    Just had them call me, [***], rang twice I answered they hung up.

    I wonder if they do this to meet set targets i.e. contact made within a certain time scale ?

    When the buggers ring back I'll av em about it.

    I was called at 08.15 this morning. I obviously got the dumb Monkey & I am now waiting for the Death & Blind ones to call.

    I've been waiting for their call. I requested on the form they call me between 8am-1pm, they called me at 12:50, I'd just gone out, then they tried at four, then today they called at 08:50 when i was on my way back from the garage. They called at 11:40 and hung up as soon as i picked up, I then waitied in till 14:00, went out then came back at 15:30, they call 15:45 ask my name then hang up. Its so frustrating because there's no way of calling them.

    ye i claimed and told them to contact me pm, for some reason they insist on ringin me between 9 - 10am so i miss em every time.

    these guys rung me this morning, i had being expecting call from job center about benifits, when i rang back, the woman there said it was a telephone line rental company and that no one had rung me there, i should have recorded the call, it was rather funny

    hey guys i can confirm 08000232635 is from department of work and pensions and or jobcenter , i made a jobseekers claim recently and this number is the call back number to complete your claim and then they give you a time and date to go and sign your declaration at the jobcenter , hope this helps as ive got alot of info from this site on other problem numbers....so heres my contribution...

    Had 2 calls from this number this week. Doesn't show up on my call log so have to do 1471 to find out the number. Didn't answer either calls.

    Have recently put in a claim for benefit but have never given them my mobile number!?!?!?!

    If you work for a recruitment agency, you are likely to get calls from this number. It's usually some lazy ****** he claims benefit and has to so them he "is really looking" for work. So they phone a few companies pretend no one answers and then hang up to continue claiming benefits.....

    we ring you to sort your claims out, there have been problems with the phone system cutting out sometimes, this should be fixed now, yes we will ring you at 0843 as we start work at 0800. if its a wrong number tell us we will cancel the call and not ring you again on that number

    This number belongs to Jobcentre/DWP.

    They don't just use it for benefits, I'm an employer who advertises through the Jobcentre and this is the number they use to contact me.

    This number also phoned me for about a milli-second and then hung up and has not rang back! It's not so helpful when you need to speak to someone!

    I received a phone call from this number just now. The conversation went something like the below. The agent who called me was very professional and dealt with me courteously - as I hope I did in return

    Caller: Is that <insert name here>?
    Me: Who is calling please?
    Caller: I cannot tell you who I am; until you tell me who you are
    Me: I will not accept this call until you tell me who you are please
    Caller: No, I must know who you are before we continue
    Me: I could tell you that i am <insert name here> but that's no proof i am that person!
    Caller: I'll check with my team-leader
    Me: Ok, no problem
    Caller: I'm afraid you must tell me who you are first
    Me: Then I'm afraid I cannot accept this call, goodbye.

    I consider this is both bad phone etiquette and in no way should be used as a security check - The caller told me who they wanted me to be!!!!!!

    Interesting. They call me this morning at 9:10, even when I said in the application to be called during the evening. As soon as I answer they hung up. When I try to call back I hear a message telling me that I will be charged for calling that number or something, so I hung up. Then I used Google and I found this web page.

    It is good to know that it is the Department of Work & Pension. I hope they will call again (but when?), and then I will identify myself even if the caller dont do it.

    Applied for a benefits claim yesterday, said on my application call me PM. I just woke up, did a 1471 and this number had already called me at 11:20am. Went on google, searched the number and found this page. Guess I'll wait for them to call me back, but after reading the information here I won't get my hopes up about anything actually happening.
