able to help you and they will understand what the problem is. Especially if you explain the issue to them beforehand.

But as long as you ignore the call it doesn't appear that they can do anything to you. So just do that. If anyone was unsure before reading this then I'm happy to help. If you're still unsure then like I said call your job centre, or the real DWP. They will tell you what's what.

    Glad I found this website.

I had applied for a benefit three days prior to this phone number calling me 0800 023 2635.
The first time they rang..just one ring, the second time they rang...just one ring(and around 7 minutes later)  The third time they rang I dismissed the call as presumed it was a call centre and did not even think it may be anything to do with a benefit as I had already answered security questions and was being sent papers in the post.

When I dismissed the call I was left a voicemail 'I'm... calling from DWP, this is in regards to *my name* , i'll call a bit later' No mention of what the call was relating to, everytime in the past anybody rings me in regards to a benefit they clearly tell you why they are ringing you ie. Something was missing, they forgot to give you some info etc

He also left this message on a weekend. Never have I had any genuine benefits people contact me on a weekend. He didn't contact me Sunday, just on the saturday, but did another one ring this morning at 8.15 am.

I've received all of my forms to send back off so hoping nothing gets stopped, im dubious to answer the call though as I already had a strange feeling about it, this website popped up plus it not being listed on DWP's website is sending sirens off.

Hopefully this number is genuine, but if NOT I am very concerned as to how or who is passing on benefit claimants private details? It's not random and as the other comments show its happening after claiming for benefits so shows a direct link, so somebody in the office is either running or also working for a scamming company. This needs dealing with!

This is a legitimate DWP number. I work in a DWP processing office without a switchboard and if i make an outgoing call THIS is the number that's displayed on caller ID (had it myself when work have rung me). It isn't listed anywhere in our directories because it isn't a number that accepts incoming calls (so we're not going to give it out!), though why it hasn't been notified to call centre workers is beyond as it could save a lot of worry and upset. It's entirely normal for a caller to ask security questions when they ring to make sure potentially sensitive information is kept secure. This may also be a reason for not leaving specific information regarding the reason for the call on a voice mail facility as we must be mindful that someone who is not the claimant might pick up the message instead. If in any doubt of course, ring the number found on your DWP correspondence to satisfy yourself that you are giving information only to DWP. I agree though, time and time again we are warned not to divulge personal information over the phone and yet here we are, ringing people and asking you to do just that. I suppose the alternative is that we go back to only sending letters to communicate but that slows down the process and leads to delays.

I went to pay a visit to The Department Of Work and Pensions and they told me, they never sent anybody to my address, as they told me to go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau but how can I do that when I still do not know who they are, it started when I bought a phone out of Vodafone because I wanted to learn how to use the internet, but I don't know how many times I had the phone topped up, I was getting messages on the phone that my internet connection is not safe that some internet connection attackers were stealing my information but I broke the phone and I threw it away as I was also getting the same messages through my laptop computer, this was where I began a bit deeper to investigate a few things when before I closed up their site, I came across this email address, as I am not doing this for fun, I will do what it take to find whoever that did this in which I had to get every time a got a new bank card I had to get them destroyed, you see that money that was took belonged to my dead mother the government never gave me a penny to bury her.  I paid the whole of my dead mother's funeral with my own bank giro credit and disabled living allowance, in which I kept in case something happened to me for finding out who took this and I will not rest until they are all caught, because I am telling you this you can't do anything yet, the reason is you must be clever and smarter as them to find out who you are dealing with as I was getting messages through the internet who have been blocking my computer by some people were on it were from America.
And they were trying to show people how they become millionaires,  it is these people that I am tracking down as you must get someone in the inside to find out how, to give you all the details to find all the people responsible for withdrawing money from people's bank account,  you must try and catch them all red-handed and watch them actually doing this so the police to gather all the information to find the evidence you need to bust them, and that is what I manage to give the man in Google the web address as I found this, and where they are they all must be caught, because if you don't, as I gave some to the police in the head office as whoever they are have hacked into all the police files, doctors files, they could even get through even have a false job as a lawyer even a judge, as I said there is a lot of people in this email address that I put down, and whoever and where they all are they all need to be caught and punishment, the web address that I am taking about is, tcgtkrkr.com and if you cannot find them a lot of more people, even you who have a large bank account you could be hit next, as I think you are dealing with professional hackers who are blackmailing people just to give them your bank details as all of you who have all got a mobile phone, an Iphone and a laptop computer as I speak they have all blocked me from getting into the internet.  will you help me catch them, find them, track and hunt them all down and then handle them over to the law, as I said who ever belongs to  this web address, tcgtkrkr.com, whoever they are they all need to be caught with the instruments in their hands actually doing it, to get enough evidence to bust them all.  Will you help me catch them red-handed, and then hand them to the law?.
