Report a phone call from 08000285085 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- RussJust had a call from this number on my mobile - It was a genuine call from BT about some technical issues I've been having with my broadband.
It was a completely legitimate and genuine customer service call.- Caller: BT
- peedeimammy| 1 replyi recieved calls from this number in the space of 1 hour, all of which i didnt answer apart from the last time and when i answered it was a pre recorded call askin me to phone them immediately
seemed odd for them to phonee that many times in such a short space of time- Caller: bt
- peediemammy replies to peedeimammy17 calls in 1 hour ******
- Karen replies to Night WorkerLet this be notice to all, when you sign up with BT etc it is THEM that share your telephone number with marketing and third parties. You have to look at their Privacy Policy etc that tell you that you have to get in touch with them to say you want no contact off them relating to any marketing and do not want you sending your number out to third party marketing parties. Cant remember if you can email or if you have to write to an address. Think I emailed but then you may find a slow down of spammy calls from and through BT
- PeterSomeone from this number called me 24/8/10 while I was out.
I've only had time to read pages 1 and 22 of this thread so I may be repeating what someone else has said but to the best of my knowledge companies of which you are a customer are not bound by your Telephone Preference Service registration. As far as I can remember BT ask you to choose how you want to be contacted (telephone, email, letter). Having said that, I have had to opt out several times in order to get them to stop sending spam to the same email account.
I had a problem viewing my bill (and most other account info) on line this month (very inconvenient when you are on paper-free billing and the bill is due) and had a number of fruitless conversations with what seemed like half the population of India. I do not trust overseas call centres (proven to have offered to sell customers' credit card details) and suspect that when you call them with a problem you are considered more likely to respond to scammers and are therefore targeted.- Caller: BT??????
- Self-assured replies to AlexDear Worried, there's really no way anyone could do that. Relax.
- MG replies to BT EmployeeI had 5 missed calls from this number on my mobile in the space of an hour, I was driving and unable to answer. However when I answered it was an automated message from BT openreach asking me to confrim that the new line I had fitted the previous day was working correctly. I pressed 1 to confirm and that was it.
- MIke P.I've been getting calls from this number. They call several times a night. I've started to get my own back !
I hit the receive button on my phone, then cancel it !!! Cutting them off. This means that whoever it is ? Gets charged for the conection.- Caller: Unknown
- EllI just had 2 missed calls from this number and they even left a voicemail! Someone from BT apparently - she said she'd been trying to call me and told me to pick up the phone next time she called! I don't think so...
- EllTo add to my earlier post, I did put an equiry to BT via their website but told them I only want to be contacted by email, which they haven't done. Maybe I'll be sneaky at work and answer if they call again.
- Caller: BT???
- DAVIDThis number keeps phoneing me 0800 0285085 want leave massage on my answer phone so I dont ring it back as I dont know who is calling!
- Caller: dont know
- LlanilekIt's defo BT, dont think its much to worry about, It's their collections department. I know this because of a complaint I've raised with them, They are still chasing for me to pay a bill that I don't owe. But that's just poor communication between departments, It is a dialer, and connects you to an adviser when you answer (after selecting an option given to you).
- Caller: British Telecom
- Call type: Debt collector
- Paddythis number is the bt complaints line calling you back, well it has been for the past 2 years anyways
- Caller: BT Complaints
- ritai done answer the call but they ring regularly
- DegsySeems this number is active again. The last post was 2007 so I can only assume that no one has received anything from it since then until now...arn't I the lucky one!
I didn't actually pick up the phone and it went to my answer phone telling me my BT bill was outstanding? I'm not with BT and haven't been for over 4 years so it's a scam! and lets face it BT would send a letter threatening me with court action by now........be careful people- Caller: BT Supposedly
- Call type: Debt collector
- DaveI had a call from this number following an email I'd sent to BT to deal with a query on my account - they left me a message as i didn't answer the call.
It is a genuine BT company number - but it is an Indian call centre/query handling centre so they may well use it for other means.- Caller: BT
- ALSO A BT EMPLOYEE replies to BT EmployeeThis IS a BT number, call your mobile frm your desk phone (if you work in a call centre) and this number should come up as it does on my phone
- Jamie| 2 repliesMy number is restricted at the moment because i have just moved to a new address.
NO company's friends even my own Doctor can get through until my phone is fully connected.
But strange as it seems i got several calls from this number today even as early hours of the morning.
When i rang back annomously there is a strange nervous voice on the phone a women muttering "Hellow this is BT we will call you back if we need you!' it's deffinatley NOT one of the 3 women that Bt use on the alternated services now this is creeping me seriously out!!! Who the hell is this person can the police not do a voice reconision they certainatly have the tec these days???- Caller: some [***]!!
- julesI answered this the fourth time this morning it was automated BT trying to get in contact with me, going through the menu it was to remind me to pay the bill which I had recently done. what's happened to the Red bill or a reminder e-mail?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Dave replies to JamieThe 080 00 285 085 is a BT number. It is used in the main to remind people who have not paid their telephone bill. Unfortunately they seem to use it as a cheap way of sending reminders because the majority of calls from this number are silent ones. They say that this is due to calls being computer generated and not enough operators (in India) to handle the calls dialled. Sometimes there is a recorded message stating they wish to communicate with the person resposible for paying the bill.
