I had a missed call on my mobile showing this number, so googled and found this page,I then rang back using my landline, to have a recorded message stating it was a call form the DWP and there was no need to speak with them as  they would call back another time....... so all il-jit from where i see it,,,,,,,,,,

Diane telephoned me on 6/12about 9,30ish she asked me for the passwords to the Universal credit account which I gave she wanted to know precisely how much the redundancy payment was I said I didn't know she said she would phone back on Thursday so far no one had phoned back

Why did they call

the dwp do not call from 0800 numbers - you should never give personal details to cold callers

I had a call from the same number earlier, and I missed it, so called ESA. They said they didnt know the number, and there were no records of a call on my file.  The number rang me back - it WAS the DWP, just checking the details on the "permitted work" form I sent them.

I have just received a call saying it is from the DWP but didn't ask for for no security questions and just said that I had been overpaid from my benefits and got told that I should go to DWP and hand in my p45

Im.a business. They called on landline then on my mobile asking for Jack. There is no Jack here so told them that they had wrong number and hung up. Others have said its dwp but as we are a business there would be no need for them to call here. As soon as l see a 08000 l avoid as its never a genuine call

Searched this number because it was a missed call.  I claim ESA and should have a review at some point soon, but reading these comments it all sounds dodgy.  When I've had calls about my claim in the past it was from the JobCentre Plus and definitely not an 0800 number.  Not sure about giving personal details.  "Hmm".

It is the DWP never ring your local jobcentre for anything im surprised most of them have jobs there saying they know nothing about DWP always phone the inquiry line.

Just with my friend who received call from this number, was suspicious appeared to know some of friends details but still asked questions, said had been underpaid benefits. As most people, started worrying that she had given some details over the phone so started to investigate. Called dwp who said that they do call claimants and the numbers are different to the ones we use to make calls to them. After asking my friend  all security questions she looked at the records and confirmed that she had been called by them and is owed money. This is  definitely a genuine number, she did say that if you don,t feel happy giving info over the phone in future there is no problem just ask them to write to you. Not always a bad thing hearing from DWP after all.

Been called 15 times today on home phone and 8 times on Mobile. Did NOT answer but ALL from 08000232635 number. I phoned DWP to check if they had called me. NO calls to me. THIS IS A SCAM DO NOT give any details.

Genuine call from Universal credit

Very bad. They ask for a lot of papers. They talk a lot. I am very upset. I resent you. I will become worse if I stay with you
